Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1894: The Battle for the Compass

The Night Barracudas and the Dark Crabs were unpleasant opponents, but that wasn’t what caused the look of shock on Adam’s face.

He was impressed by the creativity of the Dark Crabs. They did everything they could to drag Adam beneath the island, closer to the bottom, and they succeeded, though not without casualties.

But these were ordinary foes against whom Adam had more than enough resources.

Given the size of the Gray Sea, he was still very close to the shore. Until he approached 100+ islands, it was unlikely that he would encounter any trouble on any of them.

However, this was only true if Adam himself was the monsters’ target and he was on the surface rather than near the seabed.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The massive Blue Jellyfish released one aura wave after another, in an attempt to overwhelm Adam or scare him off.

Unlike the Night Barracudas, the Blue Jellyfish didn’t want to fight Adam, since its goal was something else, it wanted to get the Obsidian Compass.

Adam realized this the moment one of the Blue Jellyfish’s many tentacles snatched the Obsidian Compass from his belt.

At first, Adam couldn’t believe it, but soon everything fell into place.

"Right, the barrier that protected that crab, this jellyfish must have created it!" He glanced briefly in the direction where the Dark Crabs had fled. "As soon as I got here, they left. Were they working for this jellyfish, or did it force them to do it?"

In any case, that wasn’t what Adam needed to be thinking about right now.

The Blue Jellyfish had stolen his compass!

"Damn it! How could this have happened? First the fish, then the crabs, and now a giant jellyfish thief!"

He frowned as he surged forward. He could swim freely through the water without fear of the Blue Jellyfish’s aura, since his own aura was strong enough to block it.

But Adam didn’t necessarily have to swim. He had little experience with underwater combat, but he’d been through hundreds of battles, so he quickly realized what he could do.

Thump!

The energy surged toward his feet, creating a bubble behind him that immediately exploded, propelling Adam forward.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

He repeated this action over and over, increasing his speed. The water swirled around him. From the side, Adam resembled a torpedo heading straight for its target.

Strange as it may seem, neither the Blue Jellyfish nor Adam intended to defeat their opponent at that moment. They both wanted to get the Obsidian Compass.

"I don’t know why this thing needs my compass, but if I lose my compass, I won’t be able to get into the Grand Abyss."

Adam reached out his hand just as he was about to touch the compass.

At that very moment, three blue tentacles lashed out at Adam, flinging him aside. Even though it was a jellyfish, it was still a high-level monster.

As such, each of its numerous tentacles possessed the strength of a hammer and the speed of a spear.

"Gha!"

Adam gasped in pain as the tentacles continued to move, dragging him farther and farther away from the compass.

"Tsk! Do you think that’s enough to stop me?!" Adam swung his needle, severing the tentacles.

He did so with expected ease as the severed tentacles remained floating in the water.

"Huh, so all I have to do to defeat this jellyfish is just cut off all its tentacles?"

A devious glint flashed across Adam’s eyes.

"That’s no problem for me. I’m ready to do this all day long!"

The Blue Jellyfish didn’t know what he was talking about, but its next move was definitely a challenge for Adam.

Tremble!

The severed tentacles trembled as energy flowed from their edges, binding the tentacles together. The whole process took just over a second, and the tentacles once again shot upward like whips and crashed down on Adam.

"Wait!" Adam’s eyes widened as he leaped aside, using the energy blast.

The tentacles missed, slicing through only the water, but as soon as the energy pulse ran through them, they snapped back, lunging straight at Adam despite the angle.

This time, Adam didn’t try to dodge. He realized it was pointless.

’Hmm, this jellyfish can hardly be called a Regenerative Monster, but essentially it does the same thing. It will regenerate its tentacles no matter how many times I cut them, but...’ His gaze shifted to the Obsidian Compass floating between them. ’I have no other choice, right?’

Adam knew that the best way to defeat opponents with high regeneration was to attack them until they ran out of energy.

"No matter how much energy this jellyfish has, my stamina is higher."

At that moment, Adam’s eyes shone brightly as a gray aura covered his hands. He used the Soul Stance. Now he could do so almost as freely as he could activate any other ability.

"Last time I fought Nukra and Amelia, though back then I wasn’t fully in control of myself. I acted solely on my experience and my desire to win. Now, I’ll be able to show everything I’m capable of!"

Adam realized that when he fought Breydar, the Soul Stance would play a crucial role.

Of all the powers he had gained from the Mainlands, this was perhaps the most straightforward.

As soon as Adam activated the Soul Stance, he instantly became a deadly threat.

At tremendous speed, Adam surged forward as his form appeared and disappeared in a blur.

The tentacles descended on him from all sides, but as soon as his needle came into motion, the tentacles were sliced into countless pieces. Even with their high regeneration rate, the jellyfish would need time to repair them.

"Alright, time to finish you off and move on to the next islands. I’ve wasted too much time on you and those stupid crabs!"

Adam narrowed his eyes as he swung his needle up and down, sending a stream through the dark waters, leaving the Blue Jellyfish with no choice but to try to block it.
