Farhan and Mayla attempt to flee the pocket dimension after Rex incapacitates their group. Using a special powder to breach the barrier, their escape is halted when Rex ensnares them with dimensional chains. Despite their efforts, Rex overpowers them with devastating lightning attacks and drags them back. He then brutally beats Farhan, healing him only to inflict further torture, before Davina intervenes, stopping Rex just as he begins to peel Farhan's skin. Davina reveals that Farhan is needed alive.

From start to finish, Davina couldn’t peel her eyes away from the battle.

Every time she saw Rex fight to his fullest capacity, she was always enthralled by how ferocious—and brutal he was. She grimaced and flinched at several fatal attacks, imagining the pain that those damages would inflict.

And yet, Rex never showed any sign of slowing down.

It was almost as if his body didn’t feel pain or register pain differently from other people.

Regardless, watching him fight made her thank herself in the past for deciding to hold onto Rex.

She’d never met someone so unbreakable, with such a ferocious will to become stronger.

However, Davina noticed one weakness that Rex possessed, and that was that once he started to let loose—he couldn’t stop. He wouldn’t stop until everything alive around him was dead, and Davina decided to make it her obligation to remind him when to stop.

"Not a good idea to get close to him," Lilliana warned.

Giving Rex a couple more minutes would be the safest approach they could take right now.

But like always, Davina is stubborn.

She warped through the distance between her and Rex in the blink of an eye and caught his wrist.

And the moment the crimson eyes snapped to look at her in the eye, her grip loosened for a fraction of a second before she snapped out of it and held on. No matter how ferocious Rex became, he’d always recognize the people he treasured.

Another thing that amazed Davina about him.

His kind, werewolves, are known to be easily blinded with rage, and yet that limitation didn’t seem to hinder Rex at all. Due to that, there was no need for Davina to be worried. "Why don’t you stop there?" She suggested. "We don’t want him dead yet."

Rex looked at it for a good moment.

Still regulating the boiling rage that was still coursing through his bloodstream.

It took a few seconds before Davina could feel his arm loosening.

Slowly, he rose to his feet and looked down at the mess that he had made in the moment of anger.

Nobody could recognize Farhan anymore, as his face was completely broken. Rex also did not need to worry about him running away anymore, as the damage he suffered had already fully impaired his energy flow, rendering him incapable of doing anything.

As for the other Awakened Demigods, their insides were charred by the black lightning.

And to make sure they couldn’t resist anymore, the phantom wolves came and bit their limbs.

"Are you feeling better now?" Lilliana asked as she landed near them. "Have you gotten your rage out of your system?"

"I feel a lot better, yes." Rex nodded, checking that his Sanity stat was rising to the normal level—after dropping to below forty earlier, which was the danger zone. "I would have lost my mind had it not been for these guys. Luck is on our side."

Just a bit more without venting, Rex would probably trigger the Ravenous Penalty Quest.

Back then, he already needed to eat a lot.

He couldn’t even imagine how many people he would need to devour now that he was far stronger.

"Good to hear." Lilliana smiled and then shifted her gaze to Farhan. Mayla was already beside Farhan; she had crawled to check on him—which showed their deeper connection. "Who are these people? Who sent them to kill you?"

"It’s High Lord Ursa," Rex answered.

He took out a white cloth from the inventory and wiped the blood on his hands nonchalantly.

"You said something about there being an obstacle," Davina said, crossing her arms. "What is it?"

"Yeah, about that..."

Rex intended to tell them about the meeting he had with High Lord Rashal, but the scroll depicting the war that happened in the Mortal Realm distracted his mind. Now that his mind is clearer, he told them everything that happened in the background.

It’s politics, and these two were the experts.

He’s not arrogant enough to think that his ideas would be better than those of people like them.

After all, he came from a humble background, not a lavish one.

Not a surrounding of pompous silk dresses and gastronomic caprices.

Once Rex told them about what was going on—the fact that the attack on the Grey Realm was nothing more than an additional bonus while the real attack was directed at the Cavity— the sisters fell into deep contemplation.

"And does the concern only lie with the evaluation?" Davina probed further.

If she were to make a plan, then she would need to know the details.

"No, that’s not the only problem." Rex shook his head—he waved his hand to summon three rocks for them to sit on—and then lowered himself to one. "Another problem is that High Lord Rashal’s position is now at risk."

"At risk? At risk how exactly?" Lilliana frowned and sat down. "Can his position be taken that easily?"

"Not easily. To remove him from power, there would need to be either an accusation of a big crime or a majority vote by the other High Lords to oust him. He never admitted it outright—but I’m certain he earned his seat through military exploits, not political favour. So, his position has been precarious from the very beginning."

Rex didn’t need to ask to know that High Lord Rashal got his position through military exploits.

It would take decades, if not centuries, for him to get his position through the other method.

And that would contradict the fact that he’s very young for a High Lord.

Showing loyalty through impossible military exploits would be far easier—and the Cluster Custodians are probably the ones who put him in power. But the Cluster Custodians are not involved directly with how the Primordial Meadow operated.

More like someone who came when dire things happened.

So, High Lord Rashal’s position entirely depended on the other High Lords.

He managed to survive up until this point—and even got the chance to oversee the Cavity through the unbeatable air around him. Nobody would want to mess with him when every person who tried to take him out lost.

In addition, like what High Lord Rashal said himself, he’s also young.

And being young meant he could still sell his potential to other political parties.

Making an enemy out of him has the risk of making a powerful enemy in the future—so not many High Lords went against him. But if news spread that he lost to High Lord Ursa, then everything he had built would unravel in an instant.

That’s how important the persona of being unbeatable was for him.

"He said most of the High Lords are neutral, with only a few against him and even fewer on his side."

"Hmm..."

Davina and Lilliana remained silent, contemplating the situation.

And then, almost instantly, they exchanged a knowing glance.

Rex’s eyes glistened at the sight as they seemed to have a plan in mind, which they had used before.

"In a situation like this, before making a plan, I need to have the answer to this one question." Davina leaned forward and crossed her legs. "A question that would determine whether we should use the safe plan or... what we liked to call the fresh scroll plan."

"Fresh scroll plan?" Rex tilted his head, confused.

"Tell me, Rex—if High Lord Rasal gets ousted, do you think he can climb to power again?"

"I don’t think so. Even if he could, he wouldn’t want to. He’s ambitious. He didn’t want to wait."

"In that case, we’re going with the fresh scroll plan," Davina smirked mysteriously.

And it was the same for Lilliana.

Then, the two explained to Rex what the fresh scroll plan meant and also what their plan to help High Lord Rashal was. Of course, the plan was still incomplete as they needed to gather more information, which High Lord Rashal could provide.

However, even the rough idea riled Rex’s interests.

He even cracked the same smile, but crueller.

"Let’s go with that. I’ll schedule a meeting with High Lord Rashal again." Rex nodded and then finally turned his focus back to the Awakened Demigods. His eyes, in particular, were staring at Farhan. "For now, we’re going to do what we can do to prepare."

On the other side.

Mayla clutched Farhan’s shirt and shook his body, trying to snap his consciousness back.

It took a lot from her to only shake his body as every part of her being hurt.

She was naturally healing, but it would take time before she could use her power again.

"Please wake up," She whispered, staring at Farhan’s disfigured face.

But there was no response from Farhan; he was teetering on the edge of death. Unless he got treatment soon, he would die—and Mayla didn’t want that. She reached for something inside her dress when her senses picked up a few presences approaching from behind.

"Forgive me," She whispered lightly. "But I need to use it so that we can survive."

Then, something grabbed her by her hair.

Rex lifted her from the ground with a fistful of her hair in his hand.

Out of nowhere, Mayla pointed a totem at him, and it instantly glowed with power beyond measure.

Immortal energy shot out from the totem and turned into two hands that wrapped around Rex’s body.

Almost instantly, the Absolute Anger Effect was riled, stopping the two lethal hands.

But to Rex’s surprise, the red energy that had never failed to protect him cracked.

<Warning!>

<An insurmountable amount of immortal energy was locked onto the user!>

<A being of higher-tier Invincibility has taken the initiative to kill the user!>

<A Vast disparity in invincibility level has been detected—the user has zero chance of winning this confrontation. The System’s taboo has been triggered! Beings with an overwhelming power gap are barred from fighting in the race to Invincibility!>

<Processing to neutralize the hostile immortal energy...>

<Notice: the user will be put in safety in three seconds!>

Rex immediately reacted.

He reached his hands to Davina and Lilliana, and then shoved them away from anywhere near him.

An invisible force pulled Rex back a few feet, and the energy from the totem that was wrapping around him was dispersed, returning the pocket dimension to normal. Mayla stared at Rex, entirely unscathed from the totem, with round eyes.

"H-How is this possible...?" She rasped in utter shock.

For a second, Rex was also stunned.

Considering that he had scanned Mayla and the other Awakened Demigods, which also included all of the items in their possession, he shouldn’t need to worry about getting hurt. But he had forgotten that he was against Demigods who were under the Overseer of Realms.

All of them have access to interdimensional abilities.

One is storing an item in another dimension, the same way as the inventory from the System.

Since it wasn’t present in this dimension, the System didn’t pick it up.

Realizing that he had been almost eviscerated by a wounded Awakened Demigod, Rex’s crimson eyes burned with anger again. He was fast enough to react and save himself, even without the System’s intervention, but the attempt still angers him.

He made wide strides toward Mayla, making her crawl away in fright—and lifted her by her hair again.

"Krrghk!" Mayla grunted as she held Rex’s iron hand.

She tried to resist, but it was feeble. Weak.

BAM—!

Rex drilled his fist into her stomach, forcing her body to bend forward and blood to burst from her lips.

"I saw how much you care for Farhan." He kept her suspended by her hair, his lips brushing her ear as he whispered. "I was tempted—truly—to give you a choice. Let you save him. Let you keep him alive, perhaps even spare the others." His grip tightened. "But you did this to me."

BAM—!

Another punch hammered into her stomach, causing her internal organs to squeeze in pain.

"But you tried to kill me," Rex smirked deviously. "So, I changed my mind."
