Inside the room, Sara and the boys were sharing laughter.
"This performance isn't quite right," one of the boys teased. "We need it to appear genuine so the video delivers a powerful message."
Sara huffed, "I'm genuinely trying my best, okay?"
A few more boys and girls, who were part of the filming crew, gathered around. "Sara, don't pay him any mind. You're doing a fantastic job."
"Thank you. Let's film it again. I'll start by entering the room," Sara announced, reaching for her bag.
Puzzled, Jared looked towards Lu Lijun and Jiang Yuyan, murmuring, "What's happening here?"
"Unlike you, your daughter is engaged in a noble endeavor," Noah interjected. "Her class was assigned a small project to raise awareness about the abuse young girls endure, particularly when it goes unpunished. Your daughter and her team were fortunate enough to receive a script prepared and funded by us. They'll receive a handsome reward upon project completion."
Jared's fists tightened. "You deceived me?"
Lu Lijun arched an eyebrow. "Would you have preferred it to be a real scenario?"
Jared fell silent instantly, the gravity of the situation dawning on him. He remained on his knees, his voice soft and laced with remorse. "No, I apologize. I am truly sorry for everything my family has caused you to endure. As I stated, I will depart this country and never look back. I will cease all attempts to harm your family. From the very beginning, the fault lay with us."
"Good," Lu Lijun stated, standing up and assisting Jiang Yuyan to her feet. "In that case, we won't be seeing you off," he added, walking away with Yuyan, having no further words for Jared. Noah swiftly collected the device connected to the television and followed them outside.
The message conveyed to Jared was unambiguous, leaving no room for further explanation.
Jared stayed seated for a moment, watching them depart, before retrieving his phone. He dialed his daughter's number, and the call connected. The instant he heard her voice on the other end, he spoke softly, "Sara."
"Dad, you finally called. I was starting to think you'd forgotten about me."
Jared's voice was thick with emotion as he wiped his eyes. "I'm sorry."
"Dad, are you alright? You sound… different."
"I'm fine," he responded, his voice strained. "I just miss you."
"Then why don't you come back? We all miss you terribly too."
"Yes, I am coming back now. I won't leave you all by yourselves ever again."
"That's wonderful! I'll let Mom and Ryan know."
"No, let's make it a surprise."
"That's a splendid idea. Come back soon, alright? I have to head to class now. See you shortly."
Jared hummed in agreement and concluded the call. He leaned back onto the sofa, tears continuing to stream down his face. A profound sense of relief washed over him – his daughter was safe. He shuddered to contemplate what he might have done had she truly been harmed.
Hearing her cheerful voice brought him to the realization that vengeance held no true importance. The individuals he cherished, his family, were the only ones who genuinely merited his full attention.

Jiang Yuyan and Lu Lijun returned home to find the entire family assembled in the drawing-room, their faces etched with worry as they anxiously awaited their arrival.
"They have returned," the butler announced.
Everyone stood, observing the couple enter the room, both appearing unharmed.
Ning Jiahui quickly approached Jiang Yuyan, taking her hands. "Yuyan, are you unharmed? I was foolish at the hospital; I should have prevented you from confronting that man."
"Mother, I am perfectly fine," Jiang Yuyan reassured her. "You didn't hinder me; rather, you encouraged me to make him pay. That gave me the necessary fortitude. I truly appreciate you placing your trust in me."
"But if anything untoward had befallen you, I—"
"I am alright," Jiang Yuyan repeated, gently clasping her hands.
Ning Jiahui then turned to her son. "It's a good thing you brought her back safely, or I would have disowned you."
"Mother, even without my assistance, no one can harm her. Have faith in me," Lu Lijun stated calmly. "You were aware of this yourself, which is why you permitted her to go, wasn't it? You should have witnessed her resolve – she was practically prepared to take drastic action against that man."
"I cannot help but worry," Ning Jiahui murmured, though her relief was palpable.
They proceeded towards the seating area, where Lu Jinhai inquired, "And what of Jared?"
"He has learned his lesson and is returning to his home country," Lu Lijun replied. "He will no longer pose a threat to our family."
"Are you certain?" Lu Jinhai pressed.
"Yes," Lu Lijun confirmed.
A collective wave of relief swept through the entire family, and smiles bloomed on their faces. Ning Jiahui addressed the butler, "Tonight, we shall have a celebratory feast. Please prepare all the favorite dishes of each family member."The butler, reflecting the household's elation, quickly departed for the kitchen to issue directives to the staff. Following a delightful shared repast, the family convened in the garden. Jiang Yuyan and Lu Lijun positioned themselves within the gazebo, enveloped by the tranquil night air. "What occupies your thoughts?" Lu Lijun inquired, detecting her contemplative state. "I was reminiscing about that night," she responded. "Which particular occasion?" "That evening when it rained," she stated, gesturing towards the wooden bridge connected to the gazebo, "when I was there, and you were here, lost in your own world." Lu Lijun understood instantly; she alluded to the night of his initial confession. "And what specific aspect are you reflecting upon?" "I am contemplating that I made the right decision by coming here to find you," she uttered, turning to face him. "Had I not, you would never have confessed." "You must have been quite taken aback," he remarked gently. "Indeed. It was wholly unanticipated. It felt as though my entire existence had been upended, leaving me disoriented and uncertain of my next move." "I was surprised as well," Lu Lijun confessed. "Perhaps I should have selected a more opportune moment and not blindsided you. However, I could no longer contain myself. The pretense was unbearable—the effort to conceal and disregard my feelings. In that instant, my sole desire was to release everything without concern for the repercussions." Jiang Yuyan delicately lifted her hand, her fingers brushing against his cheek. "I apologize for striking you that day." "There is no need for such an apology," he replied, grasping her hand and bestowing a tender kiss upon her palm. His gaze, filled with affection, met hers. "My apology is due for pressuring you. That action was unwarranted." "What truly matters is that we are united and content now," she reassured him. "Despite the initial shock, our present togetherness renders those moments the most significant in our journey." Lu Lijun offered a nod and drew her into an embrace. "My world revolves around you. I cannot fathom navigating life without you." She smiled, allowing him to hold her near. "I am perpetually by your side." He drew in her delicate fragrance. "My profound affection for you defies explanation, yet I am certain my existence is meant for you. Without you, life holds no purpose. I love you, so immensely that the very concept of 'how much' becomes incomprehensible." Jiang Yuyan let out a soft chuckle, her arms encircling him. "My love for you is equally boundless."
