Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1963: The way to find Breydar

Adam had only one task left in the Gray Sea - to find and kill Breydar. Once he did that, he would be able to return to the Citadel. This would mark the beginning of his journey to destroy the Grand Barrier.

But before he could kill Breydar, he had to find him, and to do that, he had to reach at least Island A150, which was quite far away.

The Gray Sea was structured such that the farther an island was from the shore, the more dangerous it was.

Thus, on Island A50, the monsters were much weaker than on Island A100, let alone Island A200.

However, Adam now possessed enough strength to defeat a Viscount. He had enough power to move about freely here.

In fact, in the Gray Sea there were islands so far away that it would be dangerous even for regular Second-Rank Phantoms, such as the heads of the Twelve Branches, well, most of them, to venture there.

These were the islands numbered over 1,000.

These islands lay at the very edge of the world, and even the Citadel had little information about what was happening there. At least, that’s what Farla had told Adam. She knew more than he did, but that didn’t mean she knew everything.

Some secrets and information might be so classified that they were accessible only to a few people.

Adam didn’t need to worry about that.

"Even if Breydar decided to go even further than Island A180, which Krador mentioned, then in the worst-case scenario, he’s somewhere near Island 200 right now. That’s still a place where I’ll feel comfortable, I have nothing to fear there."

Adam was so sure of this because he trusted Prasyx’s assessment of his powers. Also, after defeating Midgar, Adam had gained a surge of confidence in his abilities. After all, it had been a battle between a K4-Phantom and a Viscount.

"Still... Even if I can defeat him, how am I supposed to find him, and... Breydar might not be my only problem, right?"

From Krador, Adam learned why Breydar had fled to the Gray Sea. It was the only place where he could try to hide from the Veiled Souls Clan. It was a small clan from the Dark Shore, and Breydar had stolen the Crystal of Hollow Souls from them.

Thus, members of the Veiled Souls Clan could track Breydar down and take their revenge on him.

In this situation, Adam had two options.

He could have watched and walked away if the Veiled Souls Clan killed Breydar, or... he could have killed them all and taken Breydar’s head with him.

Sure, Adam had never encountered anyone from the Veiled Souls Clan before, but they were from the Dark Shore and answered to the Befallen Crown.

Considering how many times the Befallen Crown had tried to kill Adam, he was justified in considering anyone associated with the Befallen Crown to be his enemy.

"Well, I’ll understand more once I get there. I’ll play it by ear, but... If killing a few members of their clan can weaken the Befallen Crown even a little, then why not?"

Adam had never had any major adversaries before. The Befallen Crown was the first. This wasn’t just a single enemy he could fight and defeat in battle, but the most powerful faction in the world.

The Befallen Crown did not represent the will of all the monsters in the world, but they were the strongest and most numerous. Moreover, they hated humans more than any other monsters and wanted to get rid of them, especially the Citadel.

If it weren’t for the Second-Rank Phantoms, who possessed enormous power, the Befallen Crown would have achieved their goal long ago.

"Gladius... I have no way of knowing what he’s doing now, but I’ll never forget the memory that Amelia’s Legacy Artifact showed me. That dragon clan... They, too, were under the Befallen Crown’s command, and Gladius destroyed every last one of them without mercy."

Now, Adam understood that this wasn’t excessive cruelty on Gladius’s part. That was how the Phantoms were supposed to act when there were far more monsters and enemies were everywhere.

They had to use every opportunity to reduce the number of monsters and help the humans thrive.

"Agh..." Adam sighed heavily, shaking his head. "That’s not what I should be thinking about right now. How? How am I supposed to find Breydar?"

Adam didn’t know exactly where he was, but he realized he was now somewhere on Island 100. He could sense it from the increased energy density and the auras of the monsters in the water or on some of the islands.

No one dared to attack him, even though he was alone. The monsters here could sense his aura even more clearly than on the earlier islands. They knew what awaited them if they attacked Adam.

Tap.

Something touched Adam’s shoulder as a smile spread across his face.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Adam asked as he glanced at Silvana.

She smiled back.

"I should be the one asking you that. When you ate three lucent pears at once, I was afraid things might get out of control. Don’t forget, now I can sense everything you do."

Adam nodded.

"I know. I just decided to do everything at once and not waste any time. As you can see, it worked out, and I even managed to pass Prasyx’s test."

"Well, that wasn’t hard, considering how much energy you have now. You know you’re even stronger now than when you fought Midgar, right?"

"Yeah..." Adam smiled bitterly. "I realize that, but unfortunately, my strength won’t help me with my task right now."

"Hmm?" Silvana tilted her head in confusion. "Why?"

Adam shrugged.

"I have to find Breydar. How am I supposed to do that? I know what he looks like and roughly where he is, but... the Gray Sea is just huge."

Luckily for Adam, Silvana had an idea.

"What about the aura field?"

"Ah?" Adam blinked.

Silvana smirked.

"Let’s see how far your aura can reach. I’m sure that if you wanted to, you could cover more than ten islands with your aura!"
