100\% DROP RATE : Why is My Inventory Always so Full? Chapter 827 - 837 - Identity

For several moments, Lucien remained beneath the ancient trees, quietly adjusting to the body he now inhabited.
Everything about it felt wrong in small but noticeable ways.
His breathing was shallower than he was used to, his limbs felt lighter and painfully ordinary, and even the sensation of the ground beneath his palms seemed strangely direct now that the countless layers of perception he once possessed were gone.
Then a familiar sound rang through his mind.
[Ting!]
Lucien froze.
For a heartbeat, he wondered whether the transfer had damaged his senses, but a translucent interface appeared before him almost immediately.
[Host Identity Mismatch Detected.]
Lucien stared at the message.
His System had followed him.
Relief barely had time to settle before another notification appeared.
[Soul Synchronization Initiated.]
Pain tore through his head.
Lucien’s vision blurred as he nearly collapsed back onto the grass. Memories that did not belong to him began pouring into his mind through the fractured identity surrounding his soul.
He saw a narrow dirt road beneath bare feet, a small wooden house warmed by an old cooking fire, and a familiar river running beside the village. He heard a woman’s voice calling from outside and a man’s rough laughter somewhere nearby.
Images from an entire childhood surfaced one after another, disappearing almost as quickly as they came.
Lucien gritted his teeth and endured the flood until he finally understood what was happening.
The young man’s spirit had been fractured, but his identity had not completely disappeared. Lucien’s soul had entered those fractures and stabilized what remained. Now that the System was synchronizing his soul with the identity of this body, the memories attached to that identity were beginning to return.
It was not restoring the young man who had died. Instead, it was allowing Lucien to properly embody the life that had remained behind.
The synchronization lasted only a short time, but the flood of unfamiliar memories made it feel much longer. When the pain finally eased, Lucien released a slow breath and immediately turned his attention toward the System.
The interface still responded.
That alone was reassuring.
Lucien then tried to access everything else he once possessed, and his expression gradually flattened.
Drop Rate Max was gone, along with the rest of his Job Skills. The normal Skills recorded through his original spirit had not followed him into this new identity either.
He continued checking, only to find that the losses did not stop there.
The System Inventory no longer responded. Skillpedia was gone, along with the Magic Book, Monsterdex, and the Craft Feature.
When Lucien attempted to draw upon Divine Energy, nothing answered him. Even his instinctive attempt to sense the inner universe reached nothing more than the fragile interior of an ordinary mortal body.
Lucien remained silent for several seconds before finally sighing.
"So I really did start over."
Strangely, the realization did not disturb him as much as he expected.
He had already known that most of what made him powerful would leave with his original body. Seeing the System stripped down merely confirmed how complete that separation had been.
At least the System itself remained.
Lucien leaned back slightly against the tree behind him.
The System had originally come from the Primordial Slime. If anything that belonged to him had a connection to this ancient era, it was probably this.
Perhaps it knew something about the past. Perhaps it would eventually help him understand what he was supposed to accomplish here.
For now, Lucien was simply grateful that he had not been left completely blind.
Another wave of memory surfaced before he could examine the System further.
This one was much clearer.
A name appeared.
Lucien.
He blinked and searched the memory again.
There was no mistake.
The young man whose body he now inhabited had also been named Lucien.
His expression slowly became strange.
"Seriously?"
Lucien searched through the returning memories more carefully, and that was when he caught several images of the young man’s face reflected in water and polished metal.
He went still.
That explained the faint familiarity he had noticed earlier.
The resemblance was not perfect, but it was far too obvious to ignore now that he could see the young man’s face properly through his memories. The shape of the eyes, the line of the jaw, and the general structure of the face all reminded Lucien of himself.
The dirt covering the body earlier had hidden most of those details.
"This is getting ridiculous."
Lucien continued searching through the memories, expecting to find something that would explain why this young man had mattered enough to attract the attention of Primordial Incarnations and Abyssal Arch-Lords.
Instead, he found almost nothing.
The young man had lived an ordinary life in a small village. He possessed no strange power, no hidden inheritance, no unusual training, and no remarkable childhood event that Lucien could identify.
He was simply a normal young man living in an age so ancient that even mana had yet to appear.
The reason he had entered the forest was equally ordinary.
He had come to gather fruit.
Along the way, he had found a purple mushroom and, for reasons Lucien could not begin to defend, decided to eat it.
The memory became increasingly confusing after that.
Colors had shifted strangely. Trees had appeared to bend where they should not have, and at one point the young man had become completely convinced that a bird was speaking to him.
Lucien rubbed his forehead.
"So that happened."
The absurdity disappeared when the final memory surfaced.
Fracture had appeared.
The young man had not understood what he was seeing and had barely been given enough time to react before everything ended.
Lucien’s expression darkened.
Nothing about this life explained why Fracture had crossed into the distant past specifically to kill him.
For the first time, Lucien seriously considered whether the Incarnations had targeted the wrong person.
The possibility sounded ridiculous, but so did almost everything that had happened since he entered this era.
Another possibility followed immediately.
What if it had been deliberate?
What if the Incarnations had intentionally left him here to investigate someone meaningless while the real alteration to history unfolded elsewhere?
Lucien’s expression gradually grew colder.
He could not dismiss that possibility either.
Then another memory surfaced.
This one erased every previous thought from his mind.
It concerned the young man’s parents.
Lucien saw two faces within the memory, and for several long seconds, he could do nothing except stare.
The man’s expression was painfully familiar.
So were the woman’s eyes.
Before Lucien could properly process what he had seen, something moved deeper inside the forest.
Leaves rustled nearby as branches shifted beneath approaching footsteps.
Lucien’s attention snapped outward.
His mind reacted immediately, but the body followed far more slowly. Pain spread through his muscles as he tried to rise, forcing him to stop before he injured himself further.
He had almost nothing now.
The thought briefly crossed his mind that it would be humiliating beyond belief if he survived Primordial Incarnations only to die to some ordinary animal in a forest.
The rustling grew louder.
A moment later, two humans emerged between the trees.
Lucien froze.
A man appeared first, with a woman following close behind him.
The moment Lucien saw their faces clearly, every thought in his mind seemed to stop.
The memories belonging to this body reacted before Lucien himself could properly understand what he was seeing.
"Mother... Father..."
Both figures stopped.
Then, without hesitation, they rushed toward him.
