Kang Weizhen introduces her daughter, Sheng Yang, to her cousin Sheng Yue, who is surprised by Sheng Yang's beauty and poise, unlike the rough image she had imagined. As the girls meet for the first time, the atmosphere is a mix of curiosity and tension, with Sheng Yang remaining distant and unengaged. Kang Weizhen leaves the room, hoping that the two younger girls will bond, but instead, the siblings experience an awkward moment as Sheng Yuxi grapples with his unfamiliarity with his long-lost sister. Meanwhile, Sheng Yue tries to initiate a conversation with Sheng Yang, who remains absorbed in her book.

A quick glance revealed that the volume in the girl's hands was written in English.

Sheng Yue’s lips curled into a faint, mocking sneer.

She had been informed that this newcomer was nothing more than a provincial girl from the countryside. Raised by a mute old woman, she had been malnourished and her growth was stunted. Apparently, she didn't even start speaking until the age of four and had barely managed to enroll in some third-rate rural high school.

This book must have been a gift from Auntie. What a pointless gesture! She couldn't understand why Auntie would even bother with her.

Hiding her deep-seated disdain for Sheng Yang, Sheng Yue forced a gentle smile onto her face. “Don’t hesitate to ask me if there’s anything you don’t understand. I’d love to help you.”

Sheng Yuxi chimed in, “That's right, Yueyue’s grades are excellent, particularly in English. Even I can't keep up with her in that subject.”

Sheng Yang offered no response, but Sheng Yue remained undeterred. She moved a step closer, leaning down slightly, waiting for Sheng Yang to stumble over an English vocabulary word so she could immediately provide the answer. After all, she wanted everyone to see just how kind and considerate she was being.

However… she watched as Sheng Yang's fingers blurred, flipping through the pages with such incredible speed that it created afterimages.

At that pace, it was impossible to even see the words, let alone comprehend the content. While she was still processing this, Sheng Yang turned another page.

Denied the opportunity to show off, Sheng Yue remarked sourly, “You shouldn’t read books like this. It’s a waste of time.”

“Do you have a problem with this?” Sheng Yang turned her head. Her breathtakingly beautiful face remained expressionless, but her amber eyes flashed with a terrifying, icy chill.

Sheng Yuxi froze, his pupils narrowing as he stared at her.

This cold and haughty aura was completely different from what he had expected of his sister. In fact, she reminded him of his eldest brother—the man he admired most in the world.

Since he actually enjoyed being lectured by his eldest brother, he suddenly felt a strange sense of kinship with this sister!

“No, not at all. Sister, this is your book. You can read it in whichever way you’d like,” Sheng Yuxi replied quickly.

His previous awkwardness vanished, and he couldn't help but call her “Sister.”

Sheng Yue glared at Sheng Yuxi, her expression filled with bitterness.

Was their years of sibling-like friendship really so insignificant?

Her eyes caught the sight of the polished, jet-black piano in the room, and a new idea formed. She strolled over to the instrument. “This piano is so beautiful. Was it a gift from Eldest Brother? I actually have an identical Yamaha piano at home from the Radius series. Eldest Brother gave it to me; he brings me gifts every time he travels abroad. The shipping costs alone were enough to purchase a whole new piano. I’ve told him repeatedly not to spend so much, but he simply won’t listen.”

She paused for effect. “By the way, Yangyang, I assume you aren't familiar with the Yamaha brand? Eldest Brother treats me so well. Yamaha is a world-class piano manufacturer, and the one in my house is valued at nearly one million yuan.”

She threw a provocative look toward Sheng Yang as she finished speaking.

Sheng Yang merely gave the piano a passing glance. “This one is different from yours. Your piano isn’t very good.”

In the Yamaha lineup, the YC series was the pinnacle, while the YS series was the entry-level. The Radius series was specifically marketed toward wealthy individuals who lacked technical knowledge about pianos. Although it utilized the high-end YC series exterior, the internal components were actually from the cheaper YS series. While Sheng Yue believed her piano was identical to this one, the internal configurations were worlds apart—and the configuration was where the true value lay.

The piano standing before them was clearly a genuine YC series. Whoever had purchased it possessed excellent taste.

Sheng Yue’s face flushed red. She had practically begged her Eldest Cousin to import that piano for her, believing it to be the most expensive and rare model since it wasn't sold domestically.

Feeling irritated, Sheng Yue flipped open the piano lid and sat down with practiced grace. Like a regal white swan, she held her slender neck high and placed her fingers upon the keys.
