Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off Chapter 719: Rong Ye’s Terrible Explanation
Previously on Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off...
Rong Ye did not know whether to laugh or cry.
The drama outside was already intense enough, and now these two little drama queens were adding background music.
Before the cubs could run out and interrupt the couple, Rong Ye quickly scooped them both up under his arms, dragging them back into the safety of the inner room.
"Alright, that’s enough looking! You shouldn’t see what adults do when they are... ’fighting’" Rong Ye said, hurriedly shutting the door behind them.
He sat the two crying cubs on the soft bed and tried to placate them.
"Who said your mother is going to beat him? Have you ever seen your mother beat anyone? She is the gentlest female in the entire beast world."
Xiao Yi sniffed miserably, his big golden eyes staring up at him.
"But... but Uncle You was also bleeding when Aunt San beat him. Father is bleeding too! Mama bit him!"
"Your mother is different," Rong Ye sighed, rubbing his temples.
"And you two really need to stop watching the neighbours. It’s bad for your mental development."
Xiao Er wiped his nose against the fur blankets, whispering weakly, "So... Mama is really not going to beat Father?"
Rong Ye’s lips curved into a wicked, teasing smirk.
He wiggled his fox ears and leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper.
"Well... not with her fists, no. But your mother has her own special ways of ’punishing’ your father inside the bedroom. It involves a lot of shouting, but trust me, your father will enjoy every single second of it."
The two little tiger cubs blinked their round eyes in complete confusion.
They did not understand the hidden meaning behind Rong Ye’s words at all, but seeing his weird, creepy smile, they thought it meant something even worse.
Did "different ways of punishment" mean something more painful than a broom? Like being fed raw meat forever? Or being locked in the dark room?
The cubs’ imagination ran wild, and within a second, they burst into an even louder, more desperate round of tears.
"Uwahhhh! Father is going to get a worse punishment! Noooo!"
Thud!
Before Rong Ye could even open his mouth to explain, a massive, heavy fur pillow flew through the air and smacked him squarely in the face.
"Shut up, Rong Ye!" Shi Feng’s deep, irritated voice echoed from the doorway.
The lion beastman strode into the room, glaring at the fox.
"What kind of absolute nonsense are you spitting in front of the children? Do you want Lanlan to bite your lips off next?"
Rong Ye pulled the pillow off his face, muttering defensively, "I was just comforting them! It’s not my fault they have no imagination."
Shi Feng ignored him completely. He walked over to the bed and gently gathered both crying tiger cubs into his massive, warm arms, cradling them against his chest.
His deep, rumbling voice acted like a soothing balm to their frayed nerves.
"Shh, go to sleep," Shi Feng murmured, gently patting their small backs.
"No one is going to beat anyone. Your father, Hu Yan, is completely fine. He is very strong, and your mother loves him very much. They are just... playing a game together outside. There is no punishment."
Under Shi Feng’s warm, steady embrace and gentle words, the two exhausted cubs finally began to calm down. Their frantic sobbing turned into small, hiccuping sniffs.
"Really?" Xiao Yi murmured, his eyelids growing heavy. "They are just playing?"
"Yes," Shi Feng lied smoothly, his face completely serious.
"It is a game adult beastmen and females play. Now, close your eyes and sleep. Your stomach needs to rest."
The two little tiger cubs finally let out a long, tired sigh.
Snuggling deep into Shi Feng’s warm chest, they closed their eyes, completely exhausted from the long, chaotic day of adventures, rogue beasts, cold food, and terrifying adult "games."
Within minutes, the quiet sound of soft, steady breathing filled the room, and the house finally returned to a peaceful, warm winter silence.
***
Stove had watched the entire hallway drama from the darkest corner, keeping his green vines wrapped tightly around his body so no one would notice him.
He had stayed as silent as a statue, barely daring to breathe.
When Su Qinglan finally dragged Hu Yan into the bedroom and the door closed with a loud bang,
Stove let out a massive sigh of relief.
Only the Beast Gods knew what kind of "punishment" Hu Yan was going to receive inside, but Stove was just glad the spotlight was off him.
He violently shuddered when he remembered Han Jue’s chilling warning from earlier.
If Master ever found out that he had sensed the cubs sneaking out through the wall and failed to report it immediately, he would be completely doomed.
His body would probably be turned into firewood! Fortunately, the chaos with the sick cubs and the mates argument had made everyone completely forget about him.
Stove had absolutely no desire to remind them of his existence.
Creeping out of the main house, Stove gently grabbed little Hua by her leaves and immediately guided the spiritual plants toward the next house, where the grandfather lived.
Inside the grandfather’s kitchen, the scene was pure, chaotic comedy.
Old Grandpa, in his human form, was standing in front of a massive stone pot, trying his best to brew a warm soup for the family.
However, he wasn’t a natural cook.
Surrounding him were all the little spiritual plants, crowding the countertops and buzzing with excitement.
One plant was trying to drop a bitter medicinal root into the pot, while another was shaking its leaves to drop weird seeds into the broth.
"Drop this one! It makes it sweet!" one little plant seemed to gesture. "No, drop this! It smells like grass!" another vibrated.
Stove immediately rushed inside the kitchen, waving his vines frantically. "Not that! Not that! You are going to ruin the whole pot! Grandpa, step back and listen to me!"
Old Grandpa stopped, holding a large wooden ladle, and looked at the little spirit with a helpless smile.
Stove immediately took charge, positioning himself on a high stool right next to the pot.
He knew every single one of the delicious recipes by heart, having watched the master’s husbands cook for months.
The only problem was that his thin, useless, clumsy vines could not handle heavy stone pots or chop thick chunks of meat efficiently.
But now, with the grandfather providing the strong human hands and Stove providing the intelligent culinary mind, they made the perfect team.
"Grandpa, chop that dried meat into smaller pieces! Yes, like that!" Stove commanded happily.
"Now, add two pinches of salt, not a whole handful! Little Hua, stop throwing random weeds into the soup!"
The kitchen instantly became loud, chaotic, and incredibly happy.
For the first time, they were cooking a massive feast completely by themselves.
After all, the extended family had grown so large, and they couldn’t shamelessly go to Su Qinglan’s house to freeload every single day.
With Stove shouting directions and the grandfather cheerfully stirring the giant ladle, a rich, mouth-watering aroma began to fill the chaotic house, promising a wonderful winter dinner for everyone.
