Adam faced Midgar, who summoned a powerful gray demon. Adam countered, using his Operator's power and a special spear technique, splitting the weapon into shards that ultimately decapitated the demon. Midgar, realizing his defeat, prepared to use extreme measures.

It seemed as though Adam had used his ability only once, but that was more than enough to win this round and demonstrate just how dangerous his abilities truly were.

This caused many of the Lords watching the battle from the sidelines to change their minds.

Blafor and Ergander were no exception.

"What? You want me to admit you were right?" Blafor asked, without turning to face his friend.

In response, Ergander shrugged with a warm smile.

"Well, we don’t know how this will all end, so you don’t have to rush."

"Indeed." Blafor narrowed his eyes. "He defeated that demon with just one attack, that’s impressive, but isn’t that mostly due to the element of surprise?"

Blafor pointed at Midgar, who was busy devising his next move, something that could lead him to victory.

"He didn’t know what Adam was capable of. I think even Adam Vinter himself isn’t entirely sure of that right now. But this is still a battle between a K4-Phantom and a Viscount."

A few moments later, Ergander nodded cautiously. His gaze was fixed on Midgar.

"Yeah... I think you’re right. It looks like he’s figured that out, too."

Clutch.

Midgar gripped his poleaxe more tightly.

’He has powerful abilities, that’s true. The blades and those spears... Each one possesses impressive destructive power, but what about him personally? What will he be able to show in close combat now?’

With these thoughts in mind, Midgar lunged forward, leaving an air ring in his wake.

’He parried my attacks when I used my claws, but after I summoned my weapon, we didn’t have a pure close-quarters fight. His blue threads... They protected him last time, and my poleaxe couldn’t cut through them, but... what would happen if I struck with full force?’

Midgar realized that there was no point in trying to defeat Adam using only his abilities. Most Lords would have fallen before his gray demon, but Adam only needed one more spear to kill the next demon.

It would be foolish for Midgar to waste his energy on this, but he could rely on his powerful body and stamina.

Whooooosh!

Midgar’s body trembled as he found himself right in front of Adam, bringing his poleaxe down on him.

Adam’s pupils contracted. It seemed he hadn’t expected Midgar to suddenly switch to close combat.

"Try blocking that, you bastard!"

In the blink of an eye, a dense crystal blade appeared in Adam’s hand, just like last time, but...

CRACK!

Upon impact, the crystal blade shattered into countless fragments that flew past Adam’s face.

For the first time in the fight, his eyes widened as he began to sense the threat from his opponent.

SLASH!

The poleaxe came crashing down on him once more, but the blue threads were already there. They acted of their own accord, determined to protect him from any attack - at least as long as Adam was aware of it.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The blue threads trembled violently as they held back the sharp blade of the poleaxe, while Midgar’s eyes narrowed.

"So now your control has become so good that you’re doing this unconsciously? I see... But you’ve taught me something, Adam."

"Hmm?" Adam was confused. He hadn’t expected such an admission from Midgar.

Midgar, in turn, gripped the hilt of his weapon more tightly as the gray energy surged toward the broad blade of his Arc.

"No matter how strong a barrier is, it becomes useless if you can destroy it!"

With the next swing, the poleaxe sliced through the blue threads that were Adam’s last line of defense.

"No... My..."

That was the last thing Kreyn managed to mutter before Midgar’s poleaxe slammed into his chest.

Blood gushed out from the deep gash, but Midgar had no intention of stopping there. He had to take full advantage of this opportune moment.

Whooosh!

He swung his poleaxe once more before slamming the back of it straight into Adam’s solar plexus.

"AGH!" Adam gasped in pain as the impact coursed through his entire body.

The shockwave from the two rapid but distinct strikes sent him crashing down, straight to the ground.

For a moment, a smug smirk appeared on Midgar’s face.

"I see. So your abilities are already at the Lord Level, but... your body isn’t ready for this yet."

Bam!

Adam slammed into the ground as a cloud of dust rose.

Midgar was ready to attack right then, but something made him stop.

Whoooosh! Whoooosh! Whoooosh!

Three white spears shot out of the dust veil at once, and before they reached Midgar, they exploded into four shards each.

"Huh, you think I’m afraid of your threads! You still don’t understand what I’m capable of!"

In a few swift movements, the shards surrounded Midgar, whizzing around him over and over again and shackling him in a dense layer of white threads.

But... just as the threads were about to release their energy and deal critical damage to Midgar, it didn’t happen.

Clutch.

Midgar clenched his fists tightly, gritted his teeth, and his aura burst forth in a powerful surge.

"AAAAARRRRGHHHH!!!"

With a warlike roar, Midgar tore through all the threads, turning them into nothing more than gray particles that soon dissolved into space and vanished into nothingness.

"Agh..." Midgar took a deep breath, looking at Adam’s bewildered face. "What now, you little bastard? I’m sure each spear like that costs a lot of energy, you can’t keep creating them forever, but I’m ready to keep fighting!"

In the next instant, Midgar lunged at Adam.

Whoooooosh!

Adam rose and blocked Midgar’s strike, but his crystal blade barely withstood the impact.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

One attack after another rang out as they moved across the rocky plain, leaving cracks and craters in the wake of their clashes.

Adam was expending a lot of energy as he had to summon new crystal blades, since they could only withstand a maximum of two or three attacks from Midgar.

"Enough of this!" Midgar’s deep voice boomed as he grabbed Adam by the neck.

Tremble.

Adam quickly summoned another blade, but Midgar shattered it with a swing of his poleaxe.

"What are you going to do now? Unleash ten more blades on me? Come on! Do it! Sooner or later, you’ll run out of energy!"

Adam said nothing as his face was contorted with pain, but soon...

Soon, a smug grin formed on Adam’s face.

"Looks like I was wrong. I won’t be able to defeat a Viscount without using my trump cards. Well... I was prepared for this."

Midgar’s eyes darted to the side as a black flame flared up in Adam’s hand.

The next moment, a long, black spear woven from Dark Energy appeared in Adam’s grip.

"Now, it’s time for your trump cards, Midgar, and I’m not sure you have any."
