Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 2065: The Alderran Family Area
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
The Radiant Branch was held once every five years on the grounds of the Alderran Family, at the First Wing. This was a tradition because the Alderran Family was the first of the Twelve Branches.
Sure, every high noble family wielded great influence, but the Alderran Family stood out even among the Twelve Branches.
Their family was one of the oldest. They controlled the most elite part of the First Ring, and they had been amassing their power for many hundreds of years.
To some extent, the Alderran Family was the opposite of what was happening in the Ninth Ring, where the chaotic Noukx Family, which had the youngest leader of all the families, held sway.
The Alderran Family was one of the reasons why the Twelve Branches wielded so much influence, and one of the most important events took place on their territory.
Once, Adam had already been in the Alderran Family’s territory. This happened because Douglas had tricked him into going to the Twilight Palace, where Andreas forced Adam to compete against nobles from the Twelve Branches.
Adam didn’t like this idea, but he had no choice but to fight and win in order to escape the Twilight Palace.
There, he encountered a member of the Alderran Family, Reinz Alderran, who was considered a rising star in his family, which in itself was a high standard.
Well, since it was the Twilight Palace, Adam and Reinz fought. Their battle spilled out beyond the Twilight Palace, right into the Alderran Family’s garden.
The elders of the Alderran Family wanted to punish Adam for what he had done, and his victory over Reinz was of no consequence to them.
At that time, he was too weak to stand up to the K4-Phantoms, who were the elders of the Twelve Branches.
But Erik saved him. He took both him and Reinz to his mansion for training. This helped Reinz become stronger and also prepared Adam for his descent into the Lower Ring, with Erik’s help.
A car arrived to pick up Adam and Silvana. It was a government official who was simply acting as their driver. They weren’t sure about it, but they thought Farla had arranged it. As one of the officers of the Gamma Division, she wielded considerable influence and would also be participating in this Radiant Branch event.
"So, the First Wing, huh?" Silvana murmured with a slight smile on her face. "Technically, I was there just a few days ago."
Adam rested his chin on his fist, looking out the window at the city passing by.
"Well, the Sun Colosseum is located at the First Wing, but it doesn’t belong to any of the four families based there."
She glanced at Adam and his outfit. They were both wearing their outfits, ready for the Radiant Branch.
"Aren’t you worried the Alderran Family is still mad at you? After all, you destroyed their garden and left in a pretty brazen way."
Adam rolled his eyes.
"Nah, I’m sure everything will be fine. Even if it’s their territory, it’s still the Radiant Branch. The elders of the Alderran Family won’t be the most important people there. Besides, even if they wanted to, they wouldn’t be able to do anything."
Silvana gave Adam a long look before nodding slightly.
He was right. The elders were K4-Phantoms. During their last encounter, Adam didn’t stand a chance against them, but now?
He was practically a Second-Rank Phantom. Sure, they were on the same K4 level, but... how many K4-Phantoms were capable of defeating the Barons and Viscounts?
"Hmm..." Adam hummed, his gaze pensive. "Frida mentioned the Star Rail. I wonder if Reinz will be there? I mean, he was pretty strong when we fought last time."
"Do you think he’ll be one of the Future Stars?"
Adam nodded.
"Yeah, why not? I told you this on the roof, I think there’s plenty of talent out there. I’m definitely not the only one. Maybe this World Wipe is special, or maybe this happens every time, it doesn’t really matter."
Silvana glanced at him.
"The stronger the Phantoms, the better, right?"
"Yes."
Silvana didn’t say it out loud, but at that moment, Adam looked just like Aiden. Strangely enough, neither Adam knew Aiden’s true goal, nor did Aiden know why Adam wanted to become a Second Rank Phantom as soon as possible.
’Right, Silvana, you did everything right,’ she thought, clenching her fists. ’If my Phantom is destined to stop the World Wipe, then I must be by his side. I must be the one to help him do it!’
At that very moment, they drove through the great white arch, entering the territory of the Alderran Family.
It wasn’t their yard or garden, but the same territory of the First Wing in the First Ring. There were many buildings all around, just like in the rest of the First Ring. Ordinary people lived here. They worked and relaxed.
But these people were subject to the rules of the Alderran Family. The buildings and salaries here were of a corresponding standard. Everything here was meant to reflect the grandeur of the first family among the Twelve Branches.
This was the case with every high noble family. They all established their own rules in the territories under their control. It was a display of power, though no one doubted that the Alderran Family was in charge of the First Wing, even though there were four families in that wing.
Soon, the car came to a stop as the driver spoke up.
"We’ve arrived. Officially, the Radiant Branch event will begin in an hour and a half. Guests are gathering now, and many have already arrived."
"Huh. We’re pretty early." Adam sighed as he and Silvana got out of the car.
They found themselves in front of tall gates that were usually closed and heavily guarded, but now they were open, awaiting the guests.
In the distance, a large white-stone building was visible, resembling something between a museum and a large banquet hall.
A multitude of carved columns stood in front, while amber light streamed from the tall vertical windows.
Several figures were moving toward the building from different roads - the Radiant Branch event was about to begin.
Adam took Silvana’s hand.
"Here we are."
"Yes."
