Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train Chapter 1153 - 444: Energy Vent Opening (Part 2)

He voiced his opinion outright, yet cut himself short midway, his gaze narrowing just a touch.
"Wait." Lin Xian turned to Ding Junyi: "What did you just say at the end?"
Ding Junyi pushed up her glasses: "I said, the crisis we’re facing matches exactly what they’ll confront."
Lin Xian’s face twisted in shock at her words, a sudden flash of insight hitting him, and he exclaimed:
"Clever thinking, Director Ding!"
With that, he dashed straight out of the compartment.
Gazing at Lin Xian’s retreating figure, Ding Junyi flashed a mysterious smile, then hurried after him from the vehicle, trailing him all the way to the submarine base’s monitoring hall.
Right then, inside the monitoring hall, KIKI and the team had fully activated every monitor stationed at the energy release valve. The ocean depths loomed dark and murky, yet the biological radar screen revealed clusters of red dots in assorted sizes, all shifting about actively.
"Lin Xian!"
Spotting Lin Xian’s arrival, KIKI shouted right away: "The energy release control valve stands ready for operation at any moment."
"The Deep 3 Earth Core Heat Induction Device’s stability axis has deviated. Overheating magma in the geothermal well has surpassed critical levels; by the looks of it, we’ve got under 12 hours left." Ryan was there in the hall too, with Vanessa at his side. Meanwhile, the rest of the Hawk Sea Group’s top personnel were outside, offloading supplies and leftover weaponry from the Sea Group.
The submarine base buzzed with sudden activity; the Hawk Sea Group’s hundreds included plenty of kids and women, plus a mecha unit crafted by Azir and the group’s mechanical experts. Disaster victims with prosthetics gained boosted movement thanks to those mechanical limbs.
"Let’s hurry and trigger the release valve; it might ease the pressure somewhat."
Lin Xian gave a nod. Noticing Qian Deli and Shu Qin nearby, he pressed on without pause, instructing KIKI: "Activate it immediately. KIKI, Ryan, monitor closely—I’m heading down for a check."
Surprisingly casual about the valve, Lin Xian rushed toward the submarine base’s lower deep-water dock. KIKI blinked in confusion, nearly calling him back, but spotted Ding Junyi close behind and held his tongue, settling in to commence the energy discharge via the controls.
"Lin?" Ryan slid his sunglasses down, looking puzzled right then.
"We’re firing it up straight away; he’s got other business." KIKI didn’t waver, remotely triggering the underwater energy release gate’s opening.
Boom!
KIKI’s fingers danced over the console’s holographic display, and far below in the Sea Rock Island southeast of Chasan Island’s seas, a massive mechanical rumble erupted. Beneath the vortex creature and the seafloor, the shadowy energy release gate cracked apart with blazing orange-red fissures.
The multi-meter-wide alloy barrier shattered amid hydraulic shrieks, unleashing pent-up geothermal core power in rivers of molten gold. Seawater nearby flashed to steam instantly. Massive bubble blasts roared across the cliffside like a atomic blast, radiation levels spiked wildly, vaporizing half the vortex creature’s form along with hordes of nearby Abnormal Body remains, kicking up clouds of ashen seabed silt!
The nuclear-like surge hammered the ocean floor, birthing a spreading dust tempest. Fiery orange glow pierced the inky depths, lighting up myriads of sea worms in the whirlpool. Abruptly, a towering steam plume rocketed up the Chasan Island shoreline, scalding waves hauling blackened Abnormal Body corpses onto the rocks. Back in the base, monitors blazed with blinding white light, visual feeds wiped out completely.
"Check that out!"
Shu Qin, standing behind KIKI, jabbed at the radar display, where scattered red blips now seemed drawn inexorably, swarming toward the screen’s heart. Red dots exploded in number across the radar; faces paled among the watchers, and in under a minute, the display crammed full of endless crimson specks.
Sha Sha eyed the radar swarm then the washed-out monitor glare, brow furrowing, lips parting for comment—when the feed stuttered briefly, flashing a monstrous enormous eye that jolted everyone there.
"Holy crap, what an enormous eye—that’s gotta be a Special Level beast." Lv Chang blurted a curse.
Ryan and Vanessa shared a quick look before crossing their arms, stating: "Just like the previous experimental scenario, as long as it’s activated, the monster will be attracted."
Qian Deli stepped closer, his brow furrowing involuntarily as he asked: "Couldn’t your luring agent be derived from this thing?"
"Sort of." Vanessa gave a nod: "But this thing can’t be used directly; before the Tongshi Device was invented, nuclear radiation and dark energy without specific materials were basically marker bombs."
"No wonder."
KIKI, who was watching the screen right then, drummed her fingers with a hint of relief and announced: "Good news, it is indeed effective, the device’s stability has declined, though little, but at this release rate, we can gain some time."
"Tonight?" Vanessa inquired.
KIKI shrugged: "Tonight we shouldn’t worry about the volcano yet." Her fingers flew across the keyboard, bringing up radar scans of the area surrounding the base; right now, the Island was ringed by a horrifying mass of Abnormal Bodies.
"Let’s think about how to face these first, it’s not dark yet, maybe there are even scarier ones not out yet."
The group staring at the monitoring screen all sucked in a cold breath.
"My god, so many, it’s almost like the siege of Dawn City." Sha Sha’s face turned extremely grim.
