The mermaid cub Yuze is found to have left the Heavenly God Estate and is harshly reprimanded by Cang Ling and Cang Hai in the Abyssal Deep. Cang Hai cruelly grips Yuze by the throat and then throws him out of the palace window into the sea, leaving the cub to fend for himself. Yuze resolves to survive so he can see Yue Yue again and dives into the deep water.

Meanwhile, inside the stone hall, the violent tension between the two men broke out once again the moment the cub was thrown out.

Cang Hai turned his dark, cold gaze onto Cang Ling. "Where did you actually find the boy today?"

Cang Ling folded his arms across his broad chest, replying in a flat, indifferent tone. "Near the outer pond of the Heavenly God Estate."

Cang Hai’s eyes flashed with a sudden, sharp light. "The Heavenly God Estate? What on earth were you doing all the way out there..."

Before Cang Hai could finish his question, his gaze happened to fall upon the silent female, Liang Rou, who was still standing quietly in the shadows.

A mocking smirk suddenly stretched across Cang Hai’s face.

He snickered darkly, his tone dripping with cruel mockery. "Ah... of course. It seems someone still can’t let go of that dead man, can she?"

The moment those insulting words left his mouth, the lifeless look in Liang Rou’s eyes vanished completely!

A furious, terrifying fire burst from her pupils. She stepped forward, her teeth gritted so hard they nearly bled as she pointed a trembling finger right at Cang Hai’s face!

"Shut your filthy mouth!" Liang Rou screamed, her voice shaking with intense rage. "I am not talking to you! Don’t you dare speak nonsense in front of me!"

Cang Hai merely scoffed, his eyes glinting with a strange mixture of fear and contempt.

Liang Rou didn’t give him a single glance.

Just as Liang Rou turned her back to leave, Cang Hai’s cold, mocking voice cut through the heavy silence like a sharp blade.

"Why so furious, Liang Rou?" Cang Hai taunted, a nasty smile spreading across his face as he took a step toward her. "Did I say something wrong that made you this angry?"

Liang Rou stopped in her tracks, her back stiffening, but she did not turn around.

Cang Hai scoffed loudly, his tone dripping with sheer contempt.

"You pretend to be so pure, so faithful to that dead snake from your past! But what about my brother? What about Brother Cang Ling?!"

Cang Ling, who was standing quietly near the stone pillar, frowned and called out in a warning tone, "Cang Hai, that’s enough..."

"No, Brother! I will not be quiet!" Cang Hai shouted, completely ignoring Cang Ling’s intervention. He pointed a finger at Liang Rou’s back, throwing all kinds of sarcastic remarks straight at her.

"More than a century has passed!" Cang Hai sneered ruthlessly.

"Over a hundred years! Yet you have not given Brother Cang Ling a single cub! Is he just a convenient toy for you to use whenever you feel like it?!"

"Whenever you’re hurting or need something, you run to him, crying and begging for his help! And the moment you don’t need him anymore, you throw him away like trash!"

Liang Rou stood completely frozen, her long fingernails digging so deeply into her palms that her skin almost tore.

"Cang Hai, stop it!" Cang Ling called out again, his voice carrying a heavy, suppressed pain as he tried to protect her.

Yet Liang Rou did not need protection. Slowly, she turned around. Her face was no longer just pale... It was livid with an absolute, terrifying rage!

Her dark eyes locked onto Cang Hai’s face, her lips curling into a cold, lethal sneer as she spat out her words one by one.

"The way you people treat your cubs in this wretched Abyssal Deep..." Liang Rou’s voice was like a sharp ice hitting stone.

"It is far better that I don’t give your brother a single child! I could never bear to see my own flesh and blood treated like a piece of meat by monsters like you!"

With those harsh, biting words left behind, Liang Rou turned around to leave. She felt like the air in this palace was suffocating her, choking the very life out of her chest.

As she walked away, she desperately avoided looking at Cang Ling’s face.

Even though she could feel his heavy, piercing gaze boring into her back... A gaze filled with a complex mixture of deep hurt, sorrow, and unreadable anger she simply could not bring herself to look him in the eyes.

However, Cang Hai was completely infuriated by her harsh insult!

Being accused of being a monster by a female who had abandoned her own past completely set his rage on fire.

"Oh! So now you care about cubs?!" Cang Hai roared at the top of his lungs, his voice echoing violently off the high stone walls.

"How hypocritical! Did you care about Xuan Long back then?!"

Liang Rou’s footsteps faltered for a fraction of a second.

"I’ve heard all about how he grew up!" Cang Hai shouted viciously, his eyes wild with cold triumph as he targeted her deepest wound.

"He was mistreated to the point of starving as a little child! He was locked away in pitch-black rooms for days on end! Even if our Deep Clan treats our cubs harshly, our ways are still a hundred times better than what happened to your own son, you cold-blooded snake!"

In Cang Hai’s eyes, she was nothing more than a heartless, selfish female who had no right to judge anyone else.

"Cang Hai!" Cang Ling finally snapped, his powerful aura flaring out in an explosive wave of anger. "Shut your mouth and get out!"

Cang Hai flinched under his brother’s overwhelming pressure.

Mummuring a few furious curses under his breath, he threw one last disdainful glare at the hallway where Liang Rou had disappeared before turning on his heel and storming out of the palace.

Cang Ling stood completely still in the middle of the massive, empty hall.

The heavy silence of the Abyssal Deep settled back into the room like a heavy cloak.

Gradually, all the anger, frustration, and intense sorrow that had surfaced on Cang Ling’s broad face began to melt away.

The dark storm in his eyes subsided, leaving behind a face as still and blank as a carved stone statue.

He didn’t chase after Liang Rou. He didn’t yell at his brother.

He just stood there in the vast, cold hall, staring blankly into the endless blue light of the sea outside the palace windows.

After a long, agonising silence, a bitter, self-deprecating smile slowly curved the corner of his lips.

A quiet chuckle escaped his throat... a sound filled with deep irony and unspoken heartbreak.

"Destined mates..." Cang Ling muttered softly to himself, his deep voice carrying a heavy, suffocating weight.

He closed his eyes, his tone laced with profound sorrow and absolute detestation for the cruel cruelties of fate.

"So this is what it means to be destined mates..."

What a grand joke.

Heaven had tied their souls together with an unbreakable bond of destiny, yet in reality, the two of them could not even stand in the same room and speak peacefully to each other for a single day.
