The capital's top array master and blacksmith offer their services to Wang Ming. Min Li decides to accompany Wang Ming instead of her father. Wang Ming demonstrates the capabilities of his new Ship of Abyss, astonishing Wu Jing and Min Li with its speed and stealth. Afterward, Wang Ming purchases the Crimson Blood Devourer, a soul weapon that immediately envelops him in a cocoon of blood, causing the sky to turn red and rain blood across the kingdom, unsettling everyone.

Emerging from the bathroom, Min Li, clad only in a towel, gazed at the crimson sky with a furrowed brow and a palpable sense of unease.

This disquiet wasn't hers alone; everyone else also regarded the peculiar red heavens with apprehension.

"Damn it, what in the world is going on in the capital? First the attack, and now this bizarre sky?"

"Fuck, I should have bolted when I had the chance—but no, not me and my brilliant idea."

Drip… drip…

Suddenly, a shift in expressions swept through the crowd as droplets began to fall from the clouds, their eyes widening in sheer horror.

Gulp

"Is that… blood raining down?" Min Li inquired, her throat feeling tight.

Wu Jing's eyes narrowed as she rapidly exited the mansion, Min Li close on her heels. Extending a hand, she caught a few drops, bringing her palm to her nose to inhale the scent of the ruby liquid.

"It really is blood," Wu Jing confirmed, her voice laced with dread.

A ripple of panicked reactions spread among the others.

"What a foreboding omen. I've never witnessed it rain blood before."

"It feels as though the very heavens are shedding tears of blood."

"I have a chilling premonition that something terrible is about to unfold."

"Indeed, where is Wang Ming? Why isn't he reacting to this?" Min Li pondered, preparing to go fetch him, but just as she made to move—

Woosh

She was suddenly enveloped by a powerful gust of wind that caressed her skin.

Thud

Thud

"Huh?" Wu Jing and Min Li's pupils contracted as they observed the guards nearby collapsing one after another onto the ground.

"What!" Then, a wave of dizziness washed over her, and she too lost consciousness, falling to the ground. It wasn't just them; the entire populace of Golden Leaf City succumbed to unconsciousness, be they mortals or cultivators, even the Patriarchs.

Rumble

The sky began to thunder with crimson lightning, and the deluge intensified. Within mere minutes, Golden Leaf City found itself submerged in a flood of blood.

Woosh

Shortly after, countless droplets of blood ascended from the crimson river, drawn inexorably, as if by a magnet, toward the very mansion where Wu Jing and her companions resided. Anyone witnessing this spectacle would undoubtedly be rendered utterly speechless.

--------

Wang Ming sat in a cross-legged position, unconscious, enveloped by a translucent cocoon of blood.

Hundreds of blood droplets streamed toward the cocoon from the surroundings, gradually merging with it, causing the thin blood layer to thicken. Within the cocoon, Wang Ming was completely immersed in blood, yet instead of discomfort, a serene expression graced his features.

One hour later

Crack

Fractures resembling a spiderweb began to spread across the blood cocoon before it finally shattered, the contained blood pooling onto the ground below.

Wang Ming slowly opened his eyes, the first thing he perceived being a notification.

[Blood Maker and Blood Manipulation]

[Rank: Celestial]

[Description: Ability to generate blood from nothingness and command proximate blood.]

"Celestial Rank," Wang Ming softly uttered. He sensed the lifeblood coursing through his own veins with acute clarity, capable of directing its flow with but a fleeting thought.

A sudden dampness registered, drawing his gaze downward. His eyes widened at the sight of the crimson pool. "From whence did this originate?"

A contemplative frown creased Wang Ming's brow as he activated his newfound manipulation ability. The blood pooled on the floor levitated, contorting into lethal constructs of daggers, spears, and other armaments. Engaged in testing the limits of his skill, Wang Ming even conjured additional blood to coalesce into a formidable warhammer.

"Adequate," Wang Ming declared with a satisfied nod, flicking the blood construct out of the window.

"Hmph?" A disquieting sensation pricked Wang Ming's awareness, prompting him to peer outside. His jaw went slack as he beheld the scene.

"What in the blazes? It's raining blood! Could I be the cause?" Wang Ming stammered, a lump forming in his throat. He noticed the multitude of unconscious figures sprawled across the ground. Just as abruptly as it began, the crimson downpour ceased, and the fallen began to stir, eliciting a sigh of relief from him.

"Ignorance shall be my shield; I shall feign complete unawareness, umu," Wang Ming resolved mentally. Admitting culpability would necessitate an explanation—perhaps revealing the Crimson Blood Devourer—a prospect he had absolutely no intention of entertaining.
