Endless Debt Chapter 1539 - 75: Tireless Enjoyment (2)

"Part of it is a sincere compliment, and part of it is indeed mocking him," Bologue said in a remarkably calm tone. "His dejected, aloof manner is certainly irritating."
"But then again, we can’t force him to do anything, after all, Serey has already made his contributions and has retired."
At this moment, Palmer interjected, spreading his hands helplessly, "He’s really a hopeless guy."
"You don’t need to worry about my affairs," Olivia interrupted the topic, "Everyone should do their part."
"Everyone should do their part."
Bologue repeated, the glow within the Curved Path Gate turning into the inky blackness of stagnant water. Without a hint of hesitation, Bologue strode in.
Just like the long-distance Curved Path Shuttling before, various strange sensations flooded in. When the lost senses were restored, and his feet were once again standing on solid ground, the negative state gradually faded away.
The blurry and chaotic surroundings gradually became clear, and in just a moment, Bologue found himself back in the familiar Curved Path Court.
The Order Bureau was just as it was in the past, with staff clutching thick files briskly walking by. The crowd interposed with each other, like a school of fish congregating together. Some people noticed the arrival of Bologue and the others, but they had work to do and couldn’t spare the time to observe more, while some idle individuals noticed them, whispering like they were unsure of Bologue’s identity.
Bologue thought that in this tense situation, professionally trained staff shouldn’t engage in cheering around him, but the gazes and the low murmur of conversations still made Bologue feel vaguely uneasy.
Bologue was unaccustomed to being the center of attention, which instinctively made him anxious, like a Hunter exposed in the open wilderness. He urgently needed to find a bush to settle down.
"Let’s part ways here for now."
Bologue first addressed Olivia, then entrusted Palmer by saying, "I’ll come back later."
Thinking of his warm rental apartment, Bologue hoped that the logistics staff would make the living room look beautiful, preferably exactly like it used to be.
Bologue had a bit of a nostalgic streak and a strange collecting habit stemming from his suspicion of the vague unreality of the past. To this end, Bologue would always keep items that testified to his own experiences, adding them to his collection. During the All Secrets Order incident, Bologue acquired similar collectible items.
Thinking of this, Bologue looked down at his luggage thoughtfully.
When Bologue arrived at the Sublimation Furnace Core, it still had the familiar appearance from before. Amidst the billowing heat, staff hurriedly moved about, and Bologue followed a familiar route to seek out Balder among the indistinguishable workers clad in Protective Clothing.
From his mouth, Bologue learned that Aimou had no research to do today; she should be in the office dealing with miscellaneous tasks.
Bologue’s pace slowed down, and passing by some glass windows, he would carefully observe his reflection to see if his appearance was respectable.
Strangely, Bologue wasn’t like this before. It’s not to say Bologue was a sloppy or unbecoming person, but Bologue hardly ever cared about other people’s views. However, as time passed and emotions intensified, Bologue gradually became aware of the emotional changes affecting him.
Bologue started paying attention to things he had previously completely ignored and deemed unnecessary, and he found joy in these irrational, inefficiency-reducing matters.
After knocking on the door, Bologue silently recited thrice in his heart to give the person inside enough time to handle anything she didn’t want disturbed or discovered.
Opening the door, there was no greeting voice, only a small silhouette lying over the desk, unaware of how long she’s been asleep.
Bologue had imagined many scenarios unfolding, but this was not among them.
He hesitated for a moment, carefully flipping over the tag on the door, revealing the "Do Not Disturb" side.
Gently placing the luggage on the ground, he sat silently in the chair. Despite his usual bold and broad combat style, Bologue had some skill in Stealth.
Bologue sat quietly in the chair, motionless, like a statue. He studied the half-sleeping face of Aimou, thinking about what to say when Aimou woke up, pondering whether to invite her to see the rebuilt living room or directly go watch a movie.
Thoughts continuously surged from trivial matters, gradually deducing towards larger schemes. Bologue contemplated what direction to take next against the Rebellious Royal Court, and after handling it all, how to settle Serey and Olivia, the father and daughter.
Ideas kept multiplying, dragging his head into heaviness, making him sleepy.
Aimou likes to sleep a lot, enjoying the dreams that sleep brings, regardless of whether they’re good or bad.
Back when Aimou was still a Steel Body, dreams were one of the few mediums allowing her to experience her imagined life. Upon obtaining a flesh body, dreams became an extension of the material world, guiding her spirit to faraway places.
"I’ve always thought humans are rather unlucky creatures."
At a movie’s end, Bologue suddenly said while sitting in a chair, "Thinking about it, humans can live at most a hundred years, and most of that time is spent sleeping, it feels like half of life is wasted for no reason."
