Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1893: The fight against crabs

When a person first became a Phantom and gained enough strength to punch through a steel wall with his fist, that person began to think that nothing in the world could harm him anymore, not lightning, not fire, not explosions.

This was true, but only as long as a Phantom remained in the territories near the Citadel, where the energy density was insufficient for ordinary materials to be strong enough.

For Adam, this was nothing new. He knew that if an opponent threw him against a wall, it would hurt or even injure him. These were the general rules in the Tarnished and other lands, especially in its remote regions.

"Tsk, I’ve done this before, and I’ll do it now!" Adam grabbed a large rock and bounced off it onto the nearest piece of debris.

Like a shadow, Adam leaped from one piece of debris to another as they continued to fall. His speed was increasing, so very soon he neared the top.

Adam touched the next rock just as he was about to make his final jump.

At that very moment, four giant dark crabs leaped high into the air, landing above Adam in a single bound.

Adam’s eyes widened in disbelief.

"W-What? These bastards weigh several metric tons! How on earth did they manage to jump that high?"

The answer to that question lay in the Dark Crabs’ powerful legs, which were trembling after their jump, but Adam didn’t have time to think about that then.

He realized that the Dark Crabs were trying to stop him. For some reason, they had to drag him underwater, beneath Island A6.

"That won’t help you!" Adam frowned as his needle appeared in his hand.

The next moment, he sprang off a rock, crashing down on the giant crab in a dark flash.

Adam acted too quickly for the giant crab to react, as its claws were still raised high in the air.

"Huh, with reaction times like that, you shouldn’t even have bothered attacking me!" Adam thrust his needle forward.

Tremble!

Suddenly, a blue barrier with a honeycomb pattern appeared in front of the giant crab, blocking Adam’s needle.

’A barrier?’ Adam blinked, caught off guard. ’No, this definitely isn’t this crab’s ability, its aura didn’t even flinch, yet I felt something from below and...!’

He didn’t have time to think as the heavy claws, like hammers, came crashing down on him.

THUMP!

The sheer force sent Adam plummeting downward like a projectile. All he managed to do was raise his needle in defense, but the recoil still jolted through his body.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Adam’s back slammed into one rock after another.

"He caught me off guard, but I can still stop this!"

He wanted to drive his needle into the wall, but the dark crabs anticipated that move as well.

All four giant crabs pounced on Adam at once as their claws attacked him in a hail of blows.

Adam’s pupils narrowed as he quickly swung his needle, blocking each of their strikes. He had enough speed and reflexes to do so, but the Dark Crabs had accomplished their mission.

Splash!

A surge of water shot upward as Adam finally reached the bottom of the pit of ruins. He found himself beneath Island A6, and here, the Dark Crabs could show everything they were capable of.

Whoooooosh!

At high speed, the Dark Crabs rushed toward Adam, grabbing his arms and legs. They dragged him deep to the bottom, as this was the easiest way to defeat those who were new to the Gray Sea.

A powerful aura began to press down on Adam. This pressure was several times stronger than what Adam had experienced in the lake near Laroza’s tower.

If he had found himself in this situation without having gone through Laroza’s training, he would have already lost consciousness and never made it back to the surface.

But Adam, as he was now, wasn’t afraid of the Gray Sea’s pressure. He had plenty of ways to protect himself.

"They actually managed to do it..." Adam narrowed his eyes. ’But why are they dragging me down, and what was that barrier?’

After that, he shook his head inwardly.

’No, I shouldn’t be thinking about that right now. It doesn’t matter. I just have to kill them all and get back to the surface.’

They had already descended deep enough that the pressure became palpable to Adam.

Tremble!

At that very moment, his eyes shone brightly as the white wave receded from him, spreading across the dark waters of the Gray Sea.

All the pressure from the Gray Sea vanished in an instant, and the Dark Crabs near Adam froze as if struck by an electric shock.

Adam swung his needle, severing two massive claws as his needle trembled, taking the shape of a greatsword.

"That barrier won’t protect you from this!" Adam gripped the hilt tightly, bringing his sword down on the crab.

Slash!

A single slash was enough to split the Dark Crab in two.

The remaining three exchanged glances and hurried away. Their job was done, and none of them wanted to die.

"Stop! None of you are getting away!" Adam scowled. He was ready to chase them even underwater.

But soon, something made him abandon that idea.

"Argh?"

He felt a light, almost imperceptible touch on his belt.

A blue glint reflected in Adam’s eye as he spun around sharply.

The Obsidian Compass had slipped off his belt and was drifting somewhere ahead.

"What the hell?"

Adam stared at the enormous blue jellyfish in the distance, which was the size of a hill.

"A giant jellyfish is trying to steal my compass?"

Adam couldn’t believe it.

"What on earth is going on here?"
