Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1559: Return to Battle

Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Adam faced overwhelming odds against more than a hundred monsters summoned by Vaarh, his abilities insufficient to handle such numbers despite his peak power. As white wolves closed in, Alexia unleashed an enhanced frost ability forged from the Ancient Frost, forming a complex seal and slamming it into the ground. Ice peaks erupted across the snow expanse, slaughtering dozens and freezing the rest into lifeless statues in mere seconds, leaving only a handful of survivors fleeing into the mountains. Exhausted but triumphant, Alexia collapsed, while Adam marveled at her devastating display, turning his gaze to the frowning Vaarh, now bereft of his monstrous army.

'I have to take him down before he grows any stronger.'

Vaarh locked his eyes entirely on Adam.

'Once he reaches that next stage, defeat is all that's in store for me.'

Next, he turned his fierce stare toward Alexia.

'This woman... She's built up some serious strength. Yet, no matter her efforts, she doesn't scare me. She might put up a solid battle and even injure me, but falling to her? That's unlikely in any realm.'

Unlike Menax's raw aggression or Erada's untamed fury, Vaarh stayed calculated.

He scanned the chaos of the fight, seizing every chance to secure a win and maximize his gains.

That mindset had propelled him to his height of power before, and he intended to reclaim it now.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Electrical surges from the raging storm coursed through Vaarh's form, making his aura quiver as he gradually descended to the earth.

"Agh?" Alexia glanced upward, surprised that Vaarh chose to rejoin the fray from his safe perch.

Adam braced himself for the clash, just like Alexia, who fought to steady her mind. Her previous technique had drained her heavily, yet her aura remained potent.

Step.

Touching down, Vaarh bent low and drew his spear backward, readying for a swift charge much like Adam's style.

"He's charging!" Alexia cried out while lightning crackled across Vaarh's body.

Oddly, this assault wasn't aimed at Adam or Alexia; instead, his focus fell on the nearby monsters.

Whooooooosh.

Instantly, Vaarh became a streak of white light, darting at blinding speed between the frozen figures, trailing white afterimages.

His velocity was so intense that the metal boots on his feet glowed hot and red-hot, yet he pressed on undeterred.

"What in the world... What is he up to?" Alexia muttered in bewilderment.

Adam's eyes narrowed, and understanding hit him moments later, but the moment had already passed.

"Hold on, he's—!"

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Vaarh brushed against the icy forms with his palm and the spear's flat end. Each contact unleashed a mild electric jolt into the sculptures—too weak to harm the beasts within, but sufficient to shatter the frozen shells.

At his incredible pace, Vaarh shattered multiple statues every second, determined to liberate every creature from its glacial prison.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Shards of ice rained down onto the ground, flashing by Alexia's stunned gaze.

True, Vaarh couldn't revive those slain by the ice spikes. However, across the snowy field, over a hundred Black Threat Monsters lingered, merely trapped by the frost.

"You d-damned fool! What's the point of this?!" Alexia bellowed in rage, as chilly winds whipped around her.

"Stop!" Adam yelled, noticing Alexia gearing up for another frost seal.

"I'll finish him!"

Gush!

Blood gushed from Alexia's lips, staining the pristine snow ahead in vivid red.

Though powerful, Alexia couldn't handle unleashing her ultimate skill back-to-back.

Recovery demanded time, but they had none to spare, not even a single minute.

Whooooooosh.

Sweeping snow aside in his wake, Vaarh skidded to a stop right where he'd begun.

"Gha... Gha... Gha..."

His breathing came in harsh gasps.

Steamy heat enveloped him, vapor rising from his heated frame, while sweat dripped along his angular features.

Still, through the strain, he'd accomplished what he set out to do.

"Rgh!"

"Rark!"

"Grhhh!"

The liberated horde of around a hundred monsters surged toward them. No longer just following Vaarh's commands, they also burned with hatred for Alexia, who had nearly doomed them.

The duel had shifted from 2 against 1 to 2 against over 100.

With Alexia still weakened, Adam's position grew far grimmer than moments earlier.

"Damn it... I'm useless right now." Alexia pounded her fist into the snow, her teeth grinding in frustration.

Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.

Adam's fingers jerked as his pulse quickened—not with the thrill he usually felt, but with mounting dread.

Escape seemed impossible. Even wiping out the monsters would leave him drained, easy prey for Vaarh's impending thunder assault.

'Adam, I'm prepared.'

Silvana's words echoed in his thoughts.

'Huh? What do you mean?'

Determination shone in Silvana's gaze.

'The Evolution Vein has fully integrated every bit of the ancient energy I channeled into it. Whenever you require my strength, call on it freely.'

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Scores of beasts closed in, encircling them completely. In short order, Vaarh vanished behind the massive creatures, out of Adam's sight. Yet Adam knew Vaarh would soon regain his vigor.

'He pulled this off because it benefits him more than hurling bolts from the sky. Got it... So, I'll have to unleash my full arsenal.'

Step. Step. Step.

Adam advanced, his silhouette looming over Alexia.

"A-Adam?" She whispered, taken aback.

He flung his arms out, unleashing his black-and-white aura in a fierce blaze.

"Relax, now it's my chance to support you. Victory might not come immediately, but..."

Shadows deepened in his eyes, his tone turning icy.

"Once I pull this off, nothing here will survive."

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

As his aura shook, Silvana materialized at his side.

"Hold up, Adam!" Alexia called, aware of his plan. "A single strike won't fell them all!"

He was well aware, which made this the perfect moment to deploy it.

The massive shears materialized before Adam and Silvana, though this time Silvana held back. She avoided the handles, lingering behind him.

Clutch. Clutch.

Adam seized the ethereal shears by their grips and yanked them apart. The seam ruptured, placing the scissor halves squarely in his grasp.

Now, the twin enormous blades rested in his hands, fully at his command.
