Lin Xian witnessed Ding Junyi's advanced plant-type superpower, manipulating vines into weapons and releasing hallucinogenic scopolamine. They theorized that Abnormal Bodies are engineered flesh-weapons of the Dark Civilization, evolving upstream through intelligent design. Ding Junyi revealed the Blood Vine's unlimited proliferation, hinting at mysteries in the core power of Disaster Plants and Taboo Items.

Originally, Lin Xian planned to talk with Ding Junyi about the geothermal diversion problem and the gamma rays he had faced. But prior to saying anything, a statement from Ding Junyi seized his focus, compelling him to question it right away, his whole presence faintly disturbed.

"Not a three-dimensional existence—what do you mean?"

"Don't get nervous. This is merely a theory I've formed while studying superpower items and dark energy's origins. Truthfully, from a strict scientific perspective, I shouldn't even mention such a hypothesis. After all, you always seem to accept what I say, which flatters me personally, yet this idea remains unverified. Higher-dimensional beings and their powers are completely mysterious to us."

Ding Junyi gazed earnestly at Lin Xian and continued, "You've been viewing the events since Apocalypse Day through the lens of advanced civilizations, so I've daringly directed my research that way too. Right now, beyond mere survival, humanity grapples with one key unsolved mystery: what's the real intent behind the Abnormal Bodies assaulting people and Star Abyss consuming Blue Star?"

Rumble.

Another undersea quake shook the area, causing the tunnel to resonate and the train car to shudder. Lin Xian gripped Ding Junyi’s hand to steady himself. After a full minute, the tremor stopped; this one was stronger than the last, and less than half an hour separated the two events.

"This undersea volcano feels ready to blow any second." Once the shaking eased, Lin Xian let go of Ding Junyi’s hand and stated solemnly.

Ding Junyi scanned the carriage calmly: "For superpower users like us and with heavy gear such as the Infinity, disasters like quakes and tsunamis won't threaten us much. You're concerned about the Abnormal Bodies hunting us, aren't you?"

Lin Xian nodded: "That's precisely why I came to find you..."

He then quickly shared his find of the energy leak spot and his strategy with Ding Junyi. Even with the Abnormal Bodies around, Lin Xian sought Ding Junyi's biologist perspective. Yet, given the intensifying quakes, he sensed time slipping away; stabilizing the leak might need to happen before dusk.

Ding Junyi's eyes sparkled as she heard Lin Xian, nodding approvingly: "If that geothermal core energy converter you described pulls in Abnormal Bodies so strongly, your scheme might succeed... I'm talking about drawing certain groups from Chasan Island. Still, boosting the output to entice the Giant Ocean God off Galan Volcano, then taking out those Abnormal Bodies ahead of time—it sounds..."

"I know." Lin Xian let out a deep sigh, face somber: "It's only a guess. Either way, we have to fix the energy leak; I'm not too optimistic, but monitoring it could reveal something."

Lin Xian massaged his temples. Eyes shut, that cursed countdown lingered in his mind. It was a last-ditch effort, focused mainly on staying alive.

Admiration flickered in Ding Junyi's gaze toward Lin Xian. She valued his unyielding resolve and backup plans, which brought her reassurance amid the apocalypse chaos. That composure let her keep researching in the carriage despite the outer turmoil.

"I have three main worries."

Ding Junyi spoke steadily: "First, what in the geothermal core energy lures Abnormal Bodies so fiercely, summoning hordes of massive ones? Second, why does the Giant Ocean God hunt at all? Third..."

She fixed her eyes on Lin Xian: "How are you certain the Giant Ocean God will depart once its hunt ends?"

Lin Xian's face tightened at her words, as Ding Junyi pinpointed the core issue. True enough, against their dire siege, options dwindled. On this forsaken isle swarming with lethal Abnormal Bodies above and below the waves, a single misstep spelled total doom. The world-class beast's pressure crushed like a stone on his chest, compounded by the odd countdown and other baffling unknowns.

"I’m not sure." Lin Xian sighed: "This draws from the Foundation’s old records. But honestly, nobody knows for real. In this mess, we don't even grasp what 'hunting' means. We're like prey in a viper pit, just striving to avoid the Dark Mark and stay off their radar."

Ding Junyi slipped her hands into her pockets upon hearing this and replied with striking calmness: "Using geothermal core energy to lure and monitor the Giant Ocean God’s hunting patterns—I’m unaware of the Foundation’s core objective, but they wouldn’t run such experiments, construct this enormous base, or install a geothermal diversion mechanism just on speculation. A concrete purpose must exist. Their prolonged observation implies they’re either attaining or advancing toward that purpose. Moreover, the predicament we face now is one they encountered too, yet they evacuated without issue. Doesn’t that prove the procedure is still fairly secure, or at minimum, secure inside this base?"

Lin Xian shook his head: "Triggering Galan Volcano caught them off guard, forcing their evacuation. Safety here is gone. When the volcano erupts, nothing can halt it..."
