Endless Debt Chapter 1354 - 109: Extraordinary War (Part 2)
Previously on Endless Debt...
"Will I die?" Bologue asked.
"The soul is a vessel, once it’s burst, it cannot recover with an Undying Body. You might turn into something like a Demon, and if you’re strong enough then, falling into such Calamity in this world is possible."
"Is this a threat?" Bologue asked again.
"Not really, I’m not like Beelzebub, that lunatic. I’m reasonable, you can completely refuse me."
Leviathan suddenly leaned closer to Bologue and whispered by his ear.
"I just fear that by then you’ll be begging me for such power, to make you fight that final battle."
Bologue remained silent, while Leviathan pulled back, patting Bologue’s shoulder forcefully like a good friend.
"Stop thinking about the future, Bologue, go do what you do best... kill them."
Having said that, Leviathan turned around and walked with Sai Zong to another corner.
"Where are you going?" Bologue couldn’t help but ask.
"Where else?" Leviathan said without turning back, "To find the Initial Scroll for you... sigh, I remember it should be around here somewhere."
The conversation between the two Devils gradually faded away and eventually disappeared.
Under the vast sky, only Bologue and Aimou remained, along with the faint tremors coming from the end of the double spiral staircase. Wrapped by the Beast of the Herd, the Golden Palace was peeling like layers of an onion, the extremely solid crystal walls collapsing one after another, twisted flesh seeping through, opening a path.
"Don’t you want to explain something?"
Aimou stood beside Bologue, clearly able to delve deep into each other’s souls with Bologue, clearly thinking that she understood Bologue enough...
Iron Armor obscured Bologue’s face, with only the ethereal blue Ethereal Radiance slowly emanating.
Indeed, the worst-case scenario had emerged. Bologue was previously hesitant about whether to tell Aimou about these things, on many occasions he gathered the courage to express them, yet in the end, he chose to bear them alone.
Perhaps Bologue didn’t want Aimou to worry, didn’t want her to know so many terrible things, maybe... maybe...
Aimou suddenly said, "Do I sound like it?"
"Huh?"
"Like those movie plots we watched together before?" Aimou gestured, "One side suddenly finding out the other hides many secrets, feeling betrayed, and then questioning the other at a critical moment."
"Oh oh oh."
Bologue remembered, every time seeing such a plot, he’d frown and want to fast forward through it.
"So do I sound like it?" Aimou asked again.
"Yes."
Bologue’s tense heart relaxed a little, "Very much like it."
"Alright then, if you don’t want to actually play out a movie plot, I’d suggest you talk to me about your... about your troublesome friends eventually."
Aimou immediately became serious, tapping Bologue’s helmet, and the next moment her voice sounded directly in Bologue’s mind.
"As for now... we need to face the outside together."
The abundant Ether filled Bologue’s shell, the Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid quickly proliferating, rhombus shields emerged and encircled, continuing to fission, transforming into numerous slender Iron Needles, under the glimmer of the reflection, they resembled thousands of fish swimming together, their scales shimmering.
Bologue tightened his grip on the Grudge Bite and Vengeful Saw Axe, and after another heavy sound, at the end of the double spiral staircase, came clear footsteps.
...
In the relentless struggle, the Beast of the Herd crushed most of the surrounding spires, its dreadful carcass stepping out of the ruins of Raymond Gaudent once again after a long time.
Now it moved like a monstrously bloated wriggler, its skyscraper-like figure stumbling on the ruins, its excessive mass and enormous frame rendering any movement agonizingly slow.
Its body crashed heavily to the ground, stirring up several meters thick of ash, and instantly, the airflow agitated, endless ash danced wildly within the Abandoned Land, bringing with it scorching residual heat, a pitch-black snowstorm.
"Ah... ah..."
The Beast of the Herd let out wails of lament, as if enduring some great torment.
It’s not the beast in pain, but Hammer dominating the body in pain.
Now the Beast of the Herd lacks any self-awareness to speak of, more a weapon of flesh compared to being a lifeform, weapons don’t feel pain, only the clenched wielders.
Hammer felt his consciousness continually diluted by the body of the Beast of the Herd, past memories rapidly fading; if one’s life is a long road, then Hammer’s path was collapsing from its origin.
A continuous tearing pain stems from the consciousness, the Beast of the Herd seizing Hammer’s memories bit by bit, his consciousness fragmenting, even his sense of self gradually collapsing.
Hammer found it hard to control the Beast of the Herd, the massive flesh construct struggled up from the ground, crashing into and shattering a cliffside, stumbling and falling repeatedly.
The suppressive fire from the Desperate Outpost continued, its purpose not to kill the Beast of the Herd, but to deplete it as much as possible.
At the top of the battlefield, a patch of blank space began to twist lightly, followed by dense cracks like a mirror’s surface shattering astronomically.
Two figures burst through the fissure, one after the other, the former crashing deeply into a cliff side, breaking a large chunk of rock, his figure fully embedded in the indented pit.
