Cheng Su shares apples with Sister-in-law Song and her eager twins, Song Jiawen and Song Jiawu, while tuning the TV to cartoons. Sister-in-law Song bluntly complains about their cramped new house compared to their spacious hometown, envies Cheng Su's larger home and restaurant business, and candidly recounts her decade-long marriage marked by separations and recent family changes allowing her to join her husband. Cheng Su listens politely as they discuss the twins' upcoming kindergarten enrollment.

People often say Sister-in-law Song is blunt and straightforward, and that reputation holds true. She dropped by with her children for a visit. Though it marked her very first time, showing up empty-handed was tolerable. Yet, while chatting with Cheng Su, she blurted out whatever came to mind without any restraint.

What's more, she chowed down nonstop even as she spoke, holding nothing back.

Cheng Su observed her with icy detachment. The woman had lingered for nearly an hour, polishing off two apples, five bites of date cake, and two servings of Sachima treats—all sourced straight from Cheng Su's kitchen.

Fine if she'd only stuffed herself, but no, she proceeded to feed her boy as well.

Cheng Su grew thoroughly irritated and stifled two yawns to signal her weariness.

Someone perceptive would catch the hint and head out, yet Sister-in-law Song seemed oblivious, blabbering on boisterously with her voice droning through the air like an incessant hum.

Even Qi Xiaoqi had reached his limit. Lounging on the sofa beside Cheng Su, he suddenly erupted into piercing cries.

Cheng Su jumped in shock. Her little one had never wailed like that before. She inspected for a diaper issue but detected nothing amiss. Was the clamor frightening him?

Left with no alternative, she scooped up her son and addressed Sister-in-law Song, "Sister-in-law Song, I need to nurse the baby and put him to sleep now."

Her inflection made it obvious: guests should depart.

Yet Sister-in-law Song missed the point entirely. She snatched up another slice of cake and declared, "Oh, it’s fine. Go ahead and feed him. I’ll watch some TV!" She tacked on, "You all really have some skills here. I see only your family has such a big color TV!"

Cheng Su creased her brow and mustered a strained smile: "No, my child is a light sleeper and can’t be disturbed by noise. I only turned on the TV because he’s awake. When he’s sleeping, I don’t turn it on, and even if I do, the volume is very low."

Only at that point did Sister-in-law Song grasp the dismissal. She muttered "Oh," crammed the cake into her mouth, clapped her palms, and summoned her sons through a mouthful, "Wen and Wu, get up. It’s time to go home and not disturb your aunt putting your younger brother to sleep!"

Wen and Wu...

Cheng Su fought back a chuckle.

"But I want to watch TV!" Xiao Wu pouted.

Cheng Su replied, "Xiao Wu, be good. I need to put your brother to sleep. You can come back to watch another time!"

Xiao Wu sulked hard, prompting Sister-in-law Song to swat the back of his head, which set the kid off bawling. She hauled him out amid sobs that rang out all the way home, loud enough to rattle Cheng Su's place.

Cheng Su hurriedly directed Mother Cheng to shut the door. Surveying the table's disarray, she shook her head in dismay.

Sister-in-law Song was utterly clueless and brazen; she came off as someone utterly indifferent to basic etiquette.

"Goodness, how much did she eat?" Mother Cheng spotted it too, her face creasing in a frown.

She'd relocated to Qing City to look after her daughter, encountering plenty of luxuries without growing greedy over snacks; hailing from the countryside herself, she'd never abandoned decorum like that. Sister-in-law Song was simply... outrageous.

"Mom, could you please tidy up?" Cheng Su groaned, head throbbing. "From now on, let’s keep the door closed when we’re in and out of the house!"

"What do you mean by that?" Mother Cheng blinked in confusion.

Cheng Su softly relayed Sister-in-law Song’s behavior, leaving Mother Cheng at a loss for words as she remarked, "It seems like your new neighbor isn’t going to be easy to deal with!"

Cheng Su managed a wry grin. No doubt about it—the shameless ones always win. Should Sister-in-law Song cut loose, who could predict the fallout!

"It’ll be better once the houses are divided!" Cheng Su reassured both her mother and herself.

Meanwhile, little Qi Xiaoqi, his bright eyes darting playfully, quit crying the instant the Song family vanished, proving his remarkable smarts.
