Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1981: One Arm and One Eye

TREMBLE! TREMBLE! TREMBLE!

For a time, the amber rays shook the dark sky over the Gray Sea. Even Breydar and the bearded man, who were fighting beneath the dome, felt and saw the bright light coming from above.

Adam didn’t hold back. He saw no point in doing so. He was facing two Lords, and the faster he killed them, the better his chances would be against Breydar.

If he was the first of the two to defeat his opponents, he would have time to regain his strength and prepare for the battle against Breydar.

Of course, Adam had no intention of helping Breydar in his fight. No matter who won the battle on the island, Breydar or the bearded man and the two young men, Adam would simply finish off whoever was left.

This was yet another reason why he had to hurry and kill Raoha and Luaxa before Breydar did. If Breydar got there first, he might try to simply run away.

True, it was unlikely that Adam, Raoha, and Luaxa would let Breydar escape, but he didn’t want to take any chances. Breydar had a slim chance of doing so anyway.

Tremble!

The last amber ray shot out from Adam’s wings as they shattered into countless fragments.

’Are you okay?’ Adam asked, turning to Lone Blaze.

She nodded, her eyes hollow with exhaustion. Her face had grown paler, and dark circles had appeared under her eyes.

’Yeah... I have to admit I’m practically out of energy, so I doubt I’ll be able to help you with anything until the end of the fight.’

Adam understood that.

’Sure. However, we did what we set out to do.’

Lone Blaze smirked, it was a rare emotion for her, but right now, that was exactly how she felt.

’Huh, that’s for sure. I can still sense their auras, but now, it won’t be hard for you to defeat them. I don’t think you need Silvana’s abilities. A small flame will be enough for the two of them.’

For a moment, the corners of Adam’s mouth turned up.

’Trying to pass the job off to someone else? I didn’t expect that from you.’

’Pffft!’ Lone Blaze snorted. ’Stop pretending this is a life-or-death battle! Do you even consider them opponents after Midgar?’

She knew the answer to that question. They all did.

Raoha and Luaxa were weaker than Midgar. It had become obvious to everyone after Adam inflicted a serious wound on Raoha using only his needle.

Well, it was unknown how his battle against Midgar would have gone if Adam had immediately possessed the full power of the Three Grand Stars, but even that slight difference was enough for him to determine which of them was stronger.

"Agh... Agh... Agh..."

Heavy breathing could be heard from the side as a gust of wind revealed two figures standing behind a veil of smoke.

Raoha’s right arm was seriously injured, it was covered in burns and open wounds, as was her right side.

Luaxa, for her part, was in much better shape, since Raoha had taken the brunt of the amber rays. Her barrier blocked most of them while Luaxa helped her with her energy.

But one ray still struck her left shoulder, leaving a dark burn on her flesh and a constant pained expression, along with growing fear in her eyes.

"H-How..." Luaxa’s hoarse voice rang out. "How is this possible?"

Her eyes turned to Adam.

Standing before her was a K4-Phantom, who was one level below her and two levels below Raoha.

In fact, the situation was even worse for them, because the gap between them wasn’t just one level - it was a special one.

They were creatures of the Second Circle, while Adam remained in the First Circle despite his abilities.

The realization that a K4-Phantom was defeating the two of them, a Baron and a Viscount, was hard for Luaxa’s mind to accept.

But this was reality, and they had to do something about it if they wanted to survive and win.

"Ah..."

Raoha took another deep breath as she turned to Luaxa.

"We have to use our Constellations. Right now."

"B-But!" Luaxa stammered as her gaze fell to the island. "What are we going to do about Breydar? We have to defeat him!"

Clutch.

Raoha gripped Luaxa’s shoulder tightly with her left arm. Her gaze grew stern and fierce.

"If we don’t kill Adam Vinter right now, the battle against Breydar simply won’t happen! There’ll be no one left to fight him, damn it!"

At that very moment, a calm voice rang out from the side:

"She’s right. I advise you to listen to her."

Simultaneously, both Raoha and Luaxa turned toward the voice.

Whoooooooosh!

In the blink of an eye, Adam appeared before Raoha as his blue needle, filled with shimmering flame, was raised in a sweeping arc.

SLASH!

Faster than Raoha could react, Adam grabbed her wrist and sliced off her arm right at the shoulder.

Raoha’s face contorted in intense pain. However, she had fought through hundreds of battles in her life, and even a wound like this couldn’t make her lose her composure.

Sticking to her plan, she leaped backward and unleashed a powerful surge of energy. The energy streams rushed to form a Constellation before her, just as Midgar had done in his battle against Adam.

Before Midgar, Adam had never faced an opponent who could use a Constellation against him. As a result, he didn’t know just how dangerous it was or how much trouble it could cause.

Well, now he knew.

Unfortunately for Raoha, this meant that Adam was prepared for it.

Tap.

Before her Constellation had a chance to form, Adam aimed his needle at her.

’Ah? Is he going to shoot me with an energy ray? Is his needle even capable of that?’

Raoha thought for a moment before returning to her task.

’No, I can’t think about that right now! Our Constellations are the only way to defeat him!’

FLASH!

In the blink of an eye, Adam’s needle became a blue flash, a long beam of light that reached Raoha and pierced right through her left eye.

The sharp tip of the blade emerged from the other side of her skull, covered in crimson blood.

Adam nodded as he did it again.

He killed his second Viscount and second Lord.
