Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1627 - 562: All Fall One After Another (Part 3)
Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
"Qu Qi, you say..." Bo He murmured while half-crouched, as though whispering to the air around her.
Right then, Qu Qi's lowered head jerked upward without warning, its sleepy eyes flaring wide as they fixed on the remote horizon.
This abrupt move cut off Bo He's words before she could finish.
"Woof! Woof!!" The lazy look on Qu Qi's face vanished, replaced by sharp alertness as it barked fiercely.
Bo He jumped in surprise and whipped her gaze toward where Qu Qi stared, her lovely eyes bulging the very next instant while her delicate lips parted in shock.
High on the peak of the massive Cologne Cathedral far away, a thick cloud of dark fog kept pouring out. If it was just ordinary fog, it wouldn't seem so eerie, yet this stuff twisted and writhed like it was alive.
From such a distance, Bo He could still make out glimpses of razor-like talons and a savage maw flashing now and then inside the swirling darkness...
It felt like some monstrous beast shrouded in the fog was on the verge of bursting loose!
Simply watching it sent a wave of raw terror crashing through Bo He's soul!
"Sister Lagaray!"
"Sister Cleya!" Bo He trembled uncontrollably, her voice rising in a desperate yell.
With a swift rush, the elegant Cleya burst from the villa, and moments later, a lithe and imposing form landed next to Bo He—it was Lagaray.
The instant they arrived, both women's eyes traced Bo He's stare, and right away, their faces hardened into masks of deep concern.
Though they weren't the Empire's mightiest, each had climbed to the brink of Quasi-Legendary rank.
Still, the second their sights locked onto that dark fog, a powerful dread bubbled up inside them both.
At that point, Griffin Knights soared relentlessly toward the ominous cloud, only to get snared in flight by writhing strands of the advancing blackness.
Even the mighty Imperial Griffins beneath them got bound tight, screeching in agony.
No amount of thrashing from the Griffin Knights could snap the fluid darkness, which shifted like unbreakable iron.
Just moments later, the captured Imperial Griffin Knights spasmed wildly, as if struck by lightning, before shockingly breaking loose.
But to the onlookers' dismay, the freed knights wheeled around and lashed out at their approaching comrades...
"Controlled?"
The pair locked eyes at once, mirroring the stunned horror in each other's gaze!
"Cleya... this black mist's aura hits me... it's at least as bad as when we saw the Divine Incarnation come down... maybe... the dread feels even heavier!"
The wild-born girl, who had surged ahead through raw instinct, carried an innate knack for spotting peril.
Now, her fair cheeks drained of color, tiny beads of sweat dotting her sleek brow, as she clearly picked up on a massive threat.
"Right, Lagaray, we need to start the evacuation now!" Cleya decided after a quick pause, her tone firm.
She sensed the Imperial City might not hold against this menace, since the fog's horror outstripped even the Divine's might.
Luckily, after the previous massive clash in the Imperial City, Rein had planned with her on rapid escape routes for crises like this.
"Roar!!!"
All of a sudden, a thunderous dragon's bellow ripped through the clouds!
The secretive Imperial Dragon Knights, who shunned public view, now boldly patrolled the skies over the Imperial City.
One...
Two...
...
Eight...
Their ranks kept swelling!
By now, no alerts or horns were needed to spread the word—the whole Imperial City Tamriel erupted in chaos like a pot on the boil, swarming with frantic folks, nobles barking at drivers to speed their wagons away...
Shrieks, sobs, and furious yells from men, women, kids, and all walks of life echoed everywhere.
...
Up in the skies.
"No! That's a Fiend Demon!"
"The ancient Fiend Demon's broken free from the Goddess Church's seal!"
"But... how could that happen!" Walkmas, the eldest and most powerful of the Imperial Guardians, cried out.
"What! Fiend Demon?"
Every Imperial Guardian who caught that term went ghostly white!
