As the car door swung open, a group of middle-aged women emerged. Dressed in matching uniforms, they carried the air of seasoned professional staff.
The couple stepped out simultaneously. With a warm smile, Kang Weizhen said, “I’ve spent the last couple of days making arrangements, Granny Liu. These are the maids I’ve hired for you; they will manage your meals, clothing, housing, and travel. Furthermore, I have purchased the village chief’s five-story residence. It belongs to you now. You took care of Yangyang for us, and it is only right that we repay you. No matter our efforts, we can never truly compensate you for such immense kindness. From this moment on, you needn't worry about a single thing—just focus on enjoying your life.”
The surrounding onlookers stared in stunned silence, their hearts filled with envy and bitterness.
Deep down, they lamented: why hadn't they been the ones to perform such a virtuous deed?

And so, Sheng Yang made her return to her new residence in Yan City.
A year prior, the original Sheng Yang had perished in a car accident. Afterward, she had inexplicably transmigrated into this physical form and gained a unique ability. Only recently, the biological parents of the original Sheng Yang had suddenly arrived at the village, requesting her return to the family home. She had been reluctant to depart, but Grandma Liu insisted she go, fearing that staying in the countryside would ruin her future prospects. Since Grandma Liu’s health was fragile, Sheng Yang didn't want to cause her any distress by arguing. Moreover, seeing the extensive provisions the Sheng Family had made for the elderly woman's future, her worries were laid to rest.
She lay back on the bed, lost in thought as she gazed at the ceiling, which had been painted to resemble a shimmering starry sky.
Three days had already passed since she moved into this house.
A soft knock sounded at the door. “Come in.”
Kang Weizhen, the biological mother she had been parted from for seventeen years, entered quietly while carrying a tray. She walked directly to the bedside and sat down carefully.
“Yangyang.” She spoke with a tender smile. “Your father is away on a business trip, but he bought bird’s nest, shark fin, and fish maw for you. I’ve prepared a soup using each one. Which of these would you prefer to try?”
Sheng Yang glanced at the small tray being presented to her, her lips twitching slightly. The setup looked as though it were designed for a bedridden patient.
Noticing Sheng Yang’s expressionless face, Kang Weizhen asked tentatively and with great caution, “Or perhaps you'd like to have them all?”
She paused to consider. “While you certainly can, give me a moment to consult our family doctor first, Yangyang.”
“That won't be necessary.” Meeting her mother's hopeful gaze, Sheng Yang reached for the bowl of bird’s nest and said nonchalantly, “I’ll have this one.”
Kang Weizhen watched her intently, filing the information away in her mind.
So, it seemed Yangyang had a preference for bird’s nest...
Kang Weizhen was putting every effort into building a mother-daughter bond, though it appeared rather one-sided. More often than not, the girl’s responses were brief and detached, yet this did nothing to dampen Kang Weizhen’s spirits. She felt certain that through her persistence, their relationship was slowly beginning to thaw.
Suddenly, Kang Weizhen’s phone began to ring. Irritated that this precious moment was being ruined, she scowled and shot a sharp look at the device.
Quickly turning away, she snatched up the phone and barked, “What is it?”
Sheng Yang’s slender, pale fingers paused mid-motion with her spoon.
Realizing she had let her temper show, Kang Weizhen immediately turned back with a smile for Sheng Yang. “Yangyang, finish your soup slowly. I need to take this call.”
After Sheng Yang gave a nod, Kang Weizhen hurried over to the bookshelf to answer. Her expression shifted once more as she listened.
A few moments later, Kang Weizhen returned, nervously smoothing her hair. “Yangyang, your third brother has arrived. He’s currently downstairs. Would you like to meet him?”
Before two seconds could pass, she added with the gentlest smile possible, “If you don't want to see him, that’s perfectly fine too.”
Knowing a meeting was inevitable, Sheng Yang nodded. “Alright.”
Kang Weizhen was delighted. The fact that Yangyang didn't object to meeting her relatives suggested she was trying her best to integrate into the family.

Sheng Yang’s bedroom was massive, spanning over 100 square meters. It was a duplex suite featuring its own living area, a walk-in closet, a gaming room, and more. It was a self-contained world that Kang Weizhen had meticulously prepared for her.
It was here that she first encountered her third brother, Sheng Yuxi. She observed him silently. Though they were likely the same age, he appeared quite timid and anxious in her presence.
However, when Sheng Yuxi summoned the courage to look at his sister, he found himself breathless.
Earlier on the telephone, his mother had forbidden him from seeing her, snapping fiercely, “You’re ugly. What if you frighten Yangyang?” He had touched his face, feeling quite wronged. Before graduation, he had been the most popular boy in school. How could his mother describe him that way?
But upon seeing his sister... he suddenly realized that when it came to looks, he really was the "ugly duckling" of the family!
He had always heard that his mother was a peerless beauty in her youth. He had seen the old photographs, but he had to admit the girl before him was even more stunning. Her ethereal aura, the slight tilt of her eyes, and her flawless features were truly captivating.
“Hi... hello.” A faint flush of red spread across Sheng Yuxi’s fair complexion.
In contrast to his nerves, Sheng Yang remained composed. She offered a small smile. “Hello.”
“Address her as Sister!” Kang Weizhen’s tone turned sharp the moment she spoke to Sheng Yuxi. Yet, in the blink of an eye, she turned back to Sheng Yang with a soft, doting expression. “Look at your sister; she is much more well-mannered than you are.”
Just then, a sweet-sounding voice drifted in from the doorway. “Third Brother, can I come in?”
