Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off Chapter 902: Father Cooks, Son Attracts Customers!
Previously on Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off...
Hu Yan was busy cooking.
The large pot in front of him was filled with meat soup, and its delicious aroma spread throughout the eastern gate. Beside him, Han Jue was teaching the sub-beastmen how to prepare the ingredients while Hu Yan demonstrated how to control the fire and season the soup.
"Remember, don’t add everything at once!" Hu Yan warned a sub-beastman holding a handful of salt. "Do you want to make soup or bury everyone in salt?"
The poor sub-beastman immediately pulled his hand back.
"I-I understand!"
"Then pay attention!"
Hu Yan turned back to the pot and continued stirring. He was so focused on teaching everyone that he didn’t notice a little figure approaching from behind.
A moment later, something heavy landed on his head.
Hu Yan’s hand stopped moving. His ears twitched, and a low growl escaped his throat.
"Xiao Yi! Get down!"
The little tiger cub sitting on his head didn’t seem frightened. Instead, he adjusted himself comfortably, folded his tiny wings, and leaned forward to peer into the enormous pot.
"Father, what are you cooking? It smells so delicious!"
His adorable baby voice nearly melted the hearts of the nearby sub-beastmen.
Unfortunately, Hu Yan wasn’t one of them. Two tiny paws were gripping his hair, and every time Xiao Yi leaned forward, his claws dug deeper into his scalp.
"You little brat! Get down!"
Xiao Yi ignored him and stretched his neck to look into the pot.
"Father, there’s so much meat!"
"Of course there’s a lot of meat! Do you think I’m cooking for one little glutton like you?"
Hu Yan gritted his teeth. "Get down right now! Or are you waiting to be boiled in this soup? If you fall inside, I won’t even bother fishing you out!"
Xiao Yi immediately straightened his back.
"Father, my grip is very strong!"
Hu Yan narrowed his eyes. "Oh? Is that so?"
"Of course! I’ve practiced my claws on stones!" Before Hu Yan could react, the little cub tightened his grip to demonstrate his strength.
"Ouch!"
A sharp pain shot across Hu Yan’s scalp.
"YOU LITTLE—!"
He reached up, grabbed the chubby cub by the neck, and pulled him off his head.
Xiao Yi’s paws finally released his hair. Hu Yan glanced at the few strands caught between his son’s claws and felt his heart ache. This brat had inherited his sharp claws but apparently none of his good sense!
"Go play somewhere else!" he barked.
"But I want to see the soup!"
"Then look at it from the ground!"
"I can’t see properly!"
"THAT’S YOUR PROBLEM!"
Hu Yan tossed him away from the cooking pot.
Several sub-beastmen gasped, but before anyone could panic, Xiao Yi unfurled his little wings and descended gracefully. He landed on the ground, then shook his wings proudly.
Hu Yan stared at him helplessly.
Every day, Xiao Yi found a new opportunity to show off his wings. Sometimes he flew over the roof, and sometimes he hovered above people’s heads just to demonstrate how well he could land.
He was only a little cub, yet he already behaved as if Dragon Beast City belonged to him.
Hu Yan rubbed his aching scalp and pointed away from the pot.
"Go away!"
Xiao Yi looked at his father, then at the delicious soup.
"Father, can I have meat soup before I go?"
"No!"
"Then I’ll stay!"
Before Hu Yan could respond, the little cub spread his wings and flew beside the cooking pot, peeking inside while humming happily.
Hu Yan’s face darkened.
The little brat was flying around him like a giant fly!
Worse, Xiao Yi’s flying skills were still developing. His chubby body wobbled whenever he turned, making Hu Yan worry that he would accidentally fall into the pot.
"Xiao Yi! Stop flying around the pot!"
"But I’m not touching it!"
Hu Yan took a deep breath and reminded himself that this was his own son. He had carried him when he was tiny, fed him, and watched him grow.
He couldn’t possibly strangle his own child.
Even if that child was currently threatening to make him lose all his hair. His gaze shifted toward the line of customers. An idea suddenly struck him.
Since the brat had so much energy, why not put it to good use?
"Xiao Yi!"
"Yes, Father?"
"Go over there and attract more customers. The line is too short!"
Xiao Yi turned toward the crowd. There were already plenty of beastmen waiting, but his father was truly amazing. Even such a long line wasn’t enough to satisfy him!
The little cub immediately puffed out his chest. "All right, Father! Leave it to me!"
"Good. Don’t come back until you’ve attracted more customers!"
Xiao Yi happily flapped his wings and flew away.
Hu Yan finally let out a sigh of relief. At last, he could cook without worrying about a little tiger cub falling into his soup. He had no idea that he had just made the biggest mistake of the day.
Xiao Yi landed near a group of beastmen who were chatting. He tilted his head, studying them until his eyes suddenly lit up.
A beautiful female beastman was standing nearby. He immediately flew over.
"Pretty Sister!"
The female turned around, and her eyes widened at the sight of the chubby little tiger cub with white fur, golden stripes, and tiny wings.
"Oh my goodness! Where did this adorable cub come from?"
Xiao Yi raised his little face and smiled sweetly.
"Pretty Sister, you’re so beautiful!"
The female’s heart nearly melted.
"Really?"
"Really! You’re the prettiest sister I’ve ever seen!"
She crouched down, wanting to pinch his chubby cheek, but Xiao Yi quickly raised a paw to stop her.
"No touching my face!"
The female froze before bursting into laughter.
"All right! Can I touch your head instead?"
Xiao Yi considered the request seriously.
"Only once!"
She gently patted his head, looking even more delighted.
How could a cub be this adorable?
Another female beastman hurried over after hearing the commotion.
"What’s happening?"
"Look at this little cub!"
The second female’s eyes widened.
"A flying tiger cub?!"
Xiao Yi immediately spread his wings.
"That’s right! I can fly!" He flapped them and rose into the air before landing neatly in front of the two females.
"Can I touch your wings?" the second female asked excitedly.
Xiao Yi held up one paw.
"Only once!"
"I promise!"
She gently touched one wing, then sighed in admiration.
"So soft!"
Xiao Yi promptly pulled his wing back.
"That’s enough!"
The female reluctantly withdrew her hand. His strict little rules somehow made him even cuter.
Soon, more beastmen gathered around. Everyone wanted to see the unusual cub, and Xiao Yi quickly found himself surrounded by curious faces.
At first, he was a little overwhelmed. Then he remembered his father’s instructions. He was supposed to attract customers! His eyes brightened as he spread his wings and puffed out his chest.
"Pretty sisters, handsome brothers, are you hungry?"
The beastmen laughed. "Of course we’re hungry!"
"Then come and buy food!" Xiao Yi announced proudly. "My father cooks the most delicious meat soup in the whole city!"
One female beastman asked curiously, "Have you eaten it yourself?"
Xiao Yi paused. He had smelled it, stared at it, and nearly risked his life to get a taste. But his father hadn’t given him any!
Still, he was a clever cub. He nodded confidently. "Of course! My father is the best cook!"
