Garrett confronts Tetra, one of the Seven Snake Women, demanding to know the whereabouts of Lynn. Aided by Lynn's magical pet, Mr. Troka, Garrett insists Lynn is in danger within the Eagle God's Kingdom. Tetra denies knowledge but eventually uses a magical oracle. The oracle reveals Lynn is indeed in the kingdom and in trouble, prompting Garrett to demand further proof of Lynn's safety and a guarantee of his unharmed return after Garrett completes his task.

"This is impossible!"

Tetra instinctively refuted. The priestess leaned forward, her pupils narrowing into two vertical lines, her hair flying. The ends of her hair, countless strands, shimmered with phosphorescence, hissing continuously:

"Our god will never come forward to make a pact with mortals! At most, we can guarantee that if you create that—vaccine—we will release the person! To have our god personally guarantee it, you are blaspheming!"

Garrett's eyebrows shot up. Blasphemy, blasphemy against what god? Your Eagle God and Serpent God are at best demigods; my teacher has killed them before! Talking about blasphemy in front of me, are you still asleep?

Before he could retort, Mr. Traka had already leapt up. The black cat, heavily injured and still unable to change forms freely, swiped its front paws, leaving horizontal and vertical scratches on the ground ahead, resembling a chessboard:

"Meow! No way! Meow! The master was just fine with you, not hitting anyone, not killing anyone, not stealing anything, meow! Just standing by the roadside looking around, and you captured him, meow! And now you won't release him, meow meow meow meow meow!"

Garrett had to pounce forward, hugging it tightly to prevent Mr. Traka from scratching the priestess's face. Calm down! Calm down! Look at those snakes at the ends of her hair, don't let them bite you to death!

Mr. Traka wasn't the only one agitated. In the mind link, Cirilla was already shouting angrily:

"Why! Why is it enough to just guarantee Lynn's safety! Let them release him! Release him! You help them create a vaccine, help them resist the plague, and now you owe them?"

In the mind link, regardless of the volume, the impact of emotions was extremely strong. Garrett's head was about to explode:

"Cirilla! Quiet! Lynn is still in their hands! Without the strength to storm Eagle God’s City and rescue him by force, we have to cooperate with them for now! Otherwise, if the Radiant Church and the Plague Maiden attack, Lynn will be in danger too!"

The Plague Maiden could drive more than one type of infectious disease! As for the Radiant Church, seeing a necromancer, would they let him go?

Cirilla was still fuming. She understood the logic, and she couldn't really say, "Let them kill Lynn, and we'll take revenge later." Storming Eagle God’s City was also beyond her reach—

Those Golden Eagle warriors, she could easily take one, handle two with confidence, but six would be troublesome. If twelve attacked at once, Cirilla figured she could at most escape unscathed.

And adding the Eagle God, who empowered these Golden Eagle warriors?

And the Serpent God, whose power was similar to the Eagle God?

In that case, even with Garrett and the other two, the most important being Garrett's Ancient Vine Bird and Lightning Cat, they could probably just escape at best...

"It doesn't matter if we can't fight!" She huffed angrily, continuing to shout in the mind link:

"I'll go call my parents! Or, if you won't, write a letter to your teacher! Or call the Immortal! If he won't come, there must be someone willing in Black Crow Swamp! I'll deliver the letter for you! I promise to deliver it within half a month!"

Garrett pondered for a moment. Indeed, with the Plague Maiden here, there were local bases and support, and the plague branch might be willing to send people...

If a few level 18 or 19 big shots came, they could dismantle that Plague Maiden!

But distant water can't quench present thirst. When they came, they had to sail for a month and a half due to many unknown dangers in the sky—powerful flying magical beasts, sea monsters, and various abnormal weather phenomena, all posing threats.

Unless one is a legend, it's nearly impossible to fly safely across the ocean without any damage. Sending Cirilla, he felt uneasy.

Sigh, maybe intimidation is also good. Garrett thought, responding in the mind link:

"Cirilla, shout these words out, scare them. Just scare them! Don't mention your parents! After the scare, I'll talk again!"

"Okay!" Cirilla jumped up. Hands on her hips, she pointed at Tetra's nose and fired off a string of words. After finishing, she huffed and waved her hand:

"Garrett, release the Ancient Vine Bird! Let's go!"

With two swift movements, Baronsimo and Bernard stood up simultaneously behind her. Backpacks on shoulders, weapons in hand. The Ancient Vine Bird unfolded on the spot, transforming into a giant bird taller than a person. They entered one by one.

Garrett was the last to go. Standing under the bird's wing, just one step away from the bird's belly cabin door, he turned back with a stern face:

"Go! Call reinforcements!—Listen, we know Lynn is with you, and we know he is safe now. If he gets even slightly hurt, I'll bring the Thunder God, Death God, and their servants to overthrow your Eagle God’s Kingdom!"

"Wait!" The priestess broke into a cold sweat, cursing herself for her quick mouth, always needing to retort. Guaranteeing in the name of the nation or god, isn't it up to Tlatoani and Chivacoatl to decide?

She was just a messenger, conveying messages verbatim. Why negotiate?

"Please don't do that! Lord Lynn, he is indeed injured and can't be moved! You know, anyone captured will be—I'll relay your demands immediately! Please wait!"

She hurriedly raised her hand to pull a hair to start praying. This trip was really deadly, a huge loss...

Each hair used for rapid long-distance communication was prayed and condensed by the Snake Woman day and night. Each hair used was one less. If she pulled another, she would have fewer than ten left!

"Wait!" Garrett raised his hand to stop her. His face darkened, he slowly rose, looking down at the Snake Woman:

"Since Lynn can't be transferred temporarily, I need enough valuable people by my side as hostages! One Snake Woman and two Golden Eagle warriors, at least that number, no less! If Lynn doesn't return safely, these hostages won't go back!"

As he spoke, Cirilla jumped out of the bird's belly, unstrapped her longbow, and stepped forward; a silver-white kitten silently jumped to the ground, taking two steps forward. It sat down, raised its right paw, and licked it twice with narrowed eyes.

Tetra's face changed. These three, along with herself and the two Golden Eagle warriors, could definitely achieve the task of leaving them all behind!

She came to deliver a message, whom did she provoke? Nierka hid the person privately, why should she pay the price?

Garrett looked down at her changing expression and slowly said:

"Of course, this person doesn't have to be you. Ideally, it should be the ones directly responsible for Lynn's situation, to come as hostages."

Tetra lowered her head slightly, her face changing colors. Finally, she submissively raised her face and smiled slightly:

"Please wait. I will convey your demands immediately."

She plucked a snake hair, prayed, and spat blood. The message was transmitted again, sparking another fierce debate in the Serpent God's temple.

"Do we have to believe whatever he says? Just because he says he'll call the Thunder God and Death God, does it mean he can?"

"But he is indeed the son of the Thunder God. That day, Tetra and the two Golden Eagle warriors saw it with their own eyes, and that Lightning Spirit wasn't fake." Another Snake Woman spoke softly:

"The key issue now is whether that necromancer is more useful to us held here, or if releasing him and getting the Plague Lord's help to resist the plague is better?"

"But if we release him and the Plague Lord just leaves?" Another Snake Woman beside Nierka argued softly. She was greatly taken care of by Nierka, almost dependent on her, and couldn't help speaking for her:

"Even if he wants to stay now, what if Lynn says something that makes him unwilling to help us?"

"Then you should ask your sister Nierka what she did to that necromancer before." The previous Snake Woman smiled lightly, continuing softly:

"She captured him, visited him frequently, and hid him from others. It was her suggestion to remove him from the list and not send him away..."

"Was my suggestion unreasonable?" Nierka raised her brows: "If we didn't hold him, what if the Plague Lord left? Would you handle the plague?"

"Sister Nierka's suggestion was certainly reasonable." The Snake Woman opposite her continued to smile lightly:

"Now that they want to leave, we must either hand over the person or hostages—if you don't want to hand over the person, Sister Nierka, you go be the hostage yourself!"
