Endless Debt Chapter 1311 - 96: Accident Is the Main Theme
Previously on Endless Debt...
Opening his eyes, getting up, cleaning and washing, dressing and tying, Bologue looked at himself in the mirror, and his neat posture always brought him satisfaction and composure.
He adjusted his cuffs and looked at the quiet and tidy room. During the days when Palmer was absent, Bologue had carefully cleaned the room to slightly reverse the entropy changes.
With force, he pulled open the curtains, letting in bright sunlight. Bologue squinted slightly, and after a few seconds, he adapted to the new radiance.
Looking at the endless scenery beneath the tall buildings, Bologue couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
Since the collapse of the Crooked Path and the dissipation of the Sea of Mist in the Great Rift, the clouds that shrouded the city had disappeared, and after many years, sunlight once again favored this land.
Under the sunlight, the glass curtain walls reflected the rays of the sun, dazzling like pearls. The surrounding streets were like a stage, with streams of traffic and bustling pedestrians.
The billboards at the commercial center flashed with various fashionable products, attracting people’s attention. The roar of machines and the diligent work of workers intertwined in the factories, making the massive silhouettes of industrial machinery appear solemn and magnificent under the sunlight.
After much consideration, Bologue realized that compared to the tranquil and beautiful Wind Source Highlands, he still preferred Oubos of Oath City, a place bustling and noisy without end.
"To the beautiful world."
Bologue raised his glass. After a night of conversation with Aimou, he felt much more at ease. Seeing this beautiful morning again, and if he ignored the troubles in his mind, it would be a perfect opening to the day.
"It’s really nice."
Bologue sighed, temporarily forgetting the various suspicions about Albert and others, and briefly unloading the responsibilities on his shoulders.
Then...
A transparent ripple burst from the edge of the city. As it advanced, pedestrians along the way were thrown, vehicles flipped over, shops on the street corner exploded one after another, and the glass curtain walls of tall buildings collapsed. Flying debris swept across the street like a storm of sharp knives, street lamps fell, fire hydrants exploded in succession, and the rising water columns looked like fireworks welcoming the arrival of the Death God, scattering colorful lights in the sunlight.
Bologue rubbed his eyes, doubting he was awake. Immediately, the shockwave violently struck the apartment building he was in, shattering the floor-to-ceiling windows in front of him into countless pieces, with shards embedding into Bologue’s body. But Bologue did not fall; he stood firmly in place, holding his cup full of cracks.
Air currents rampaged through the living room, turning Bologue’s several days of tidiness back into disarray. A few seconds later, the echoes of the explosion gradually reached, the roaring sound like a Heavy Hammer almost bursting Bologue’s eardrums.
Bologue took a few steps forward, standing at the edge of the wall. Looking at the city again, people were fleeing in terror, screams, and cries for help rising and falling. Panic and chaos engulfed the entire city. This sudden disaster left people bewildered and incapable of coping.
Alarms blared loudly across the city, with firefighters, rescue teams, and police rushing to the scene, striving to carry out rescues and evacuations. However, faced with such an unexpected catastrophe, they seemed overwhelmed.
Smoke and dust filled the air, making the city’s sky dark and heavy. Collapsed buildings and burning streets emitted huge noise and the smell of burning, like a scene of apocalypse.
Bologue was certain this wasn’t a dream but a live reality unfolding.
Just a second ago, the prosperous neighborhood had turned into ruins, the once vibrant streets and shops now wrecked and unrecognizable, everything turning broken and desolate.
Sparks ignited inside the Great Rift. Bologue drank the remaining half glass of orange juice and casually dropped the cup full of cracks on the ground.
Wiping the soot-covered face and straightening the crooked tie, ensuring his collection cabinet was intact, Bologue picked up the Key of the Crooked Path and painstakingly pulled open the dented large door.
As Bologue passed through the Undying Club and reached the Order Bureau, the loud alarms echoed constantly in the Cultivation Room. Staff clutched documents and rushed in a hurry. Before Bologue could continue his actions, the scene before his eyes began to twist and change until it turned into a straight corridor.
Pushing open the door at the end of the corridor, Bologue stepped once again into the familiar Outpost. Surprisingly, Furya and others maintained silence this time, countless eyes gazing at Bologue, among them a familiar figure approaching him.
"Bologue," Nesanel called out.
"What happened?"
Bologue looked at a table beside, filled with all sorts of armaments. He clearly understood what it meant and directly walked to the table, skillfully strapping on the armament, seamlessly inserting different weapons.
"We were attacked in a surprise assault by a joint operation from the Rebellious Royal Court and the Crimson Corruption Sect," Nesanel said.
"How’s the situation?"
"Very bad, they came prepared, breaking through Gray Stone Town in just over ten minutes."
"Gray Stone Town?"
Bologue recalled that small town occupying the key route to the Abandoned Land. To safeguard this place, the Order Bureau deployed many personnel, including the priest Bologue had recruited.
"It fell just like that?" Bologue couldn’t believe it.
