Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1560: Imaginary Blades
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Adam and Silvana possessed a pair of joint powers that activated solely when their energies merged together.
The Imaginary Cut along with Future of the Past.
At this point, one such power underwent a transformation. Silvana alone chose this shift. Adam held zero sway over which joint power would receive this fresh form. He placed full faith in Silvana.
Clutch. Clutch.
The instant those twin blades—truly extensions of the scissors—settled into Adam’s hold, a gleam sparked in his gaze.
[Imaginary Cut has undergone alteration and evolved into a different power.]
[Acquired new power – Imaginary Blades.]
[Imaginary Blades
[That slash demanding both your forces to form delivered countless triumphs, yet as your might expanded, the perils encircling you grew fiercer too. At present, you require an instrument beyond a single sharp, lethal slice, and such an instrument rests within your control.]
True to form, the explanation offered no exact guidance on Adam’s potential with this power, yet as it integrated into his arsenal, he instinctively grasped its use.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Monsters closed in steadily. The pair of hollow blades edged in purple that Adam clutched failed to intimidate them. This wouldn’t mark the initial Phantom blade-wielder they’d confront and shred apart. Or so they believed prior to Adam’s initial advance.
Those blades remained linked to the scissors, teetering on the edge between pure energy and solid armament.
‘This suffices for triumph,’ Adam mused while tilting his head skyward.
A massive creature boasting mighty fangs and quivering bulk loomed above him. It matched the very fiend that struck at Adam before, back when he countered with his needle.
The creature brimmed with assurance that victory over Adam lay within reach now, yet... actuality proved otherwise.
Step.
Adam advanced, his form blurring into motion.
The following instant placed him past the creature, moving with such velocity the fiend couldn’t process a thing.
Crack. Crack.
A pair of crossing gashes split open across the creature’s torso while initial blood droplets surfaced right before its vision.
In a burst of scarlet, the creature’s stare dulled as it tumbled down. Shudders coursed its massive frame, though every focus locked onto Adam and his blades.
No trace of blood stained the imaginary blades. The strike proved flawlessly neat, denying the creature any shot at survival.
Furthermore, the Black Threat Monsters lacked folly. They grasped that the issue extended beyond Adam’s swiftness to the keen edge of his blades. Uncertainty gripped them on whether even the sturdiest barrier or toughest skin could withstand his strikes.
"Groh!" "Grho!" "Groooh!"
Within the horde of beasts lurked a few airborne varieties. Broad-winged avians circled over the fray and, obeying Vaarh’s command, fixated on a single foe: Adam.
Yet this posed no further challenge for Adam. Energy bounds to contact the avians weren’t even necessary.
He merely lifted his arm.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The blade on his right side quivered then vanished.
"Agh?"
Puzzlement washed over Alexia’s features while she puzzled out the occurrence.
"GROON!"
An agonized roar echoed from overhead, prompting every monster without fail to glance upward.
The imaginary blade fresh from Adam’s hold impaled the enormous avian, unleashing a gush of blood.
Beyond that, the imaginary blade pressed on. It sliced onward through the beasts till their injuries turned fatal.
In the end, the ravaged form plummeted earthward, close by the earlier vanquished creature.
Tap.
Slicing the air, the imaginary blade flew back to Adam’s grasp, his expression showing zero weariness.
Step.
Adam pressed on as the monsters parted ways. Their belief in overpowering the solitary Phantom dissolved. None desired to become Adam’s subsequent victim.
They remained unaware that upon activating this power, Adam resolved none would escape the snowy field breathing.
"All enemies will be defeated," Adam whispered inwardly while crouching low.
Whoooooooooosh.
Resembling a ferocious gale, Adam surged ahead, plunging into the midst of white wolves who’d attempted assaults on him repeatedly yet always missed.
At last, the pack could lunge at him en masse.
"GRH!!!"
The lead white wolf exposed its fangs, the violet blade gleaming in its sight.
Blood jetted forth while the wolves’ skulls soared high. A single arc from Adam claimed three lives, severing their heads clean.
Step.
Adam slammed the earth, kicking up a snow surge, then veered elsewhere.
The quintet of beasts blocking his path scrambled to retreat, but prior to grasping the chaos, Adam barreled past, scattering lifeless forms in his wake.
Vaarch squinted tightly.
‘Trouble brews. Should he maintain this rhythm, three minutes won’t pass before he slays the entire pack. Actually, issues arise quicker. Slay a dozen more or so, and survivors will see zero hope against him. They’ll deem Adam unbeatable.’
Such an outcome clashed with Vaarh’s intent. He aimed to exhaust Adam and Alexia for an effortless takedown afterward.
"I see..." Vaarh murmured while brandishing his spear. "My main plan didn’t work, it’s time to move on to the backup."
Whoooooooosh.
Ghostly swift, Adam darted through icy spires, spotting his subsequent quarry—the bull, bulky yet already fleeing despite its mass.
In Adam’s current mode, none dared confront him, powerful beasts included.
Adam proved relentless.
One more tick of the clock, and his blades would strike the bull, sealing its doom.
Clang!
Precisely then, Vaarh materialized before Adam, his blades slamming straight into the iron spear.
"Enough of carnage."
Adam’s gaze sharpened.
"I’ve only just begun!"
