A Hospital in Another World? Chapter 1046: No One—Is Allowed—To Rob—Garrett!
Previously on A Hospital in Another World?...
The bigger your heart, the bigger your dreams.
When it comes to the materialization of the meditative world, perhaps it should be seen as the broader your knowledge, the richer your world. If you haven't seen the snow-capped mountains on the arid plateau, you wouldn't know that once a peak reaches a certain height, it will be covered with snow all year round;
If you haven't seen the towering tower on the mountain top, you wouldn't know that human wisdom and strength can draw down thunder, blizzards, and gales for their use, and can sustain a shield that covers the mountain top, warm in winter, cool in summer, impervious to wind, frost, rain, and snow;
If you haven't crossed the ocean, you wouldn't know the changes of the sea; if you haven't traversed the New World, you wouldn't know the vastness of the land...
Apart from the macro world, the micro world cannot be ignored either. Garrett slowly closed his eyes, recalling a series of discoveries and verifications since he arrived in this world:
In this world, there are bacteria, fungi, and pale spirochetes (confirmed by silver staining experiments on syphilis patients' blood);
There are even smaller microorganisms like viruses;
In terms of material structure, there are molecules, atoms, ions, and electrons;
Electric currents pass through metal wires, creating magnetic fields, and electromagnetism can be converted...
The meditative world lightly fluctuated. From all directions, powerful energies surged like tides, enveloping Garrett.Though the energy was strong, it wasn't violent; instead, it was exceptionally gentle and mellow. It felt like standing barefoot on the grass, with warm spring water gradually rising, submerging the feet, the calves, the waist, the shoulders, warmly wrapping the entire person...
Garrett sighed comfortably. Such an advancement was truly effortless, almost equivalent to simply lying down and waiting for external forces to seep into the meditative world.
The meditative shell that enveloped him acted like a semi-permeable membrane of cells, absorbing useful forces, rejecting useless ones, or simply flinging them far away. However, there didn't seem to be a need for that?
Intuition told him that the incoming forces were all good and necessary. None should be discarded; it was best to accept them all...
The original appearance of the world indeed included the existence of all types of forces!
Of course, control was still necessary. Garrett took a deep breath and began to fully absorb the energy infused with the world's will. The first step, naturally, was to strengthen himself, particularly the core of his meditation:
Increase storage capacity!
Speed up computing power!
That meditation core brain, forged into a biological computer, should be given more effort to grow! Extend the neural synapses several times, dozens of times more, to speed up the calculations!
The intangible energy transformed into a tangible storm, condensing, rotating, and injecting above the research institute, even forming a tornado. In Tenochtitlan, two of the highest pyramids simultaneously emitted light:
A faint golden light and a thin black mist appeared simultaneously. In a moment, the golden light condensed into a golden eagle, and the black mist into a black snake, floating above the pyramids, gazing into the distance:
"It seems... something very powerful has appeared..."
"It smells... so fragrant... hiss... so fragrant..."
"Should we go check it out?"
"Let's go see... hiss... our territory... hiss... our stuff... take a bite..."
The golden eagle extended a leg for the black snake to coil around, flapped its wings, and soared into the sky. Soon, in the research institute, Archmage Haines frowned, quickly walked out, and pulled his disciple into the air:
"Stop!" His black robe billowed, and the magic robe called the [White Bone Robe] had eighteen skulls floating and sinking, all letting out shrill screams.
A circle of black mist flowed outside the robe, formed by thousands of bound souls constrained by the magic robe, rotating rapidly around their master. This eighteenth-level archmage, in terms of aura, looked more like a death god than a death god:
"This is the research institute established by the Magic Council! It is our territory! Outsiders, halt, and do not disturb!"
"This is the land of the Eagle God! Our territory!" The Eagle God rebuffed loudly. The communication between the deities and the sorcerers didn't make a sound but had strong fluctuations echoing in the void:
"Everything that appears on this land, flowers, herbs, magical beasts, treasures, belongs to us! Outsider, you blocking us here, not letting us see, is too much!"
"This is not a treasure!" Archmage Haines' face was like water, his black robe billowing.
Beside him, Archmage Jennings swept his sleeve, and a faint barrier stood tall, blocking them and the research institute. In the city, another light shot up, centered on the top of the Mage Tower, shooting straight into the sky, then turned downwards, covering half the square.
The Serpent God suddenly turned back. When it turned to Archmage Haines again, its voice was full of anger:
"You all!"
"We have no intention to be enemies." Archmage Haines coldly said:
"We do not wish to fight, nor to seize your belongings. So far, the agreement between the Council and the Eagle God’s nation remains effective... The fluctuations you felt are due to the Plague Lord advancing, attracting elemental forces..."
"You lie!" The Serpent God hissed, interrupting:
"We have seen your so-called elemental forces! This is different! The treasure below is stronger, more... fragrant, it is the power we need! Move aside!"
"That is the world's favor and attention! It is the world's gift!" Archmage Haines stood his ground. Native gods are just that, so ignorant. Every high-level archmage in the Council would receive the world's gifts several times—
Or rather, if a sorcerer could not receive even one world gift, it meant that their strength in magical research was very average, and their achievements were dismal, merely following others' footsteps.
Such a sorcerer, while being fine at low levels and barely managing at mid-levels, would have no hope of reaching high levels or even entering the realm of legends.
Although, Garrett's display was somewhat too grand. Archmage Haines thought with envy and jealousy: the largest scale of world gift he absorbed during his advancement was not even half of Garrett's!
And that was when he advanced to level 18!
Now, it's just Garrett, the little level 10 sorcerer, safely advancing to level 11 inside, while he and his disciple guarded the door outside, and even alerted the city’s Mage Tower controller...
Just as he thought this, a long howl came from the underground, and Cirilla rushed straight up. She hadn’t fully transformed into her dragon form, only spreading a pair of huge silver wings behind her, pretending to activate the Dragon Flight Cloak:
"What are you doing! Garrett is advancing! No one is allowed to disturb him!"
Beside her, Aishe Moon Song stood with a spear, a stern face, standing shoulder to shoulder with her.
The silver-haired elf untied the longbow on her back, drew the bow, and nocked an arrow; the green-haired elf held a spear in both hands, her head wreath moving with the wind, clearly a high-quality magical item.
Two level sixteens, one level fifteen, one level eighteen. Such a combination was enough to block the Serpent God and the Eagle God—
Not to mention, the city’s Mage Tower was also prepared.
The Eagle God flapped its wings a few times in the air, restrained its aura, and no longer planned to force its way. Of course, it did not intend to give up this opportunity, just slightly retreated half a mile, snorted coldly:
"You outsiders are all cunning! Since you said it, I will watch from here! If any treasure appears, you better not stop us!"
Archmage Haines snorted, slowly retreating. Cirilla was pulled back by Aishe Moon Song, also stepping back, maintaining a position behind Archmage Haines by a body length. Aishe Moon Song whispered:
"How long will he take to advance?"
"...A few days?" Cirilla tilted her head, thought for a moment, and answered uncertainly:
"The time before last seemed to take four days, the last time was shorter, only three days... But I heard that advancing from level 10 to level 11 is a big advancement, it might take longer, I can’t say for sure..."
Archmage Haines: "..." Damn it, so this means we need to stand here for three days and nights, or four days and nights, or even longer?
This is too boring!
No, we must think of a way to adjust!
"You go down and activate the research institute's shield."
Archmage Haines whispered to his disciple. Archmage Jennings nodded, turned around, and flew down.
After a while, there was a "buzz" below, and a shield of light red, deep yellow, luminous white, and light green rose like a veil, covering the entire research institute and the entire ring mountain crater:
The heavy earth forces of the mountain;
The torrential rain that pours down every rainy season;
The ceaseless howling winds at the mountain top;
And the lava that once erupted violently but now lies dormant in the mountain depths...
These forces were guided by the magic array, intertwining into a shield outside the research institute. Soft, thin, seemingly semi-transparent, but exceptionally tough, not easily breakable.
The Eagle God watched the shield with trepidation, retreated further. On its claws, the Serpent God hissed lowly:
"Can’t rush through at once... These
outsiders... outsiders..."
They slowly retreated, retreating five or six miles, finding a mountain to rest on. Seeing them distance themselves, Archmage Haines also descended. Cirilla flapped her wings, landing steadily, pacing back and forth in front of the research institute:
"So boring... so boring... so boring... Sister Moon Song, let's roast meat! Can you grow berries? Last time when Garrett advanced, a high elder from the Nature Church grew berries for me, they were delicious!"
In the research institute, Lin held Mr. Troka and withdrew his gaze, sighing with relief, and slowly walked inside. Though he was only level nine, though he was nothing in a high-level battle, at the very least, he could use all his strength to shield Garrett!
In another direction, Appa grunted, pawing the ground hard, the silver light on his much smaller antlers receding. Standing on the ground, unable to jump, was so annoying!
Next time he advances, he needs to find a way to attack airborne targets!
Outside the meditation room, Bernard held Garrett’s treasured oak staff, leaned against the wall, and slid to the ground. He rested his head on the oak staff, muttering softly:
"Oak staff master... oak tree master... let's just stay here... staying here can also catch the advancement... no need to think about entering the door..."
The top of the oak staff, with ten leaves spinning like a windmill. At the very top, a small bud had already sprouted, seemingly about to grow another new leaf.
Luckily, he had just finished climbing the mountain and rushed back from the top. Otherwise, if Garrett had left the oak staff miles away and it couldn’t catch the advancement, wouldn’t it be furious?
It might even turn into an oak tree and fall on Garrett’s head, anything is possible!
