kiki’s expression grew grim as she observed the geothermal device, now submerged by a third. There was no alternative but to employ telekinesis to temporarily seal the escaping steam channel.
"Lin Xian, the regulating apparatus is failing. Where are you?" kiki’s voice crackled through her earpiece.
"Hold on!"
Boom, boom!
The sounds indicated an intense conflict unfolding on the level above. Through the surveillance feed, kiki witnessed the external Soul Swinging Value Detector registering a massive influx of creatures.
"A breach must have occurred here. None of us bear the mark, yet countless monstrosities are being drawn to this location!"
"Disregard the device for the moment."
Just then, Lin Xian arrived with Ding Junyi. "Seal the passage together, kiki! We're relocating everyone to the lowest level!" he instructed.
As Lin Xian finished speaking, he noticed kiki frozen, staring at the monitoring terminal in her hand with a look of utter shock.
"Lin... Lin Xian."
"What is it?"
"Look," kiki gestured, her expression unreadable as she pointed him toward the screen.
"It’s not a volcanic eruption?" Lin Xian inquired, walking into the hall with a sense of bewilderment and approaching the surveillance display.
However, his steps faltered as he raised his gaze.
The screen depicted lava spewing from the energy vent, forcefully displacing the seawater and painting the seabed in a flow of crimson. Turbulent air currents swirled, and amidst the radiating heat, a fiery glow illuminated the ocean floor.
This sight revealed something truly extraordinary to Lin Xian.
Before the vent, at varying depths, lava cascaded down like a celestial river. Ordinarily, it would form a continuous crimson stream.
Yet, this flowing lava was bifurcated a short distance away.
The molten rock split into two distinct currents, parting as if boulders were diverting a river. In the dividing space, the seawater was completely obliterated, leaving only roiling, boiling steam. Within the distorted vacuum created by the immense heat, a solitary black speck remained stationary.
At first glance, this minuscule dot was easily missed.
But on a magnified display, it became remarkably distinct.
It was a person!
Cloaked entirely in black fabric strips adorned with intricate golden patterns, only a pair of eyes were visible.
This figure sat serenely on the seabed, head tilted slightly upwards, wooden eyes exuding an aura of profound death, resembling a lifeless sculpture.
Upon closer inspection, the eruption from the vent was no longer purely crimson; it now carried dark undertones.
Magnification revealed these, too, were people!
They swarmed densely, akin to ants trapped in mud, enveloped by the lava and carried forward.
Upon reaching the ground, they struggled to stand, revealing shattered bodies one after another.
"What kind of abominations are these?!"
Someone exclaimed in sheer terror.
This surreal spectacle defied all expectations.
The peculiar figure seated on the seabed was uncanny enough, but even the broken corpses, immersed in lava, stood completely unharmed.
The eruption unleashing these monstrosities sent a wave of panic through everyone.
Simultaneously, the seabed itself began to writhe.
Like a snapped taut string, a violent tremor erupted through the otherwise calm ocean.
This was accompanied by a piercing, screeching hum, eerily masked by the surrounding darkness.
They moved like beasts starved for ten days, initiating a full-scale charge towards the vent.
The radar displayed a dense cluster of red dots, continuously overlapping during their frantic dash, eventually coalescing into an almost black circle, converging upon the vent.
The rampage of these abnormal entities churned the seawater into a frenzy, obscuring the surveillance feed with bubbles and mud.
Yet, just as the abnormal bodies reached the center, and the final monitor was about to go dark, the silently seated figure stirred.
Its head moved with mechanical precision, twisting and turning. Those vacant eyes unexpectedly locked directly onto the screen.
It was as if their gaze pierced through the very fabric of space, directly observing the individuals within the surveillance hall.
Lin Xian, who had been fixedly watching the screen, felt his thoughts freeze at the moment of shared eye contact. He was ensnared by some terrifying presence, and an instant chill ran down his spine, as if falling into an ice cellar.
What startled him even more was that the countdown timer on the screen suddenly began to accelerate.
"Move!"
Without a second's hesitation, Lin Xian immediately turned and urged everyone forward.
They could delay no longer.
Before them lay unknown horrors.
But the exchanged gaze instilled an instinctive sense of dread.
A chilling speculation formed in his mind.
It was highly probable that these abominations possessed intelligence!
Concurrently, his thoughts abruptly turned to the Foundation's archives.
The protocols for hunting abnormal bodies.
What capabilities did a mere Foundation possess to hunt such entities?
Setting aside the colossal Ocean God, even Special Level abnormal bodies were far beyond human capacity to confront.
Opening the vent for the abnormal bodies to find them was equivalent to courting death, much like their present predicament. But now, he finally understood. It wasn't the Foundation that was hunting the abnormal bodies; instead, it was even more bizarre creatures dwelling below that were the true threat. He remembered the warning about the submarine's evacuation coordinates: do not let *it* be discovered. It was highly probable that the warning wasn't referring to the Giant Ocean God, but rather that specific 'person'! Lin Xian remained uncertain if they had already been detected, but with the myriad of strange phenomena swirling around them, he knew a hasty departure was absolutely necessary!
