Wizard: Unlimited Profession Slots Chapter 1145 - 472: The Regressing Era (Part 2)

Ron furrowed his brow and continued to inquire about the information he was interested in:
"How could it now become... so backward?"
Aselia sighed deeply, her voice becoming as heavy as lead:
"The core of the Second Era’s civilization is what I just mentioned, the ’Conceptual Sharing Network.’
It was a colossal structure that covered the entire Main World and even extended to parts of the Otherworld.
All knowledge, skills, experience, and even personal insights and intuition could be shared in real-time through this network."
"But the problem lies within this network."
Aselia continued to explain:
"Because everyone’s consciousness was partly connected.
Some terrifying knowledge with polluting properties, originating from higher-dimensional beings, also spread uncontrollably through the connected network."
"That kind of knowledge wasn’t ordinary information but concept viruses that could directly alter cognitive structures.
The minds of those who came into contact with it would be forcibly distorted, even to the point where their entire personality could become altered."
Ron felt a chill inside, recalling the various tendencies towards alteration in the Star Eater’s Ravings.
"So, the whole civilization was destroyed just like that?"
"To be precise, it was self-destruction." Aselia’s tone was filled with pain:
"When the polluting knowledge spread through the network, countless wise individuals lost their minds simultaneously and began conducting all sorts of mad experiments and rituals.
They attempted to ’improve’ reality itself, resulting in catastrophic chain reactions."
"This is also why later Wizards began to adhere to the principle of secrecy, insisted on equivalent exchange of knowledge, and handled all information beyond understanding with caution."
Laku’s Sand Puppet sent back an alert; signs of danger had appeared ahead.
While Ron commanded the team to adjust their formation, he continued to inquire:
"Since you’re so well-versed in that era, you must know many legendary figures from that time, right?
Like... the one you’ve been mentioning?"
When he cautiously avoided directly mentioning the true name of the King of Illusions, Aselia was momentarily stunned:
"Are you talking about Panadora? Why not use her name directly?"
"Because now she’s already..." Ron hinted in consciousness:
"Becoming an existence of that level, her true name possesses the characteristic of power projection."
Aselia immediately understood, her Spiritual Body trembled violently:
"She... she really became the Witch King?"
The Dragon Soul fell silent for a moment, then let out a bitter laugh:
"Panadora became the Witch King? Ha... Actually, I’m not surprised at all; that woman was never ordinary from the very start."
"Why is it not surprising?"
"Because before she was even five hundred years old, she was already capable of ’Conceptual Molding’—do you know what that means?"
Aselia’s tone became both reverent and resentful:
"She could turn pure imagination into objective reality! Not illusion, not hallucination, but the power to genuinely rewrite the fundamental laws of the world!"
"I once saw with my own eyes; she created an everlasting flower solely through imagination in front of me.
That flower wasn’t a magical creation, nor an alchemical product, but a product of forcefully altering reality’s rules through sheer willpower."
The Dragon Soul’s voice grew even more somber:
"You have to understand, even in the miraculous time of the Second Era, the existence capable of ’Conceptual Molding’ was so rare as to be counted on one hand.
Most Great Wizards couldn’t achieve that level of reality manipulation."
"If it wasn’t for her having such terrifying talent, why else would I, a noble descendant of the Thunder Dragon Race, willingly serve a mere human child?"
Ron remembered the King of Illusions he once saw, those legends of wish fulfillment that had already shown signs back then.
"Since she was so powerful and valued you so much, why did it eventually..."
"Because to her, the entire world was just material for experimentation."
Aselia’s anger blazed like fire:
"Dragon Blood, Dragon Scale, Dragon Bone, Dragon Soul—these are the essence of life to me, but to her, they’re merely precious alchemy materials."
"When she killed me, her face showed no trace of emotion.
As if dissecting a frog for experimentation, as if picking flowers from the garden, it was all so natural."
"But I have to admit, from a purely profit-driven perspective, her choice was correct.
A living young dragon can only provide limited help, but a dead Dragon Race can offer resources of much higher value."
The Dragon Soul paused for a moment:
"That’s what you humans call ’wisdom’—always able to make the most optimized choice from a global perspective, even if that choice seems cruel and merciless."
"However, you needn’t be overly worried when mentioning her name,"
Seeing Ron’s tense posture, Aselia explained simply:
"This area is under the deep shield of the Dragon Bone Network, and along with the unique environment of the triple lunar eclipse, even the power projection of the Witch King finds it difficult to penetrate here."
She paused for a moment:
"Let me show you what she was like in her youth, before she became completely non-human."
A gentle flow of consciousness transmitted over, constructing a clear image deep within Ron’s mind.
It was a Witch who looked no more than twenty years old.
The beauty of the King of Illusions was not human beauty but an ethereal beauty akin to a Fairy or Angel.
Just like her title, she was like an Illusion, capable of capturing the heart and mind of any observer.
Even Ron, who considered himself to have seen many beauties, couldn’t help but be shaken by the sight of this image.
