Esdeath and Blayn spend the night together. The next morning, Esdeath begins experiencing persistent nausea, growing increasingly irritable. She becomes upset when she sees Blayn happily chatting with Kurome. Blayn notices Esdeath's strange behavior and follows her. After some probing, Esdeath confides in him about feeling unwell, leading Blayn to hesitantly ask if she might be pregnant.

“You don't say?”

Esdeath displayed surprise.

This was an unforeseen circumstance; she had never considered such a possibility, primarily because the concept of “morning sickness” was entirely foreign to her. However, with the cause now understood, that peculiar unease began to dissipate significantly.

“So, what’s the plan now? Do I simply await the birth?”

She sought guidance from Blayn.

“Precisely. Your focus should be on nurturing the child within. I will attend to you.”

Blayn offered reassurance, his demeanor earnest. “Though you are an unmatched General, during this delicate time, I truly wish for you to lean on me a bit more.”

“Hmm… being cared for, you say…”

A gentle nod came from Esdeath.

Her affection for Blayn was already profound, leaving her with no inclination to refuse his attentiveness. Instead, she contentedly linked her arm with his, a subtle blush gracing her cheeks.

...

As a General, Esdeath was accustomed to having numerous attendants at her disposal.

Nevertheless, even throughout her pregnancy, she exclusively permitted Blayn access to her chambers.

Given her formidable strength, she never truly required assistance from others, and a mere pregnancy presented no substantial threat. Had such a thing posed a risk, she would have surely succumbed long ago during her harsh childhood battles against Danger Beasts in the wilderness.

Allowing Blayn to care for her was, in essence, a cherished indulgence.

Several months elapsed.

With Esdeath’s abdomen visibly swelling, she became acutely aware of the developing life within. To be more precise, she sensed the presence of twins.

Her constitution was inherently resilient, and coupled with her extraordinary capabilities, delivering twins was well within her capacity.

When Blayn finally cradled the two infants, Esdeath swiftly utilized her ice abilities to seal her own wounds.

Being immune to her own power, this method proved exceptionally effective.

Her body soon returned to its pre-birth state.

Seated beside the bed, she rested her head against Blayn’s shoulder, her gaze fixed upon the two minuscule, adorable newborns.

“They are both girls… twins, and moreover…”

A tone of surprise entered Blayn’s voice. “It appears they have inherited your Teigu.”

“Indeed?”

Esdeath shared in the astonishment.

“Observe the mark upon their chests. It is identical to yours.”

Blayn indicated the distinctive markings.

The elder twin bore a resemblance to Blayn with her dark hair, while the younger sister mirrored Esdeath's signature ice-blue locks. Both possessed the same emblem on their chests—the distinctive symbol of the Teigu.

“This is quite astonishing… A Teigu is meant to have only one true wielder.”

Esdeath mused, her thoughts in rapid motion.

“Perhaps it’s attributable to being a unique blood-based Teigu. Given that you consumed an entire cache of it previously, it likely altered your very bloodline without your conscious awareness. Traits inherited through bloodlines can be passed on, though they typically diminish across generations.”

Blayn offered his reasoned hypothesis.

“That explanation aligns perfectly… However, this outcome is beneficial. I would not wish for my daughters to be frail.”

Esdeath's declaration sounded stern, yet the profound love evident in her gaze as she observed her children was undeniable.

The brutal demise of her father and clan had ingrained in her the principle that strength dictated the world's order. Yet, given the opportunity then, she would have sacrificed anything to ensure their protection.
