Athena fought valiantly against ten Sixth Order cultivators but sustained serious injuries. As the cultivators prepared to deliver a finishing blow, the sky suddenly darkened, accompanied by crimson lightning and heavy rain, signaling a dramatic shift in the battlefield's atmosphere.

The one who appeared was none other than Aditya.

He had appeared so suddenly that neither Athena nor the ten Sixth Order cultivators had been able to sense his arrival. One moment, there had been nothing standing between Athena and the sword. In the next moment, Aditya was already standing there, directly facing the approaching cultivator.

Before the swordsman could understand what had happened, Aditya’s right hand shot forward and grabbed his right wrist, the same wrist he was using to hold his sword.

The man’s eyes immediately widened in shock. He had been moving at an extremely high speed, yet out of nowhere a strange man appeared and had caught his wrist as easily as someone catching the hand of an ordinary person.

But Aditya did not stop there. Without saying a single word, he tightened his grip around the man’s wrist and forcefully twisted it inward.

The movement was so sudden and powerful that the swordsman had no chance to resist. His wrist was bent at an unnatural angle, and the direction of his sword was immediately changed.

Instead of continuing toward Athena, the sharp tip of the sword was now pointing directly toward its own owner.

The swordsman’s expression instantly changed from shock to complete horror when he realised what Aditya was doing. He desperately tried to pull his hand away, but Aditya’s grip was so strong that he could not move his wrist even slightly.

And before he could even open his mouth to scream, Aditya forcefully pushed his hand forward.

The sharp blade of the sword drove straight through the swordsman’s throat and came out from the other side of his neck. Blood immediately burst from the wound, splashing across Aditya’s hand and the front of the cultivator’s clothes.

The swordsman’s eyes widened even further as he felt his own weapon piercing through his throat. His mouth opened, but instead of words, only blood came out. He instinctively raised his free hand toward his neck, desperately trying to grab the blade that had pierced through it.

However, the damage had already been done. Aditya had turned the man’s own attack against him so quickly that the Sixth Order cultivator had not even been able to understand what was happening until his sword had already passed through his throat. And all of this had happened in less than a second after Aditya’s sudden arrival.

After killing the Sixth Order cultivator with his own sword, Aditya immediately released the man’s wrist and placed one hand behind Athena’s back. He could clearly see that she was seriously injured, and he had no intention of allowing the remaining nine cultivators to attack her again.

At that moment, the nine Sixth Order cultivators were already rushing toward them from different directions. Although they had been shocked by the sudden death of their companion, they had already launched their attacks and were too close to stop. Some of them were attacking with their weapons, while others had released powerful attacks that were rapidly approaching Aditya and Athena.

However, just as their attacks were about to reach the two of them, the space surrounding Aditya and Athena suddenly began to distort. The distortion lasted for only a nanosecond before both of them completely disappeared from their position.

The attacks of the nine Sixth Order cultivators struck the place where Aditya and Athena had been standing only a moment earlier. Several powerful explosions occurred at the same time, causing the ground to shake and sending large amounts of dirt and broken stones flying in every direction.

Once the dust began settling, the nine cultivators immediately realised that their attacks had missed. Neither Athena nor the mysterious man who had suddenly appeared to protect her was anywhere to be seen.

"What the hell? Where did they go?" One of the Sixth Order cultivators shouted while looking around in confusion.

"I don’t know! They were standing right there a moment ago!" Another cultivator replied while looking toward the place where their attacks had landed.

The nine cultivators quickly spread their senses across the surrounding area, hoping to find the two missing figures. However, they could not detect either of them. It was almost as if Aditya and Athena had completely disappeared from the battlefield.

Meanwhile, several hundred meters above the ground, two figures suddenly appeared in the middle of the heavy rain.

Aditya was holding Athena in his arms as they floated high above the battlefield. One of his arms was wrapped around her waist, while his other hand gently supported her back, making sure that he did not put too much pressure on her injuries.

Unlike the extremely cold expression he had shown when facing the ten Sixth Order cultivators, Aditya’s expression had now become completely different. The moment he looked at Athena, the coldness in his eyes disappeared, and his face became extremely gentle and warm.

He could clearly see how exhausted she was. Her clothes were torn in several places, and blood was flowing from the injuries across her body. Her left shoulder had suffered a particularly serious injury, while the wound on her waist was still bleeding despite the rain washing away some of the blood.

However, Athena did not look up at him. Instead, the moment she felt Aditya’s arms around her, she immediately hugged him back. She wrapped her arms around his body as tightly as her injuries allowed and buried her face against his chest.

For the first time since the ten Sixth Order cultivators had surrounded her, Athena finally felt that she no longer needed to worry about defending herself against another attack.

"You are late." Athena whispered in an extremely soft voice while keeping her face buried in his chest.

Her voice was so quiet that it was almost impossible to hear, especially with the heavy rain falling around them and the sounds of thunder coming from the dark clouds above. For a moment, it almost seemed as if Aditya had not heard what she said.

However, he had heard every single word. "I’m sorry, love. The plan took a few more hours than we expected. But now that I’m here, I promise everything will be all right." Aditya replied in a gentle voice while carefully holding her closer to his body.

Hearing his words, Athena did not say anything else. She simply continued hugging him with her face buried against his chest. Although her body was still hurting badly, she felt much more comfortable now that Aditya had finally arrived.

Aditya gently lowered his head and looked at the woman in his arms. Seeing Athena in such a terrible condition made his heart ache.

His eyes slowly moved toward the deep wound on her shoulder before looking at the blood flowing from her waist. He also noticed several other injuries across her arms and body. Some were shallow cuts, while others were much deeper.

Even though the heavy rain was washing away the blood from her clothes, fresh blood continued flowing from several wounds. Seeing his woman bleeding like this, the gentle expression on Aditya’s face slowly began disappearing.

His eyes became extremely cold as he remembered the nine Sixth Order cultivators who had been attacking her.

Although Aditya had already killed one of them, it did not make him feel any better. The more he looked at Athena’s injuries, the colder his expression became.

Without even realizing it, a terrifying amount of killing intent slowly began leaking from his body. At first, it was only a small amount, but as his anger continued growing, the killing intent became increasingly stronger.

However, Aditya did not notice this change. His attention remained completely focused on Athena and the injuries covering her body. At the same time, the dark clouds covering the entire battlefield suddenly began reacting more violently.

The crimson lightning bolts that had previously been moving through the clouds became much more active. Countless crimson flashes appeared inside the dark clouds, lighting up different parts of the sky every few seconds. The sounds of thunder also became much louder, almost as if the entire sky was responding to Aditya’s growing anger.

A deafening sound of thunder suddenly echoed across the Northern Grassy Plains, causing countless soldiers to instinctively raise their heads.

In the next moment, a thick bolt of crimson lightning suddenly fell from the dark clouds and struck the ground in the middle of a group of Emperor Faction soldiers.

The powerful lightning bolt exploded upon hitting the ground, instantly killing the soldiers standing near the point of impact. Their bodies were burned by the intense heat, while the force of the explosion sent several nearby soldiers flying through the air.

Before the surviving soldiers could understand what had happened, another crimson lightning bolt suddenly descended from the sky and struck a different part of the battlefield.

This time, the lightning struck a group of Emperor Faction soldiers who had been preparing to attack the Anti-Emperor Faction’s defensive line. The lightning instantly killed several of them, while the surrounding soldiers were forced to retreat in fear.

And it did not stop there. More and more crimson lightning bolts began falling from the dark clouds. Some struck groups of enemy soldiers who were fighting at the front, while others landed among the Emperor Faction’s soldiers who were preparing to move forward as reinforcements.

Every time a crimson lightning bolt struck the ground, a powerful explosion followed, killing or seriously injuring the soldiers caught within its range. What made the situation even more strange was that none of these lightning bolts struck the Anti-Emperor Faction’s soldiers.

Even when soldiers from both factions were fighting extremely close to each other, the crimson lightning would somehow strike only the Emperor Faction’s soldiers, leaving the Anti-Emperor Faction’s soldiers completely unharmed.

At first, some people thought that it was simply a coincidence. However, as more and more crimson lightning bolts continued falling from the sky, it became increasingly clear that something unusual was happening.

Every single bolt of crimson lightning that descended from the dark clouds struck an enemy soldier or a group of enemy soldiers. Not even one of them struck Aditya’s own soldiers.
