The Infinity train lands on stormy Sea Rock Island and enters the submarine base, evading sea monsters' pursuit. Lin Xian deploys Viola to establish drone defenses at Sea Rock Prison and orders human retreat underground, ready to seal passages if overwhelmed. A tremor from the Galan Volcano rocks the base, while surging geothermal heat threatens the core device, turning their refuge into potential bait for Abnormal Bodies.

Lin Xian traversed the train carriage and reached Carriage 3. He didn't spot Ding Junyi upon stepping inside. Rather, he discovered her in Carriage 4, tending to several tomato seedlings. Before he could voice his question, a tiny flower floating over Ding Junyi’s head caught his attention, swaying softly and releasing a subtle superpower radiance.

Lin Xian couldn't hold back his curiosity and drew nearer. In the next instant, his eyes locked on intensely. Countless delicate green vine shoots from melons surged forward, twisting and climbing around the tomato seedlings right in front of Ding Junyi. Guided by her will, the vine ends burst with razor-sharp blood thorns. Like nimble fingers, the vines swiftly mutated and sprawled, blanketing the walls of the cultivation chamber and sealing away every trace of light!

"Has your plant-type superpower advanced this rapidly?" Lin Xian voiced aloud.

"Truthfully, this is only a fraction of its capabilities." Ding Junyi had sensed Lin Xian's approach earlier, clearly appreciating that he held back from disturbing her. Once the vines had fully encircled, they abruptly tightened and decayed, unleashing a flood of pale green energy. She lifted her palm, where a deep green sprout materialized from nowhere, swiftly drawing in all the faint green essence.

Witnessing this display left Lin Xian deeply shocked. Yet in the following moment, Ding Junyi pulled off a surprising action; having soaked up the green energy, she pivoted and exhaled directly at Lin Xian. A refreshing mint-like gust washed over him, blurring his sight, buzzing in his ears, and causing the stunning features of Ding Junyi in front of him to duplicate.

Shaking his head firmly, Lin Xian regained his clarity after a few breaths. Utterly perplexed, he stared at Ding Junyi.

"This..."

"Solanaceae plants generate a substance known as scopolamine, triggering hallucinogenic thrills, cognitive disarray, and twisted perceptions of time and space. It served as an anesthetic in the past, though excess doses could induce coma or fatality."

Ding Junyi gazed steadily at Lin Xian: "Lately, I’ve delved into the evolution patterns of Abnormal Bodies. That biological force field feels less like a superpower and more like a hardcoded evolutionary sequence in their DNA. They appear to own it from birth, yet ordinary Abnormal Bodies, as we recognize, function more as manufactured living instruments than genuine organisms."

Lin Xian creased his brow faintly: "Do they link somehow?"

Ding Junyi pressed on, "Doesn’t it puzzle you why, back in Xilan City, just that single S-Class wielded such a biological force field, yet today even basic Abnormal Bodies possess it? What sparked these new capabilities in them?"

"I figured the monsters were simply evolving," Lin Xian replied.

Ding Junyi shook her head: "Dark Creatures do evolve and adapt, as we've observed, but a key misunderstanding persists. Consider how only Snow Demons and Snow Magics thrive under snow layers, while Split-tailed People and Red Bones prowl Sea Rock Island under sunlight. Still, Fog Spiders avoid daylight, and Earthworms steer clear of snow. See my point?"

Lin Xian furrowed his brows, sinking into profound reflection from Ding Junyi’s explanation, briefly overlooking his original purpose in finding her.

Noting his silence, Ding Junyi stated plainly, "My hypothesis: this evolution stems from the source, not the outcome. In other words, the smart entities crafting Abnormal Bodies—or elite figures from the Dark Civilization—keep learning, advancing, refining, and through targeted DNA programming, granting fresh Abnormal Bodies these evolutionary traits. Standard Abnormal Bodies lack any innate such systems."

Lin Xian stood dumbfounded: "Now I see. So it ties into what you brought up..."

"Scopolamine."

"Exactly."

"I mean to say, the Dark Civilization could differ wildly from our expectations. The Abnormal Bodies around us might actually be tools constructed from humanity's and Blue Star's carbon-based life, much like our mechs and drones—fleshly instruments for warfare and conquest. Under this lens, even A-level or S-Class ones fit, since any bearer of such sophisticated civilization tech ought to resemble intelligent life, not some Cthulhu-esque monstrosity."

"Furthermore, armed with this perspective, I'm harnessing my biology expertise to probe gene potentials within Blue Star’s ecosystems, vastly amplifying my plant-type superpower development. Naturally... the core idea takes precedence. I bring up the second just to highlight my massive power boost. Should danger strike, I can now help dominate the battlefield and back you up effectively."

After taking in all this information, Lin Xian felt profoundly moved. He'd pondered a similar theory in the past, and the Phoenix Society had speculated along those lines long ago, yet Ding Junyi's analogy linking Abnormal Bodies to mecha gear hit him hard.

Ding Junyi's second insight surprised him greatly too. Could plant-type superpowers really function like that?

"Releasing plant traits to control enemies through induced comas?"

"That and more. If you want to delve deeper, I can start from taxonomy classification," Ding Junyi offered.

"No need," Lin Xian replied, already sweating over how endless such a lecture might become. Still, he grasped that Ding Junyi had uncovered various properties during her plant superpower development.

With hands tucked in her pockets, Ding Junyi watched Lin Xian steadily: "I essentially seek your acknowledgment of my recent work."

"I very much acknowledge it!"

"Thank you." Ding Junyi smiled faintly.

Lin Xian felt a bit awkward: "Teacher Chen told me you mentioned a change in the Blood Vine, is that correct?"

Ding Junyi nodded: "Through superpower contact, I discovered distinct differences in this Disaster Plant compared to others. It might be related to its traits, as this Blood Vine exhibits an almost unlimited proliferation capacity."

Lin Xian looked confused: "Unlimited proliferation, what’s the use of that?"

"Strictly speaking," Ding Junyi said, her face remaining calm, "it’s of no practical use."

Lin Xian: ...

Ding Junyi then guided Lin Xian to Carriage 3, where she opened the cultivation chamber holding the Blood Vine. This chamber exceeded the size of those for the Silver Dragon Ten Thousand Mistakes and the Hell Black Chrysanthemum, specially configured by Ding Junyi.

Inside the chamber, the Blood Vine bristled with vivid red spiked tips, giving off a glow unlike typical plants—more akin to the metallic luster of the Cold Blade. Oddly, once Ding Junyi removed the shading, the Blood Vine started twitching faintly, like a creature full of life.

This sight differed sharply from when Lin Xian first retrieved it from White City, and he instantly saw what Chen Sixuan meant by calling it truly alive. It carried an eerie vibe.

Noticing Lin Xian’s reaction, Ding Junyi stepped closer and placed her hand on the cultivation chamber, explaining

"Unlimited proliferation refers to this plant’s ability to surpass the limits of plant cells, continuing to expand and grow indefinitely. I’ve conducted multiple rounds of division experiments and found this plant is truly limitless."

Even before her words ended, as her finger met the chamber, the Blood Vine rapidly extended along the wall toward her touch, then surged outward under Ding Junyi’s command. It thickened from finger-width to bowl-mouth size, thorns sharpening ever deeper. While the Blood Vine expanded, Lin Xian spotted subtle arcs of force field energy flickering across it!

Lin Xian couldn’t wrap his head around it: "Are you saying this thing could grow larger than a skyscraper?"

Ding Junyi nodded: "Yes."

"And it’s still useless?" Lin Xian shot back right away, "If this thing is edible, couldn’t we have unlimited starch?"

Ding Junyi paused in surprise, then answered, "Well, the characteristic I regard as useful is the ability to impact the battlefield like Silver Dragon Ten Thousand Mistakes."

"That’s easy," Lin Xian proposed straightforwardly, eyeing Ding Junyi: "Just use the Blood Vine as your weapon, keep researching it, and help me change the tide!"

Hearing this, Ding Junyi raised her gaze toward Lin Xian slightly. After a brief moment of thought, she pulled back her hand and, with a serious look, regarded Lin Xian: "That’s a good idea. I’ll seriously consider it."

Lin Xian let out a breath, sensing this as positive news. He was ready to share his plans with Ding Junyi when she abruptly added

"Actually, the unlimited proliferation of the Blood Vine led me to a new discovery. It’s that the limitless growth of this Disaster Plant isn’t based on plants or genetics but from another perspective, making me hypothesize a whole new question regarding the core power source of all Disaster Plants and Taboo Items..."

Lin Xian felt his head spinning.
