Esdeath witnesses Bols with his wife and daughter, leading her to believe that having a child is the key to marriage. She later approaches Blayn, directly stating her desire for a child with him.

“A child? Wait, do you truly comprehend the implications of that statement?”

Blayn remained somewhat taken aback. He hadn't anticipated Esdeath, of all individuals, proposing such a matter so abruptly.

“Of course, I do. I am aware of both the process and the potential consequences.”

Esdeath offered a subtle smile, as though this were merely another commonplace decision for her.

“Very well, if you have indeed considered it thoroughly, then I have no objections.”

Blayn’s expression turned grave.

“So, come now. Kiss me.”

Esdeath was as direct as ever, dispensing with pleasantries.

Blayn, unwilling to appear hesitant, took the initiative and kissed her.

Before long, with Blayn lending a half-push and Esdeath a half-pull, the two of them found themselves collapsing onto the bed.

...

The night vanished.

Despite their exertions, Blayn’s robust constitution ensured he was unaffected. He was merely feeling a touch drowsy—understandably, as he hadn't slept at all.

Eventually, he and Esdeath succumbed to slumber in each other's embrace.

...

Not long thereafter, Esdeath began to experience intermittent bouts of nausea.

She was unfamiliar with this peculiar bodily reaction and found it rather odd that her system was behaving in this manner—especially considering she hadn’t fallen ill in ages...

However, she dismissed it without much concern, opting not to disclose it to Blayn immediately.

It wasn't until the nausea intensified and her disposition darkened further that she finally contemplated broaching the subject with him.

But upon entering the living room, she discovered Blayn seated with Kurome, sharing desserts and engaging in conversation, appearing quite content.

Her already foul mood deteriorated further.

Although Esdeath remained silent, Blayn sensed a dramatic plunge in the room's temperature. He turned his head and, as anticipated, saw Esdeath standing there.

“Esdeath, is everything alright?”

Blayn inquired without delay.

“...It’s nothing.”

Her voice was frigid as she turned and departed. She needed to compose herself, away from him.

She was uncertain of the cause of her peculiar state but felt an undeniable urge to regain her composure in solitude.

Nevertheless, Blayn had already perceived that something was amiss with her, and he had no intention of simply overlooking it.

“My apologies, Kurome, I must leave you now.”

“Understood...”

Kurome seemed unfazed, continuing to enjoy the snacks Blayn had procured for her with an impassive expression.

Blayn swiftly followed after Esdeath.

“Esdeath, you’re behaving unusually today. What is troubling you?”

He called out as he managed to catch up to her.

“...”

Esdeath wished to avoid responding, but seeing that she couldn’t elude him, she turned and fixed him with an icy glare.

“Weren’t you just thoroughly enjoying yourself conversing with that young girl, Kurome? Why don’t you return and keep her company?”

“...You are most certainly acting peculiar today. If something is wrong, please just tell me.”

Blayn offered a slightly strained smile. Typically, Esdeath would not address him in this manner.

If she were displeased about something, she would normally be direct and assertive—plainly instructing him not to engage too closely with Kurome. Yet today, an unfamiliar undertone of dissatisfaction colored her words, almost as if she were feeling dejected.

“...Yes, I must admit I do feel somewhat unwell today.”

Esdeath paused for a moment of silence before confessing.

She couldn’t pinpoint the reason for her unusual behavior—perhaps it was the persistent nausea, though it didn't quite feel like standard sickness.

Finally, she resolved to cease her evasiveness and conveyed the precise situation to Blayn.

Even Blayn required a brief period to absorb her words. After all, this was not a subject upon which he possessed extensive knowledge.

Once the realization finally dawned on him, he hesitated momentarily before articulating, “Esdeath... Is it perhaps possible that you are already with child?”
