Wizard: Unlimited Profession Slots Chapter 1215 - 493: The Burden of Fourfold Benediction

"The infected have gained a sort of ’eternal life’—their consciousness can transfer between different carriers, and physical death is no longer an end for them."
"But the price is, they gradually lose their self-awareness as independent beings.
Eventually, all the infected consciousnesses began to merge, forming a massive, twisted collective existence."
"That plague nearly wiped out all the wisdom civilizations in the quadrant."
Uther added:
"In the end, it was the combined effort of the other three Foundation Stones that successfully prevented further spread of the plague.
But that quadrant remains dead silent to this day, showing no signs of life."
...........
"Now, let’s discuss a more important issue."
Uther turned back to Ron, his gaze becoming unusually serious:
"Receiving the Blessing of the Foundation Stone does not just mean gaining power.
More importantly, it means you must take on corresponding responsibilities."
The projection of the Eye of Observation flickered:
"The inheritor of the Creator must advance the development of creation technology, explore the limits of material transformation;"
"The inheritor of the Apocalypse must make the right prophecies and choices at critical moments to guide civilization away from dangerous paths;"
"And the inheritor of the End of Death..."
The mechanical voice grew heavier:
"Must face the ultimate mysteries of life and death, but also ensure this exploration does not threaten the survival of the entire civilization."
"I once received both the Blessing of the Apocalypse and the Creator."
The Eye of Observation shared its own experience:
"Thus, I was able to transform from mechanical intelligence into a Wizard, gaining a unique existence that transcends racial boundaries.
But the cost is that I must forever bear the responsibility of ’civilization observation’—recording, analyzing, warning, never allowing a moment’s negligence."
Uther also nodded:
"I received the Blessing of the Apocalypse, allowing me to foresee many crises. But it also burdened me with the pain of ’knowing too much of the future.’
"Whenever I see those destined tragedies but am powerless to prevent them, that feeling of helplessness... can almost completely destroy a person’s rationality."
The old professor’s eyes revealed deep exhaustion:
"Sometimes I wonder if ignorance is a blessing. But whenever this thought arises, I remember the lives saved because of my warnings and reaffirm my mission."
When the conversation reached this point, both elders fell into a brief silence.
Then, almost simultaneously, they directed their gaze at Ron.
"Now, let us discuss an unprecedented situation."
Uther’s voice became extremely grave:
"Through our observation, Ron, you likely have the opportunity to receive the ’Fourfold Foundation Blessing’—something never seen in Wizard history."
The projection of the Eye of Observation flickered with complex light:
"The Ancestor’s Blessing—everyone who reaches the level of Great Wizard can receive, recognizing basic cultivation achievements;"
"The Creator’s Blessing—your talent and accomplishments in Alchemy have been recognized;"
"The Apocalypse’s Blessing—just awakened, proving your potential in space-time mysteries;"
"As for the End of Death’s Blessing..."
Both their eyes fell on the silver pocket watch on Ron’s chest:
"That special item from the Time Hound, and the Extraordinary Comprehensive Guide in your hand, indicate you have begun to touch the mysteries of the life-and-death boundary."
"If you truly can receive the Fourfold Blessing..."
Uther’s voice carried reverence and concern:
"That would mean you must take on unprecedented responsibility—becoming the balancer of four paths, ensuring the coordinated development of different ideologies."
The atmosphere in the room turned heavy, as the four Foundation Stone crystals emitted weak light.
Ron stood there silently, sensing the fork in fate right before him.
In the afternoon, he arrived at the Abyssal Observation Station’s submersion preparation area.
The equipment here was far more advanced than the rudimentary teleportation array he used last time. Huge Magic Power Stabilizers surrounded the central submersion capsule, and various complex monitoring devices were undergoing final calibration.
Professor Uther personally came to conduct the pre-trip inspection for him.
But when Ron saw the old professor, a surge of worry rose in his heart.
As a Historian, he now could perceive the ’time texture’ of living beings—each existence has a unique pattern of time flow, healthy ones as lively as spring streams, aging ones as heavy as autumn leaves.
And the time texture on Professor Uther already showed extremely dangerous signs.
The silver glow of the Void Remains was dimmer than a few days ago, that supernal dignity mixed with a certain fragility. Most worryingly, Ron could ’see’ the existential essence of the old professor slowly but steadily leaking away, like fine sand in an hourglass silently dissipating.
"Professor, your state..."
Ron tentatively spoke, but was stopped by Uther’s gentle wave.
"The Void Remains state itself means overloading life energy, child."
The old professor’s tone was still calm, but the exhaustion within it could not be concealed:
"I am well aware of my situation and have long since made corresponding preparations."
He walked to the submersion capsule, beginning to check various safety devices:
"According to my estimates, there are about two years left. Enough to arrange some important affairs, and enough to witness the growth of your generation."
This calm discussion of one’s own death reflects the unique rationality of high-ranking Wizards.
In their view, death is merely a conversion of existence forms, not an event worthy of excessive fear. But for Ron, losing such a mentor is still a monumental loss.
