Three years slipped away in the blink of an eye.
The Nora Calendar reached 1560, marking the year 1448 of the Blood Battle.
Deep within the Land of Darkness.
Inside the Demon Camp, Pazuzu, the Wind Demon Lord, stared toward the distant horizon of Nora with a dark expression. He called for a subordinate and questioned him:
"Has Su Ke, the Water Demon Lord, arrived yet?"
"Lord, not as of now."
"What is the delay? Did they not depart a long time ago?"
"Word has it they were ambushed by a powerful foe on their path and are currently rushing here with all their might."
"Which powerful foe?"
"I am unaware, my Lord."
Following the subordinate's departure, the Shadow Demon Queen stepped forward and remarked:
"The Succubus Queen was struck heavily by Edmund recently. She has entered seclusion to mend her wounds; she will join the blood battle once her recovery is complete."
"And when will she be healed?"
"It is uncertain. She only stated that her injuries were grave."
"Ridiculous. Given her strength, how could she be so badly wounded?"
"I asked her the same thing, but she snapped back, ’Then given the Earth Demon Lord’s strength, how did he end up dead?’"
A heavy silence filled the air before Pazuzu spoke again:
"Is the Dark Spider Mother on her way?"
"It is reported that Edmund damaged her very source, and she is currently in recuperation."
"What of the Corruption King?"
"Burned as well."
"Even the Master of Ten Thousand Poisons suffered burns, did he not?"
"Not exactly. It is said he was nearly caught in the crossfire of a Level 11 conflict. Having barely escaped with his life, he is now deep in recovery within the Abyss Layer. He sent word for us to persevere until he awakens and his power is sufficiently restored to enter the blood battle."
"Curses! Does he not always slumber for at least ten millennia? By the time he opens his eyes, Nora will have been leveled by our hands; he will miss his chance to fight entirely!"
Pazuzu composed himself, then asked in a freezing tone:
"What about Eternal Sleep? Surely it was not impacted by the previous great war?"
"It remains locked in a struggle with the Lost Monarch within the Nightmare World."
"A thousand years have passed, and there is still no resolution?"
"It claimed the two are perfectly matched, resulting in a stalemate."
"And the Fallen Star Lord? Inform him that if he enters the fray, he need not stand on the front lines. He only needs to offer his astrology from the rear to scramble the astrological paths of Nora’s legendary wizards. There is no threat to his life."
"He is said to be at a vital turning point in breaking through to Level 11. Should he succeed, the Abyss shall welcome a new [Chaotic Servant]."
Pazuzu’s face grew increasingly grim. Finally, remembering something, he inquired:
"Has Surgard been located?"
"No. Its last appearance was during a clash with Art, the Dusk Sun God, beyond the Pan-Plane. Both sustained severe injuries and have vanished since then."
"Damn it!"
"Commander, what does 'damn it' signify?"
...
In the vast Pan-Plane, a great distance from Nora.
"Caw caw caw!"
Radiating a frost-filled aura, a blue crow soared through the void.
Uncertain of the time, Ayak realized it had been away from home for nearly a hundred years. Its travels had become significantly easier after ascending to the rank of a Level 9 special spiritual creature.
While it lacked the power to defeat a Level 9 opponent, typical Level 9 beings found it nearly impossible to capture such a nimble creature. Furthermore, it could still easily overpower those at Level 8.
Truly, such is the divine Ayak!
In days past, with a Level 6 form, it challenged Level 8!
Now, with a Level 9 form, it stands as an equal to Level 8!
It is truly exceptional.
Ayak was set on finishing a complete circuit beyond the Pan-Plane this time, especially since its flight speed now far exceeded its former self.
During its journey, it amassed various rare treasures to embellish its cherished nest. Even though the round-faced girl had been preoccupied with mahjong and barely noticed its departure, Ayak still held her in high regard.
Then, one day.
Ayak arrived at a world within the wilderness and spotted a group of peculiar individuals garbed like shamans, each possessing Level 7 power. They had seized an ice-blue bird that looked like a cross between a phoenix and a peacock.
The long tail feathers of this small bird shimmered with a vibrant light, emitting icy crystals that looked as stunning as an aurora. Ayak recalled seeing this creature in the "Magical Creatures Atlas" compiled by its master.
This bird's name was... the Aurora Bird!
Just like the round-faced girl, it belonged to the class of Legendary Creatures.
In that instant, Ayak felt its heart race.
Now, the time for its performance had arrived.
It would show this unsightly crowd its true power!
A hero's rescue!
Whoosh!
Ayak shifted into a streak of blue light, transforming into a divine blue bird with a wingspan stretching over ten thousand meters. It spat out freezing air; three parts coalesced into elemental sword energy, while the other seven formed a magnificent bridge of ice leading toward the captive bird.
The ruthless sword energy reaped the lives of the shamans, leaving only the leader who held a dried, red root array that glowed with an extraordinary light.
With a simple motion, phantom golden crows wreathed in flames filled the heavens as the leader screamed:
"You blue-feathered dead bird! Witness the might of my Divine Crow Wood Staff!"
Ayak felt only contempt!
Such a small fry! Yet he has some tricks!
This staff rightfully belongs to me, Ayak!
Once claimed, it will make an excellent heater for the nest.
After another intense yet safe skirmish, Ayak successfully entombed the creature in ice, shattering it with a light tap. Ayak retrieved the red root staff and noticed small, green sprouts beginning to bud from it.
Ayak descended gracefully along the ice bridge, stopping before the ice-blue bird. The creature seemed to be at the Level 7 Peak, its phoenix-like eyes shut tight while its body shook, foaming at the beak as if it had been drugged.
Without hesitating, Ayak shoved a bundle of medicinal herbs into its mouth. Whether by luck or skill, the bird miraculously regained consciousness.
