A Hospital in Another World? Chapter 1069: You're Strong, but Nature Is on My Side
Previously on A Hospital in Another World?...
As sunlight pierced through the treetops, Adrian Lopez rose with his sword in hand.
He had slept soundly, and following the teachings, he had prayed to the Radiant Lord at dawn. Now, fully restored in energy, strength, and divine powers, he was ready for an intense battle—
So where was the enemy?
Adrian Lopez soared into the air, scanning his surroundings.
East, south, west, north—whichever direction he looked, all he could see was an endless sea of forest.
Green, dark green, light green, deep green—rolling and swaying with the wind. Some areas were dense, others sparse, but the one thing they had in common was...
There was no movement.
There were no sounds of people moving, running, or fighting, no beasts roaring or hunting, not even the faintest chirping of birds.
The entire jungle, as if lifeless, lay in a silent slumber beneath his feet.
Adrian Lopez's expression remained unchanged. The jungle might not be his home turf, but sunlight reached everywhere, and the Radiant Lord’s divine light overlooked the world. As an 18th-level Sky Knight, all he had to do was pray, and he would soon receive a response—
"O Lord, Your light shines upon all things, and You are all-knowing in this world," he knelt in the air, holding his sword, and prayed devoutly:
"Please guide Your faithful servant, direct my sword to its target—"
The sunlight rippled gently, as if in response to his prayer. Adrian Lopez slowly descended, kneeling on a treetop, holding his breath and focusing:
In the lake of his mind, a brilliant light spread out from him in all directions.
Under the sunlight, everything lost its physical form, turning into points of light. Some were dim like incense, some flickered like candle flames, and occasionally, a few glowed like embers on the verge of extinguishing—
"Not this one."
"Not this one."
"This one isn't it either."
In his meditation, Adrian continuously received these messages, dismissing clue after clue. The faint lights like incense or candle flames were at most first or second level; the ember-like lights, barely fifth level at best—
And these lights remained stationary. Clearly, they were plants of power, not even a single magical beast among them.
The enemy who had robbed the caravan had to be at least fifteen or sixteen levels strong. Under this divine illumination, their light would be blindingly bright; it was impossible for them to be among these.
Had they fled far away?
Or were they hiding, unwilling to show themselves?
Adrian thought carefully, then shook his head, dismissing the idea that the enemy had escaped.
If they had just been after treasure, a day and a night would have been enough for a 16th-level expert to flee hundreds of miles. But an elf who would stand up against a high-level knight for the sake of the natives—would they flee?
Even if they did flee, they would have made sure to arrange everything for the nearby natives before leaving! Just like the soldiers had said, they even took the slaves with them, using that strange giant bird...
So, this person, or rather this group, must still be nearby. His task was to find them. Find them, then eliminate them!
He moved to another spot and prayed again! The detection radius of this divine spell was 20 miles, so with fifteen prayers, he could cover the entire length of the post road!
Go!
His sword trembled, a burst of pure white light shot from its tip, lifting him forward. The powerful sound of his flight, carrying the pressure of a high-level Sky Knight, swept over the treetops, slicing through the air and branches.
Leaves shattered, twigs scattered, and the green sea of forest was plowed open by his sword wind, leaving a deep scar. Wild beasts fled in panic, birds buried their heads under their wings, centipedes, venomous snakes, and ants scattered in all directions.
In the distance, Garrett and his companions huddled under a tree, instinctively holding their breath. Bernard and Apa were crouched together under a large, lush tree, a single cloak covering both of them.
On top of the cloak, grass blades swayed—Garrett had scattered some seeds on it and quickly accelerated their growth. Even if someone looked down from the treetop, or from twenty meters away on the ground, all they would see was a patch of grass.
The Hawthorn couple were similarly camouflaged, though Mrs. Jasmine had taken care of growing the grass seeds. Aishe Moon Song and Sisoyin had each transformed, lying in the grass, their forms and magical auras indistinguishable from ordinary wild animals.
Only Garrett and Cirilla were without camouflage. The two sat together, leaning against the tree trunk. A natural branch drooped down, its dense leaves completely hiding them from view.
The rumble of the sword's sound drew closer, then gradually receded into the distance, disappearing altogether. Only when the sound had faded did Bernard finally dare to exhale:
"He's so strong!"
"Yes, very strong. —Stronger than me," Aishe Moon Song nodded solemnly. Cirilla glanced at her sharply but remained silent.
According to the council's evaluation standards, Aishe Moon Song was roughly a 16th-level veteran warrior. Plus, with shapeshifting, nature spells, and natural affinity, she could gain some advantages in jungle terrain;
As for herself, Cirilla was estimated to be between levels 16 and 17 according to the council. Of course, given her dragon heritage—her size, defense, and abundant magic—it would take five or six opponents of similar levels to challenge her on even ground...
If she had more combat experience, that is. The problem was, Miss Cirilla had very little battle experience; apart from the little she knew from her dragon heritage, she had almost never fought.
"So, this enemy is at level 17 or 18," Garrett's face was grim. During the time the sword's sound had passed over, he had been comparing it with the memories in his mind—
Whether before they set out or in the Eagle God's Kingdom, he had watched many battles between high-level fighters. He might not remember everything, but he stuffed it all into his meditation core, ready to retrieve and compare as needed.
Now it seemed that this enemy’s speed and the force of their strikes suggested they were at level 17 or 18. A formidable foe!
At levels 17 to 18, a Sky Knight of the Radiant Church would be on the path to becoming a legend—or rather, their entire being would start to sanctify. Moreover, due to their faith, their energy would become even more pure:
In practical terms, this meant they would wield divine spells with greater ease, and divine healing would be more effective on them. Even what would be considered a vital spot to ordinary people might not immediately kill them if wounded.
"It's a tough fight... best not to fight... best to sneak past..."
He muttered, tightening his grip on Cirilla's hand. If an 18th-level Sky Knight attacked with full force, Cirilla might hold her own, but she would certainly be injured;
Aishe Moon Song might be able to escape in the jungle, but winning? Not a chance;
Everyone else would be no match at all. Only if he activated the Ancient Vine Bird and fled with all his might, using the teacher’s last resort, could they possibly escape alive. Fight?
Why fight?
As the sound of the sword faded into the distance, the group slowly stood up and began to creep forward. Step by careful step, they had gone four or five miles when the wild sound of the sword tore through the forest again.
"He’s searching far away... not in our direction... we can sneak past..."
Garrett held Cirilla's hand tightly, whispering reassurance. The sound of the sword's flight came and went, growing fainter and fainter, as it moved farther and farther away.
By the time the sun had passed its zenith, the sound had already moved a hundred miles away, and they had just begun to relax when a thunderous roar erupted, growing louder:
"That elf! Come out!"
In the Sky Knight’s furious shout, Garrett and his group looked up to see a middle-aged knight standing high in the sky, clad in heavy silver-gray armor that gleamed so brightly in the sunlight it was almost blinding.
"That armor looks so expensive..."
The silver dragon girl whispered. The armor was etched with intricate defensive runes and adorned with golden floral decorations, the emblem of the Radiant Church prominently displayed on the chest, shining brilliantly.
But Garrett strongly suspected that what had caught Cirilla’s attention was the massive gemstone in the center of the chest plate... Just how big was that thing? It was visible from so far away—could it be as big as the Light Mountain?
Or as large as the Hope Blue Diamond, or maybe the Heart of the Ocean?
Garrett grumbled silently as he watched the Sky Knight give a flick of his hand, and dozens of severed heads rained down like raindrops. The knight then raised his sword and slashed downward with great force. A white arc of light shot from the blade, expanding—one yard, two yards, three yards...
The light arc plunged into the forest. In the distance, there was a crackling sound followed by a thunderous boom. Aishe Moon Song and Sisoyin’s faces changed simultaneously:
"He’s cutting down the trees!"
"He’s cutting down the ancient trees! Kurad, Logan, Bana..."
Sisoyin, clearly more familiar with the forest, called out the names of the ancient trees one by one, his eyes filled with fear and anger:
"He’s cutting down the oldest and strongest trees... They were all my
friends, the ones who could become treants in the future..."
"That elf! Come out!" the Sky Knight shouted again from above. His voice rolled through the forest like thunder:
"Come out and die, and hand over the treasure you stole! If you don’t, I’ll kill every native here, every magical beast, cut down this entire forest, and chop down all the ancient trees! I mean what I say!"
Before the words had even faded, a piercing cry echoed across the sky. A giant bird with pure black feathers shot up into the air, charging straight at the Sky Knight. After just two rounds of combat, a light blade slashed out, and a rain of blood and feathers fell from the sky.
"You—"
Sisoyin clenched his fists tightly. He took a step forward, then hesitated, glancing at his companions before stopping in his tracks. Garrett grabbed him:
"Don't go! Not like this!—If we’re going to take him down, we need a good plan, a good location!"
He tightened his grip, pulling the elf down into a crouch. With a wave of his hand, he cleared a patch of fallen leaves on the ground, revealing the soft earth beneath:
"Come on, let’s draw a map of the terrain. Then we’ll see where we can limit his abilities—the most important thing is finding a spot where Moon Song and Cirilla, and I, can fully unleash our power."
"If we can’t find one, we’ll just move farther away, look for allies—Don’t worry, he’s strong, but nature is on our side!"
