Hedera gives Kat a silver brooch designed to disrupt illusions, meant for Lily. Kat learns Appoline has been suffering from lack of sleep since her incarceration and a recent attack on the lab complex, which Kat helped defend. Hedera also recounts her own dealings with Steel, which involved coded messages and ingredient gathering. Both express concern over potential spies observing their home and the difficulty of discerning friend from foe.
