As soon as Yohan departed from the soul subspace, Aella gasped sharply. The oppressive weight she felt in his presence vanished abruptly, letting her regain control of her body at last!
"Hey, open your eyes!" She hurried to Aira’s side to check on her, worry etched across her face.
"What happened? Why are you yelling, my lady?" Aira yawned while opening her eyes and glanced at Aella, who stared back with deep concern.
"What happened? Don’t you remember anything, you dumbass? I thought I’d lost you!" Aella yelled in frustration, but relief washed over her seeing Aira was okay. She had simply collapsed from overexerting herself, just like Aella.
Aira’s expression twisted sharply as battle memories surged through her mind. She recalled every moment in River Shore City and leaped to her feet, yanking her sword from her spatial ring in an instant!
"Where is he? What is this place?" she cried out, scanning around in bewilderment. She now stood in strange surroundings, utterly unlike the battlefield where she clashed with Yohan.
"He’s not here—he just left..." Aella stated firmly, resting her hand on Aira’s shoulder and urging her to stow the sword with a grave tone.
"What’s going on here?" Aira questioned, unease building from Aella’s expression. Aella let out a heavy sigh before recounting all events during her blackout. Aira’s face darkened with every word from Aella’s lips—she could hardly believe it!
"From the very beginning we were fighting the losing battle, he was toying with us. I should have given much more thought before taking this mission. I was a fool and shortsighted, couldn’t see the bigger picture. Why would the biggest figure from the imperial family assign a secret mission to get that kid? We fucked it up big time and there’s no turning back!" Aella murmured, staring at the blue sky overhead with a distant gaze.
"Nothing is making any sense to me. How can a young man have that kind of strength? Both of us were outmatched. Now you’re telling me he trapped us in some kind of realm where we’re at his mercy." Aira gazed at Aella with a grim expression. Aella sighed deeply and shook her head.
"I don’t know. I couldn’t move my body in his presence—I was on my knees. It felt like standing before a supreme being who governs everything in this place. He was a completely different man. That feeling of suppression still clings to me, lingering in my very soul." Aella replied, her fists tightening.
"There must be some way to leave this place. We’ll definitely get out together," Aira declared.
"He clearly told me there’s no way to leave this place. Not to mention, this is the safest area in the entire realm, with countless hidden dangers elsewhere," Aella said, tilting her head to look at Aira with defeat in her eyes.
"Don’t tell me you trust his words. He must be lying to stop us from leaving. There has to be some way out, and we need to find it. Once we escape, we’ll leave the northern region for good!" Aira insisted, hope shining in her eyes.
Hearing her words and that hopeful gleam, Aella stayed quiet for a few moments before nodding. Deep down, she wasn’t ready to surrender so quickly and wanted to try.
"Okay, let’s find a way and get the hell out of here!" Aella agreed. She quickly instructed Aira to head in the opposite directions Yohan had mentioned. To escape, they had to ignore his advice entirely.
At the same time, far off in the distance, a figure floated in the sky with a small dragon lounging casually on his head.
Yohan let out a deep sigh as he watched the two women part ways in different directions.
"They never learn. Well, it is what it is. It’s not rocket science to understand a woman’s heart. I knew they’d do the complete opposite and risk their lives. I didn’t even suppress their cultivation base, so they feel confident handling any danger. But those fools don’t grasp that this realm is entirely different from the mortal realm," Yohan muttered, then glanced up toward Snowy.
"Hey kiddo, keep an eye on them for a while. This realm suits you perfectly—the Qi here is far superior to the mortal realm, ideal for your growth. You know this place inside and out, so I’m counting on you!"
Yohan said while looking at Snowy. He wished for her to remain here, as the outside world was too chaotic, and he didn’t want her origins exposed.
"Elsa and Vanya will be here soon. I’ll send them straight away to watch over you. Until then, keep those fools safe," Yohan added. Snowy met Yohan’s gaze with her profound eyes, nuzzled him affectionately, then soared off toward Aella and Aira.
Yohan remained there a bit longer, observing Snowy fly in the direction of Aella and Aira.
"You’re connected to me—we share a bond from the seal I placed on you at birth. I don’t need to worry about you in this realm. Even if trouble or danger strikes, I’ll know instantly. But I doubt you’ll face any; you’re already strong enough to handle any hidden dangers," Yohan whispered. With those words, he vanished from the soul subspace to return to River Shore City.
