Apocalypse: King of Zombies Chapter 1605: Has the Whole World Gone Insane?

With three Tier 47 Outland Beasts joining the battle, the fight became completely one-sided.
The seven lower-Tier Stage SSS fighters were no match for them. The Outland Beasts caught up almost instantly, and it wasn’t long before the seven were being torn apart.
"Patriarch! Save us!" they shouted.
But their Patriarchs could barely protect themselves. They had no chance to rescue anyone else.
The moment three more Tier 47 Outland Beasts appeared, despair set in for all three Patriarchs.
They knew they were finished.
"What are you waiting for?" the short man shouted at the hundreds of thousands of troops behind them. "Charge into the city and kill everyone!"
If they were going to lose, then the humans would pay a terrible price for their victory.
Besides, the more commotion they caused, the more likely they were to attract other powerful fighters. That might give them one last chance to survive.
At his command, the hundreds of thousands of Void Realm creatures charged New Atlas.
Miles calmly waved a hand.
A vast transparent barrier appeared, enveloping the entire city.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Hundreds of thousands of attacks slammed into it, sending ripples across its surface. The barrier itself remained completely intact.
"Attacks this weak won’t even come close to breaking it." Miles stood with his hands behind his back, his face full of confidence.
Inside New Atlas, tens of millions of civilians sat on the ground in their assigned areas, channeling streams of energy into the earth.
Miles had spent a long time developing this method. It used human energy in place of crystal cores.
When he’d constructed the warding circle in Fallen Star City, he had discovered several flaws in the design. Every ritual node required a buried crystal core, making the circle extremely difficult to set up. Activating it also consumed a huge amount of energy from the cores.
The cost wasn’t the only problem. If any of the crystal cores ran dry while the circle was active, there would be no time to replace them. The warding circle would grow steadily weaker until it failed altogether.
Miles had wrestled with the problem for a long time before finally coming up with this solution. After countless simulations, he had successfully implemented it in New Atlas.
The city’s residents might not be particularly strong individually, but the combined power of more than ten million people was almost unimaginable.
And not everyone in New Atlas was weak. All one hundred thousand members of the Fallen Star Corps had already reached Stage S. The forces once cultivated by the major compounds were also quite powerful.
Miles had absolute confidence in his warding circle.
If the hundreds of thousands of Void Realm creatures could somehow concentrate all their strength into a single person, breaking the barrier wouldn’t be difficult.
But that was obviously impossible.
Their scattered attacks posed no threat to it at all.
After bombarding the barrier for some time without leaving so much as a crack, the Void Realm creatures began to panic.
"What the hell is this thing? Why is it so tough?"
"No idea! I’ve never seen anything like it!"
"Who cares? Just keep attacking! No matter how strong a defense is, it’ll run out of energy eventually."
"Right!"
They resumed their frantic assault.
Miles smiled.
"Now it’s our turn."
"Attack!"
At his command, the Fallen Star Guard stationed around the edge of the warding circle unleashed their attacks. Powerful blasts shot through the barrier and tore into the Void Realm creatures outside.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Screams filled the air as entire groups of them dropped.
"What’s going on? Why can they hit us when we can’t hit them?"
"What kind of ridiculous defense is this?"
"It might be a human warding circle," someone finally recognized it.
"How do we break it?"
"I don’t know. I’ve only heard of them before. I’ve never seen one."
"..."
"What do we do now?"
"Run! We’re sitting ducks out here. They’ll wear us down until we’re all dead."
"But the Patriarch ordered us to attack..."
"The Patriarch can barely save himself! Why should we care about his orders? If we don’t run now, none of us will get away!"
"Okay..."
"You’re wrong. It’s already too late to run."
Ethan appeared behind them with the Dread-Eyed Lion at his side.
"You..."
The Void Realm creatures’ hearts sank at the sight of the two Stage SSS fighters blocking their retreat.
They might have overwhelming numbers, but numbers meant little against Stage SSS opponents.
"Split up! Escape in every direction! Whoever gets away, gets away!"
"Go!"
The Void Realm creatures scattered in all directions.
"Time for you to show me what you can do." Ethan glanced at the Dread-Eyed Lion.
"You got it."
The Dread-Eyed Lion stepped forward and flew above the fleeing crowd. The third eye on its forehead snapped open, releasing a beam of light that spread across the battlefield below.
Every Void Realm creature caught in the light collapsed without a sound.
There were no screams. No wounds.
They simply fell dead where they stood.
Ethan gave the Dread-Eyed Lion a surprised look.
The guy really did have some impressive abilities.
The rest of the Fallen Star Squad joined the attack, bombarding the fleeing creatures with wide-area skills.
At the same time, the second-echelon members led the Fallen Star Guard out of the city and began slaughtering the Void Realm forces, who had already lost all will to fight.
Ethan didn’t join them. He lacked wide-area skills, so this kind of battle wasn’t suited to him. He was much better at surprise attacks, which made the Stage SSS battlefield a better place for him.
The seven lower-Tier Stage SSS fighters had been helpless against the three Tier 47 Outland Beasts. Three were already dead, and the remaining four wouldn’t last much longer. There was no need for Ethan to interfere there.
Instead, he teleported to Abyron’s battlefield.
Abyron was locked in a fierce battle against six Tier 44 and Tier 45 fighters.
Ethan wasn’t sure he could kill a Tier 46 opponent, but a Tier 44 was well within his capabilities.
He waited for an opening, then activated Silencing Gaze.
The target froze and took a direct hit from Abyron, sending him flying. Ethan teleported after him and activated Soulbane Gaze. The instant the enemy’s mind went blank, Ethan brought his Poleaxe down on his head with Annihilation Strike.
Thud!
Before the Tier 44 Void Realm creature could react, his skull shattered. His body dropped straight out of the sky.
The sudden kill stunned everyone on the battlefield.
When they realized Ethan had done it, their eyes went wide.
"How is that possible?"
"A Tier 42 fighter just killed a Tier 44 in one blow?"
"Have I lost my mind, or has the whole world gone insane?"
