Zhuang Xiaoqiao's struggles to recover from the emotional turmoil she faced brought her closer to Ye Feng, emphasizing their bond. Their moment was interrupted by Hai Xiaoyao, who attempted to prepare them for breakfast but inadvertently overlooked his task of calling Ye Feng. Chaos erupted downstairs as they discovered Hai Ling’er and Hai Xiaoyao confronting a middle-aged couple demanding a share of their newfound fortune from a recent blue crab catch. Tension escalated, revealing deep-seated resentments linked to their family's troubled history, before Ye Feng intervened to protect Hai Ling’er from a potential assault.

"We, we..." The middle-aged husband and wife stuttered, likely realizing that Zhuang Xiaoqiao possessed a formidable social status.

Their confidence vanished instantly upon seeing the darkened expression on Zhuang Xiaoqiao’s face.

"Get lost right now!" Zhuang Xiaoqiao barked in a low tone, causing the couple to flee in a frantic hurry.

Even with their departure, Zhuang Xiaoqiao's rage didn't subside. She remained visibly incensed. "If my Grandpa hadn't forbidden me from taking things too far, I would have tossed those scumbags into the ocean to feed the sharks!" she fumed.

Hearing her outburst, Ye Feng realized she was likely aware of the history behind this. After offering some comfort, he inquired about the specifics of the situation.

"It is exactly as Ling’er and the others mentioned; that pair is truly despicable..." Zhuang Xiaoqiao began, quickly detailing everything she had witnessed and heard.

The root of the conflict lay with the family of Hai Ling’er’s Second Uncle, who had been ruthlessly exploiting Hai Ling’er’s household for years.

Following the death of the father of Hai Ling’er and Hai Xiaoyao, the Second Uncle’s family had bullied the survivors, seizing ancestral property that rightfully belonged to them.

They never once considered supporting the struggling family. Years ago, when Hai Ling’er and Hai Xiaoyao were living in such extreme poverty that they could scarcely afford food, the Second Uncle's family acted as if they were total strangers. Whenever they encountered Hai Ling’er’s family in public, they would look the other way, pretending not to recognize them.

It was only after Hai Ling’er and Hai Xiaoyao befriended Zhuang Xiaoqiao that the couple suddenly remembered their roles as Second Uncle and Aunt. Once Zhuang Xiaoqiao stepped in to care for the girls—upgrading their living situation from a dilapidated shack to a grand, luxurious home—the relatives began plotting ways to leech off their success.

"Take this morning, for instance. They caught wind of the fact that we caught a massive haul of blue crabs yesterday and showed up to profit from us again," Hai Ling’er added, her voice dripping with resentment as she joined the explanation.

"They have no shame!"

"I absolutely loathe them!" Hai Xiaoyao chimed in, her anger matching her sister's.

Their mother eventually stepped in to calm the atmosphere and soothe their tempers. The girls stopped venting and instead began pulling Ye Feng and Zhuang Xiaoqiao toward the table to eat breakfast.

Once the meal was finished, the group made preparations to head back out to the sea.

However, as they were setting off, Ye Feng’s sharp senses picked up on a problem.

They were being followed.

The individuals tailing them were none other than the Second Uncle and Aunt, Hai Li and Yang Wei.

Believing their movements were subtle, the duo carried their baskets and gear while trailing the group from a distance. They tried to blend in with the rest of the crowd heading for the shore, but their true focus remained fixed on Ye Feng’s party.

It was clear they refused to give up and intended to strike in the shadows since they couldn't succeed openly. They were attempting to play the part of the mantis stalking the cicada, oblivious to the oriole watching from behind.

Ye Feng chuckled inwardly. After a moment of reflection, a clever plan formed in his mind.

He led Zhuang Xiaoqiao, Hai Ling’er, and Hai Xiaoyao on a winding path for a while before suddenly picking up the pace, heading toward a stretch of beach tucked behind a thicket of trees.

"Everyone, over here! Based on the soil and the way the tide hits this spot, there’s a high probability that razor clams are burrowed here. Let's start digging!" As he spoke, he drew a small shovel and began working the sand. Moments later, he unearthed a plump, fresh clam.

"Big Brother Ye Feng, you're amazing!" Hai Ling’er and Hai Xiaoyao shouted with joy. They rushed to his side and began digging enthusiastically.

"You’re like an ancient Greek god of the sea!" Zhuang Xiaoqiao exclaimed, equally thrilled as she joined in with her own shovel.

"I knew following them would pay off," Hai Li and Yang Wei whispered to each other from their hiding spot. They quickly emerged and hurried toward the group.

"What a coincidence to run into you here, Ling’er, Xiaoyao!"

"Are you girls scouting this area too?"

Hai Li rushed forward, offering a few fake pleasantries before immediately pulling out his shovel to start digging for himself.
