Adam and Midgar clash fiercely, pushing each other to their limits. After a powerful fiery attack from Adam, Midgar, despite being severely wounded, prepares to unleash a devastating trump card, opening a demonic gate filled with monstrous claws and red eyes.

If Midgar had been equal in strength to Adam but hadn’t been a Lord, their battle would have already ended. Midgar had nothing to set against Adam and his flaming blades.

He had no energy left, and his body was exhausted from numerous wounds, but... his Arc was a different story.

Throughout their battle, after Midgar summoned his Arc, he had used his weapon’s abilities only once, when he summoned a gray demon.

This was no accident. If Midgar had wanted to, he could easily have summoned a few more demons using his Arc’s energy. But by the time Adam had dealt with the first demon, Midgar had already realized that would be a mistake.

Adam would have found ways to deal with a few more demons, and Midgar would have lost the opportunity to activate his trump card.

In fact, this was the first time Adam had faced an opponent who used a constellation against him.

Midgar was the first Lord against whom Adam had fought a life-or-death battle. Sure, Kalyso had appeared earlier, but he was an eager opponent, not a dangerous foe.

Adam and Midgar, they were both willing to do anything to win, and activating the constellation became Midgar’s final trump card.

Whoooooooosh!

Powerful gusts of wind swept through, ruffling the black tips of Adam’s hair as they fluttered before his blue eyes.

He had seen someone use such an ability only once before, and it had happened at the Dark Shore.

Back then, Adam had been too weak to even be near the battlefield, but now he was about to face such an opponent.

"I see..." Adam took a deep breath as his gaze grew heavy. "So that’s the difference between you and me. Yeah, that’s right... I still haven’t broken through the barrier..."

Adam knew he was very close to creating his own constellation. It was almost complete, after all, he had all three Grand Stars, as well as numerous smaller stars that revolved around the main ones.

All that stood between Adam and victory was a single step forward, but to take that step, he had to break through the barrier to the Second Circle.

"Damn it..." Adam clenched his fists.

He realized that doing so was impossible right now.

He hadn’t yet fully figured out what had happened to his abilities and the Third Grand Star, since he’d had to rush straight into battle. He had to get out of the Dark Field, but Midgar was waiting for him above, clearly not intending to back down.

Thus, Adam had only one choice left - he had to defeat the Viscount even without a constellation.

"Adam..."

Silvana’s voice rang out as the rift widened, releasing even more demons, beasts, and monsters of various shapes and sizes. They moved across the rocky plain like a swarm, and their target was Adam alone.

"Your heart is trembling. I can feel it. Are you... Are you afraid?"

Adam gulped as his gaze fell on the demons rushing toward him.

"Yes... I am.... You’re an Operator. You must be able to sense their auras better than I can, right? All of them are strong enough to put up a worthy fight... And... look how many there are."

For more than half the battle, Adam was confident he would win. He understood it would be difficult and that he would have to make some sacrifices to achieve it, but he was certain victory would be his.

Sure, Midgar had shown that if Adam wanted to win, it wouldn’t be easy. After all, he was a Viscount, and for the second half of the battle, they were evenly matched.

Still, Adam wasn’t losing.

But now, everything had changed.

"I don’t have... I don’t have a trump card that could match this..." Adam muttered as the demons were already very close.

For some reason, Silvana didn’t share his anxiety or fears, even though she was usually the more emotional one and tended to panic more often in critical situations.

She had to keep her composure, especially at a moment like this, because she knew what was about to happen next.

"Does it even matter?" Silvana said in a calm voice.

"Huh?" Adam was confused. This wasn’t what he’d expected from his strategically minded Operator.

"Yes. You don’t have the same ability as he does, just as you didn’t have the same trump cards as your previous opponents. All you can and must do is keep fighting."

Her hands glided over his chest as she hugged him tighter from behind.

"Go for it, Adam. It doesn’t matter what your odds are, or how many opponents you’re up against: as long as you keep fighting - you haven’t lost."

Crack!

At that very moment, one of the demons pounced on Adam. It was a gray beast with sharp claws and long paws.

The demons emerging from the rift weren’t as strong as the gray demon Adam had fought with the white spears, but there were hundreds of times more of them.

The main strength of Midgar’s ability lay in the fact that all the energy in his poleaxe was directed toward spawning new demons, until his Arc ran out of energy.

Considering that it was a Viscount’s weapon and Midgar had carefully conserved its energy, his poleaxe now had more than enough reserves to unleash a horde of monsters upon Adam.

BAM!

The beast knocked Adam to the ground, and at that very moment, Silvana was gone. She had left him again after her return to the Dark Field.

A strange silence engulfed Adam.

He could hear the monsters’ footsteps. The beast before him opened its jaws wide, and the rift emitted a piercing sound as if coming from the underworld.

But... For some reason, all of this meant far more to Adam than the silence deep within him.

"No... Even if I don’t understand what’s happening... She’s right - I have to fight!"

A crystal blade appeared in Adam’s grip as he sliced the gray beast to pieces.

He stood up confidently, facing the army of monsters, his gaze filled with determination.

He had no intention of running away, and his Evolution Tree began to tremble slowly, but Adam hadn’t sensed it yet.

He didn’t know what was about to unfold.
