Ji Fei's heart shattered upon learning the trauma Qin Xian had endured, fueling her rage against those who had wronged him. As she raced to confront Lü Meihe, she discovered Qin Xian in a vulnerable state, diminished by memories of his past abuse. In a frenzied confrontation, Lü Meihe threatened them with gasoline and a lighter, revealing her twisted obsession. Just as tensions peaked, Qin Xian, awakening from his despair, positioned himself to protect Ji Fei. With danger escalating, they prepared for a desperate escape, jumping from the attic window as flames engulfed their surroundings.

Ji Fei’s recollection returned.

A flood of memories surged through her—images spanning two entire lifetimes. She recalled her affectionate parents and how she was once the doted-upon little princess of the Ji household. She had actually encountered Qin Xian long ago during their childhood, but because she was so young back then, the memory had faded over the years.

Her life had been filled with joy until a tragic car accident at age fifteen claimed her parents and left her alone in the world.

Having nearly perished that day, she experienced her first encounter with the underworld messengers. As she watched her parents being led away, she desperately tried to call out to them, but the messengers commanded her to return to the living.

Suddenly, a high-ranking official appeared. Holding a brush and a thick ledger, he muttered while making a notation: "You are fortunate. Your destiny was fixed from the start. You are fated to wed a man possessed of overwhelming fortune. By assisting him and his associates, their power will reshape the world. For this reason, you are permitted to return."

"But what will happen to my parents?" she asked.

"They have committed serious sins," the official replied. "In their next incarnation, they must endure great suffering to pay for their transgressions."

"That cannot be! My parents were virtuous people, they—"

"Indeed, they were good. However, regarding this accident—your father drove while intoxicated, and your mother urged him to ignore a red light. Are you aware of how many lives were lost in that pile-up? How many families were destroyed? Had it not been for their lifetime of charity, their karmic debt would have required three lives to settle. A single lifetime of hardship is a mercy."

"I am so sorry… it is all because of me. I was the one who fell ill and went into shock. That is why they were rushing—please, let the punishment fall on me instead of them."

"There is… one method to save them," the official sighed.

"In a different world, there is a couple who have earned immense merit. Having lost their daughter too early, they wish to trade her destiny. If you relinquish your identity to her and take her place in that world—enduring a life of solitude without parents—you can cancel your parents' debt. They will then be reborn into a normal, peaceful family."

Ji Fei did not hesitate. Accepting the terms immediately, she signed the contract. This was the reason she had spent her life believing she was an orphan.

Furthermore, her current life was never meant to conclude so abruptly. However, the exchange of fates had caused a rift in the world’s order.

To put it simply, Qin Xian—the one meant to inherit the great fate—did not fall for the substitute. Knowing she was destined for him, the substitute tried everything to win his heart, but her desperation only earned his disgust. Additionally, her role as his wife negatively impacted the destinies of those around her.

Gradually, the purpose Ji Fei was meant to serve failed to happen. She neither aided Qin Xian nor corrected the life paths of others. The deviation grew so severe that the higher powers panicked and recalled the genuine Ji Fei. The "gossip system" and her "mind-reading ability" were merely instruments provided by the underworld to help her realign the world’s path quickly.

Now, the timeline had finally reached stability.

Her system and mind-reading powers faded away, exhausting their remaining energy to safeguard two things precious to her.

Silence filled the hospital room. A light breeze drifted through the open window, tugging at the curtains and brushing against Ji Fei’s face. The man who always watched her with such focused intensity felt a sudden wave of hope.

However, the moment passed. Her eyes remained closed, and his heart tightened with sorrow.

"Feifei… when will you come back to me? I…"

The door clicked open.

Qin Dad, Qin Mom, Qin Yan, Qin Chao, and Qin Rong walked in carrying various bags. They paused when they saw Qin Xian, who refused to leave his post by the bed.

A month had passed since the fall from the building. Although the safety cushion had prevented physical injuries or burns, Ji Fei had remained in a mysterious coma ever since.

Qin Xian had cast everything aside to stay by her side every hour of the day.

"Brother, you should eat something. Let us take over for a while," Qin Rong suggested, stepping forward.

As Qin Yan set out the food and Qin Chao shut the window to keep out the draft, Qin Mom guided Qin Dad to a chair. They spoke in hushed tones, hoping Ji Fei might hear them.

"We just got word," Qin Mom whispered. "Lü Meihe has passed away. Her grandmother was so broken that she took the traumatized Yu Lu and went away. Your grandfather didn’t stop them; he only offered an apology. Yu Hongxian is behind bars now, and many people are looking for revenge against him."

Qin Xian remained unresponsive.

On the day of the jump, Lü Meihe had chased them in a fit of rage, only to run directly into the fire. She suffered horrific burns and lingered in pain for a month before finally dying.

As for Yu Hongxian, Qin Xian had been investigating his illegal hypnosis practices for some time. Once the situation collapsed, the evidence was handed to the police. Interestingly, Yu Hongxian had used his connections to keep Lü Meihe alive as long as possible. Whether he wanted her to live or simply suffer through the pain was unknown, as he forced her to endure every agonizing second.

It was finally finished.

Qin Xian gently took Ji Fei’s hand and rested his chin against it.

Suddenly—

"That tickles~"

The room went deathly quiet.

Qin Xian froze in place. He looked down and saw her long-still eyelashes fluttering. Then, Ji Fei opened her eyes.

"Your stubble is poking my hand. It tickles."

Everyone stood frozen in shock.

"Feifei!" "Sister-in-law!"

The room erupted with voices.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Qin Xian found himself unable to speak as tears pooled in his eyes. He felt her fingers move within his palm.

He leaned in close. Though her voice was weak, she spoke with a playful smile.

"I remember everything now. You are my Qin Second Brother. You promised you would marry me. Did I sleep too long? Can we still have our wedding?"

Caught between laughter and tears, Qin Xian leaned down to kiss her.

"Feifei, thank you for returning. Promise me you will never go away again."

"Go shave that beard first. I prefer my men handsome," Ji Fei joked.

Laughter broke out among the family members. Ji Fei looked around at each of them.

"Mom, Dad, Big Sister, Qin Chao, Qin Rong—thank you all."

She felt a deep sense of gratitude toward this family for giving her a true home.

"You silly girl!" Qin Mom cried, grabbing her other hand.

Qin Dad’s voice cracked. "I am so sorry. This was my fault."

"It was never your fault, Dad. Don't ever think that," Ji Fei reassured him with a smile.

She turned back to Qin Xian, finding comfort in his steady gaze. "Wait… something good happened, didn't it? Actually, two things."

The family looked confused.

Ji Fei tilted her head. "No? My system mentioned it before it disappeared."

They looked at each other, puzzled. Then, Qin Xian’s face turned a shade of red.

He leaned toward her ear and whispered, "The wedding might have to wait just a bit. You need to recover before you can leave."

"Why? I feel fine, just hungry."

"Well… you are pregnant."

Ji Fei was stunned. "What?"

"You are expecting… twins."

"AHHHHHHHH!" Ji Fei screamed. "How is this possible?! I haven’t even started enjoying my new life yet! I haven't had enough time alone with my husband! This is your fault! You… you BASTARD!"

Qin Xian accepted the scolding in silence, knowing he was the culprit. He simply wanted her by his side forever.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Qin family couldn't stop smiling.

One month later, Ji Fei was finally discharged from the hospital.

The wedding plans were revived, the dress was tailored, and the venue was set once more. Under a beautiful sun, Qin Xian finally wed the little princess he had made a promise to so many years ago.

Ji Fei never imagined that the man she would marry was that same quiet, handsome boy from her past.

They were destined for a lifetime of joy. And may happiness find its way to everyone else as well.
