Bologue and Aimou narrowly escape the Beast of the Herd's fiery assault, taking refuge in underground ruins. There, they discover a massive drilling machine and a bottomless Abyssal Well. Aimou explains this is likely where the primal object was sourced by Saqin, possibly through experimenting with Soulless embryos found in the vicinity.

Bologue gazed at the vast, bottomless excavation well, and visions of its past glory surfaced before him.

"It was here that they drilled through the earth’s crust, unearthed the primordial substance, and from it created the embryo of the Soulless."

Once, large drilling machines roared on the surface here, enormous drill bits spinning rapidly to cut through the crust, with rubble and rock fragments scattering like the magnificent fireworks of flying sparks.

"As the drill bit continuously advanced, the crust was slowly penetrated... If King Solomon could calculate the rate of ether’s erosion of substance, he could even deduce from the depth at which the earth was eroded when the ether first touched the Material Realm."

As a scholar, Aimou noticed more details from this than Bologue did, "As for the Soulless, I’m not sure what they’re for, but I think they’re quite suitable for making deals with the Devil."

Aimou continued speaking next to Bologue’s ear, "The Devil values things of worth, and the Soulless, as the last purest humans in the world, must be extremely precious in the eyes of the Devil, right?"

Bologue was silent for a long while, in this gray and desolate land, he faintly smelled the scent of fresh soil.

"Not only that," Bologue spoke, "perhaps this is a win-win; King Solomon made a deal with the Devil, the Devil provided him with knowledge and technology, and he was responsible for creating the Soulless to satisfy the Devils’ thirst for value."

Aimou’s expression was complex, this too was a possibility, for one of the most widespread legends about King Solomon is that his knowledge derived from the Devil.

A violent tremor from above broke their thoughts, countless dust fell, turning the view into chaos.

"Beneath the throne, above the Abyssal Well."

Bologue recalled the information obtained in Saqin’s study, he continued, "That so-called Initial Scroll was taken away as well."

The Beast of the Herd raised the Golden Palace from the ground, but left the ruins of the Abyssal Well in place, through simple deduction, the Initial Scroll should be in the remnants at the bottom of the Golden Palace.

"What do you think it could be?" Aimou was curious.

"I don’t know," Bologue recalled the things he had seen along the way, "but it must be something sufficient to overturn our understanding."

A deep, distant roar resounded again, one giant stone after another fell, with the awakening of the Beast of the Herd, the entire Abandoned Land was becoming restless.

Bologue immediately gathered his spirits, shouting to Aimou, "The door! Quickly, see if there’s a door!"

Aimou’s eyes gleamed, she exclaimed with surprise, "Of course! In theory, we’re already inside the Golden Palace!"

The two exchanged a glance, immediately diving into the surrounding shadows, searching for the Curved Path Gate, with Saqin’s emblem, they were traversing within the Golden Palace, greatly increasing their chances of bypassing the Beast of the Herd and directly reaching inside the Golden Palace.

Or perhaps, at the very moment the door opens, they could be scorched by light and turned to ash.

Bologue no longer cared; an inexplicable fervor arose within his heart, a state similar to that of scholars. Suddenly, Bologue completely understood the scholars’ thoughts.

Curiosity.

No interests, no ideology drove them, nor any division of factions. Bologue realized that the scholars’ numerous mad acts were simply due to their exceptional curiosity.

The scholars are deeply curious, curious about the answers to everything in the world, for which they recklessly strive.

In the corner of his vision, he glimpsed figures holding hands. Bologue found them not at all frightening, but rather somewhat sacred.

Previously, Bologue always imagined what their feelings were before they died, fear? Anxiety? Panic? Now it seemed, it must have been endless calm, knowing they were about to sleep but feeling unprecedented happiness at the thought that someone could touch that unknown realm for them.

"Here!"

Aimou shouted loudly, she found it, in a piece of ruins covered by rock debris, she found an almost collapsed large door, the frame full of cracks, yet the darkness within the door was still wriggling slowly, as if waiting for today.

Bologue turned and sprinted towards Aimou, the explosive hum closely following, urging him on.

With the strenuous struggle of the Beast of the Herd, the ruins could no longer support, the ceiling collapsed sequentially, like a giant’s footsteps closely pursuing Bologue’s figure. In the distance, Aimou reached out towards Bologue, who roared as he sliced open a Curved Pathway Rift.

His figure flashed several meters away, like a flash blooming in the night, Bologue caught hold of Aimou, only to realize he was embracing a void of air, seeing a golden phantom reflected in his eyes, Bologue took a large stride into the Curved Path Gate.

The collapsing stones buried everything, tons of rock plunged into the Abyssal Well, without any echo.

...

"Where’s Holt!"

Evan’s shout echoed within the Heart Core Net, at that moment he was anxiously frantic like a madman. Evan rarely lost his composure like this.

"He disappeared along with the Seeker of Glory!"

The Heart Core Net echoed back, it was the Desperate Outpost, which had been observing the battle from afar and providing fire support. In their observation, Holt and the Regent King briefly clashed, then both vanished into thin air.
