Rong Ye stepped closer, a wicked smirk playing on his lips as he crossed his arms.

He had just been forced to stand outside in the freezing cold while Xuan Long monopolized their female, and he was practically dying to vent his frustration on someone.

A naughty, runaway little brother-in-law was the absolute perfect target.

"You know..." Rong Ye muttered thoughtfully, tapping his chin as he stared at the squirming little imoogi.

"The City Lord has been searching for you all morning. He looked very eager to discuss your recent behavior."

Mo Xiao Li’s eyes turned into watery saucers as he frantically thrashed his tiny front paws, silently begging for mercy.

"As good family members, we absolutely must carry you right back to him," Rong Ye smiled brightly, his fox ears twitching with absolute delight.

"Shi Feng, hold onto him tight. Let’s make sure our father in law gets his runaway package delivered straight to the house."

Dangling upside down from the lion’s paw, Mo Xiao Li let out a silent, internal wail. ’I’m dead! I’m completely dead!’

Realizing he couldn’t wiggle his way out of this as an imoogi, his small body flashed with light, and he immediately transformed back into his human form.

Without wasting a single second, he deployed every single suck-up tactic he had ever learned in his life.

"Brother-in-law! Dearest, most handsome brothers-in-law!" Mo Xiao Li cried out, his hands clasped together as he looked at Rong Ye and Shi Feng with wide, watery, pathetic eyes.

"Please, I beg you! Don’t take me to my father! You know how City Lord gets when he’s angry! If he sees me right now, he won’t just scold me...he’ll skin me alive, turn me into a rug, and use my scales to pave the courtyard!"

Just imagining his furious father’s face made Mo Xiao Li want to literally dissolve into the dirt and disappear from the face of the earth.

He looked over his shoulder, desperately seeking some emotional comfort from his two nephews, hoping they could all gang up and beg together.

But the moment his eyes fell on the cubs, Mo Xiao Li instantly gloated.

He couldn’t even help the sudden smirk that twitched on his lips.

Their condition was absolutely no better than his! In fact, it was significantly worse.

Hu Yan didn’t even bother waiting for an explanation.

With a dark, towering shadow looming over them, the massive tiger father reached down and ruthlessly grabbed Xiao Yi and Xiao Er right by the scruff of their fluffy necks.

The two little tiger cubs dangled limply in the air, their fat paws tucked in, their ears pinned flat against their heads, looking like two utterly defeated, miserable fuzzy potatoes.

Mo Xiao Li let out a quiet sigh of relief.

’Ah, even though my fate is miserable, at least these two are right down here in the trenches with me.’

Knowing he wasn’t the only one about to face the wrath of the household gave him a strange, profound sense of emotional support.

Meanwhile, Stove was busy handling the final member of the runaway crew.

Little Hua had been hiding tremblingly behind a small rock, trying to pretend to be a normal, inanimate winter weed.

Stove zipped over, scooped the little spiritual plant up, and immediately hopped right onto Han Jue’s broad shoulder for protection.

The moment he was safe, Stove’s mouth started running at a hundred miles an hour, completely boosting himself.

"Han Jue, you have no idea! If not for my grand, heroic presence, these cubs would have been in a much worse condition!" Stove chattered loudly, waving his green leaves in the air.

"I fought off those beasts with my life! I am the ultimate guardian spirit! I practically saved the day single-handedly! You should really praise me to Master later..."

Han Jue didn’t even look at him. He muttered in a flat, freezing tone, "Save your grand explanation for Lan Lan."

Stove’s leaves instantly went stiff.

"After all," Han Jue continued, his voice dripping with low danger, "Why exactly didn’t you inform us the moment the cubs actually ran out of the city gates, hmm?"

Stove violently shuddered, his spirit body instantly turning cold.

’Why did I have to babble so much?!’ Stove screamed internally, desperately wanting to slap his own mouth. ’Can’t I just shut up for once?!’

With Hu Yan carrying two silent, dangling tiger cubs, Han Jue carrying a deeply regretful Stove, and Rong Ye and Shi Feng firmly escorting a trembling Mo Xiao Li, the group began their slow, terrifying march back to the house.

The crisp winter air was filled with the silent, desperate prayers of five very regretful gluttons.

Hu Yan was literally seething with anger. He could not believe that his cubs had become such fools that they would actually sneak out past the tall walls of the city.

If they had stayed inside the city, they would have been completely fine.

Only he knew how much his heart had almost stopped beating when he saw his eldest son flying through the air and the others almost beaten to death by those evil, ferocious beasts. He was completely enraged.

And how had they actually sneaked out?

They had managed to find a little bunny hole near the base of the city wall, which had been cracked open by a small beast. Not many people had ever discovered it because it was so well hidden.

When the family first realized the cubs were missing, Hu Yan had grown incredibly angry and desperate.

They searched the entire city, but the cubs were nowhere to be found. Even Su Qinglan’s parents, Su Mingxuan and Wang Mulan, had been completely alarmed by their disappearance.

To make matters worse, Mo Xiao Li was also nowhere to be found. Everyone had searched frantically until Han Jue finally caught the scent of the sons near that hidden wall hole.

The moment Hu Yan realized they had actually run outside the city, his entire body had frozen stiff with sheer terror.

He, alongside Han Jue, Rong Ye, and Shi Feng, immediately dashed into the forest following that faint scent trail.
