Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train Chapter 1155 - 445: Volcano

"Are we the torpedoes?" Lin Xian questioned, puzzled.
Ding Junyi pushed up her glasses: "A professional group like the Foundation surely wouldn't base their operation on guesswork or instant decisions. If it's an escape strategy, precise parameters would be set. Launching torpedoes wouldn't just be random chance, right?"
Lin Xian paused briefly after Ding Junyi spoke, tempted to inquire further, but noticing her composed stare, he knitted his brows and pieced it together.
"Clever."
Lin Xian's forehead smoothed out, and he promptly triggered the Mechanical Heart to unlock the forward watertight hatch before hurrying to the torpedo compartment.
A peculiar idea struck him right then, one he was keen to test.
Moments later, Lin Xian reached the torpedo bay. Eyeing the cluster of massive launch tubes crammed together, he employed his mechanical superpower to pull up details on every tube, displayed the interface, stepped to the closest one, and pulled out a portable device to try extracting the data.
Beep beep.
Following some anticipation, Lin Xian finished the analysis. That's when odd data flickered across the display, making his gaze spark instantly.
"Exactly!"
Those peculiar figures turned out to be pre-set launch settings for the enemy-drawing torpedoes. Every firing position was locked in advance, proving the sub's route was mapped out, far from a desperate seafloor bet.
This revelation hit Lin Xian like a bolt. He'd long puzzled over the Holy City's comings and goings at Sea Rock Island—were they all kamikaze teams charging into the Monster Tide's core with no return?
Yet now, that didn't hold. Holy City folks knew entry routes and exits alike, drawn from the Foundation's Offshore Base observations on Yuniya No.1.
"Every enemy-attracting torpedo has preloaded launch info, showing deep knowledge of each port and the domains of major Abnormal Bodies. They possess full charts of this ocean zone, so they know escape routes—which could be our chance!"
Ding Junyi lingered quietly behind Lin Xian and remarked, "Even with this confirmation, two issues remain."
"One, verifying the path. Relying solely on these set points might lead to big errors. With the insane bio-density around Sea Rock Island, blindly heading out means near-certain death."
"Two, it's a sub path. We run trains, Hawk Sea Group sails surface ships—our rides can't dive."
Lin Xian called up PX05 robots to assist exporting preset data from all tubes, then faced Ding Junyi: "Finding any exit in this zone is a miracle. Deep waters are bizarre and murky. The Foundation and Holy City have a secret fixed route trick. Let's dig it up, cross-check with local sea charts, and see what emerges. Plus, a ex-Foundation safety chief is with us."
"Besides," Lin Xian spun around, tone grave as he told Ding Junyi, "Who says we can't submerge?"
Ding Junyi's eyes flashed with shock and excitement at his words. After a beat, she replied outright, "Thrilling."
"Deep sea?"
"You."
Lin Xian felt a bit sheepish.
Ding Junyi stated flatly, "I can assist."
Seeing her look, Lin Xian coughed lightly, "How exactly?"
"Silver Dragon Ten Thousand Mistakes." Ding Junyi's lenses gleamed in the torpedo bay glow, "Grant me time, and I can make it flourish."
Lin Xian's eyes lit up at that, "Fine, then..."
Rumble!
Right as Lin Xian neared the end of his sentence, a massive quake struck, roiling the Black Water in the subterranean Deep Water Port. The docked nuclear sub rocked wildly, its insides shuddering fiercely.
In the torpedo bay, Lin Xian steadied the wobbling Ding Junyi, deployed four spider legs from his back to anchor in the hallway, sensed the intense external jolt, and his expression darkened as he uttered,
"Already?"
An unsettling premonition gripped Lin Xian. Nightfall remained hours away, but chaos had already spiraled past any hope of containment. His original plan was to observe the shifts at the release port before deploying his mechanical superpower to secure the geothermal core device and brace for the coming night.
Yet the violent tremors struck Lin Xian with instant dread, hinting that the submarine volcano had hit a dangerous threshold.
19:32:45
Lin Xian's thoughts churned wildly as he stared at the countdown display. What did it mean? Was this raging catastrophe completely detached from the timer?
"If an eruption happens, tectonic forces will unleash energy through every release port," Ding Junyi rushed to explain to Lin Xian.
"Including the geothermal vent we're standing at!"
Rumble!
At 3:06 PM, along the ocean ridge southeast of the continental shelf near Sea Rock Island, scorching lava burst from the ridge fissure, shredding the seabed into a lattice of glowing crimson cracks. Massive volumes of sulfur-heavy superheated water smashed into the magma, birthing thick columns of murky yellow-brown smoke that veiled the skies, while bubble clusters resembling molten glass boiled upward, vaporizing swarms of Abnormal Bodies, sea monsters, and water bugs into swirling black haze on contact.
