Endless Debt Chapter 1355 - 109: Extraordinary War_3
Previously on Endless Debt...
Blood gushed from the sword wound in his abdomen, and pure ether was seeping out from the ruptured wound. If his body hadn’t been highly etherealized, this injury would have been enough to take his life.
"The gap is much wider than I imagined."
Holt coughed painfully twice. Since advancing to a Defender, he had rarely suffered such severe injuries, and even similar high-intensity battles were few and far between.
"Well, I only got a slight advantage."
The Regent King’s voice came from the front, as if something invisible was supporting him. He stood on a phantom ladder, hovering in mid-air.
Although Holt was seriously injured, the Regent King no longer appeared as composed as before. He raised his hand, and the clothing on his entire arm had disappeared. The exposed chalky white arm looked as if it had been slashed by a thousand blades, cracked like a dry riverbed, and dark, viscous blood slowly flowed out.
Considering the Regent King’s pure blood, this level of injury should have healed rapidly. However, Holt’s ether had deeply penetrated into his flesh and blood, acting like a coagulant, preventing his body from healing.
"Then... it should be over."
A pitch-black shadow flickered in the Regent King’s hand and soon shaped into a sharp long sword. He assumed a striking posture, the sword tip pointing directly at Holt’s heart.
Holt seemingly gave up, lying motionless in a deep pit on the cliff. But just as the Regent King took a step, accelerating towards Holt, Holt’s willpower transcended his body, forcing his battered body to stand up, eyes shining brightly, raising his hand to intercept.
In an instant, the surrounding air seemed laden with lead, transforming into a viscous gel. The familiar sense of stagnation once again engulfed the Regent King, infinitely slowing his speed until his movements were completely frozen.
Previously, the Regent King might have been troubled by Holt’s secret energy. But now it was different; he knew Holt couldn’t last much longer. Once his strength was depleted, this pitch-black blade would pierce through Holt’s heart.
And then...
Then the Regent King would consider whether or not to kiss Holt’s throat. In his view, Holt was a worthy opponent. If he chose to submit, the strength of the Rebellious Royal Court would undoubtedly gain significantly.
But the Regent King hesitated, also because Holt was a decent fellow. He didn’t want Holt to beg for survival, which would ruin the beautiful image of Holt in his heart.
"Truly a dilemma."
The troubling voice reverberated in the Regent King’s throat. He sensed Holt’s suppression weakening. Indeed, the new and old Alchemy Matrix greatly affected many factors, but the ether strength provided by tiers was also crucially decisive.
Holt’s eyes were bloodshot. He felt a savage beast slowly breaking free from his shackles, barely holding on, until the iron chains collapsed.
The Regent King transformed into a pitch-black phantom, escaping the cage. Holt roared and stood upright, his blood-stained hands gripping the Secret Sword tightly, vowing to make a final stand.
A massive ether reaction descended from above, abruptly interrupting their mortal showdown. Then, a wave of screams echoed from above, as if thousands of specters were wielding swords, spears, and halberds.
There were no hundreds or thousands of specters, only countless silver shards flying everywhere. They sliced through the air at extreme speeds, the piercing whines like countless swords hacking.
A slender, tiny silver shard grazed the Regent King’s wrist, leaving a shallow scratch on his powerful body, followed by an uncontrollable burning pain from the wound, as if flames were scorching it.
"Silver?"
The Regent King paused for a moment, looking up. He saw another person, just like him, treading the void ladder, suspended in mid-air.
Countless silver fragments danced with the wind around him, accumulating and flowing, like gigantic wings slowly unfolding, shimmering with dense radiant light.
"I once envied the ancestors of my family, who lived in a turbulent era, with plenty of opportunities to achieve glory. Yet, I was born in a peaceful time... I don’t dislike peace, but after living in peace for so long, I feel life lacks a bit of passion."
The silver shards moved to the sides, like parted seas. When the newcomer emerged from the silver storm, the ether reaction belonging to the Seeker of Glory also descended here.
The intense silver light made the Regent King squint and unable to clearly see the figure within. Yet, he could identify the other’s identity from the howling wind.
"It’s truly exhilarating; I feel the thick stagnant blood in me is starting to boil."
For the first time, the Regent King grasped the Shadow Blade with both hands, a glaring red light erupting from his scarlet eyes.
High in the sky, Fuen coldly gazed at the Regent King. He gently raised his hand and then brought it down like a hammer, the power of the Seeker of Glory unleashed without restraint.
In a flash, ether distorted the entire area’s gas masses, drastically increasing the air pressure gradient. The gas began to flow at high speed, the rampaging currents forming what was known as the wind, evolving through rapid currents into an instantly descending storm.
Secret Energy·Wind Lord.
Ether twisted reality, gathering dark clouds, rolling thunder, lightning converging with the silver shards, transforming into countless charged blades, striking down at the Regent King.
The Regent King fearlessly stared at the silhouette within the storm and lightning, shouting, "Let’s go together!"
