Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1487 - 511: Ambush and Fury

Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
The Sea God Sect has successfully summoned the Nether Sea Goddess, Hela, into the preserved body of an ancient mermaid princess. Under her command, the sect's sorcerers are working to restore the strength of the Leviathan Giant Whale, Jorgandman, to serve as a weapon against the Empire’s airship fleet. Meanwhile, Rein completes his promotion to Elf Tannery while traveling aboard the flagship of the Empire Delegation. This moment of personal advancement is abruptly cut short as a piercing alarm blares across the airship, signaling an immediate and unexpected threat.

The moment Rein bolted from the cabin, his eyes met a scene of chaos. Soldiers scrambled across the decks and through the passages, their faces etched with panic as they shouted orders and rushed to their stations.

This was the flagship of the Imperial Airship fleet, a vessel where composure was the norm. It was a rare and terrifying sight to see the Empire’s elite warriors looking so visibly shaken.

Following the frantic gestures of the troops toward the ocean below, Rein’s eyes went wide with shock.

Directly beneath them, a massive circular vortex had manifested in the sea. Spanning two or three kilometers in diameter, the whirlpool spun with increasing velocity. The suction was so immense that seagulls and albatrosses flying near the surface were being dragged down into the depths.

It appeared as though a massive drain had been pulled from the very bottom of the ocean!

Even at a cruising altitude of two thousand meters, the Imperial Airship fleet felt the impact. Descending air currents caused by the vortex buffeted the massive airbags, causing the pod where Rein stood to tilt precariously.

Menia and Reginald emerged onto the deck shortly after, their expressions grim.

"Rein, Reginald and I are heading down to investigate. For now, you should..." The Red Queen Menia began to issue instructions the moment she saw the whirlpool, but her words were cut short.

The vortex below underwent a violent transformation!

The seawater drawn into the center seemed to hit a saturation point. In an instant, the ocean erupted, sending a colossal column of crystalline water surging hundreds of meters into the sky.

It was like the rebound of a heavy stone cast into a pond; the surface had dipped low only to explode upward with twice the force.

However, what truly gripped the attention of Rein and the other three Epic-level powerhouses was not the geyser itself, but the gargantuan shadow rising within the spray.

It was a fish of impossible proportions!

A whale of titan size!

Moreover, it was a whale adorned with a singular, sharp unicorn horn!

The whirlpool had been the "Surge" ability of the Leviathan Giant Whale, Jorgandman. By creating a vortex to gather momentum and seawater, the beast could launch a counter-force powerful enough to pierce the heavens.

"Is that... an ancient Leviathan Giant Whale?! I thought that species was extinct!" Reginald exclaimed, recognizing the unmistakable whale-like silhouette and the unique horn from ancient records.

"This is bad! All airships, jettison heavy cargo immediately! Gain altitude and move at maximum speed!" Reginald’s face paled as he barked orders to his nearby adjutant.

The ceiling for these airships was restricted; as the air thinned at higher altitudes, the buoyancy of the airbags failed. The vessels used by this Imperial Delegation were capped at a height of roughly two thousand six hundred meters.

"Understood!"

The adjutant had barely moved when a thunderous sound erupted!

A deafening roar rose from the ocean, followed by a concentrated stream of water several tens of meters wide. It shot from the blood-red maw of the Leviathan Giant Whale like a high-velocity shell.

The internal pressure of the water column made it function like a massive high-pressure cannon or a giant anti-aircraft battery. It struck the Imperial airship trailing the flagship, obliterating it instantly!

"Whale Spring Spurt!! There is no doubt, it is a Leviathan Giant Whale!" Menia’s pale face hardened with resolve.

Such a signature technique confirmed the identity of their prehistoric foe.

"Let’s move, Reginald, Crown. We need to draw its fire."

"The fleet must climb and head toward the Empire at top speed!"

"Hmph, to think we just crossed the Federation border only to end up cleaning up an ancient monster for them!" Reginald muttered, shaking his head in annoyance.

Even though he had never faced a Leviathan Giant Whale before, Reginald remained confident. Between him and Menia, they had the power to slay the beast, or at the very least, drive it away.

"Wait, I..." Rein started to protest being left behind again.

However, two powerful dragon roars drowned him out. A red and a yellow Giant Dragon ascended from beneath the flagship, and Menia and Reginald leaped onto their mounts with practiced ease.

"Fine then~" Rein sighed, watching them dive into the fray.

The battle in the sea shifted once more.

Suddenly, a swarm of dark spots emerged from the water surrounding the Leviathan Giant Whale. They took flight, mounting an aerial assault against the Imperial Dragon Knights and the fleet.

Narrowing his eyes, Rein realized these were Cultivators. They were riding flying fish and manta rays equipped with translucent wings.

"Sea God Sect!"

"So, the return of the Leviathan Giant Whale wasn't a coincidence after all."

These Flying Fish Knights and Manta Knights were little more than a nuisance to veteran Imperial Dragon Knights like Menia and Reginald. The dragons unleashed searing Fiery Breaths and abrasive sandstorm Breath, sending the attackers plummeting into the sea like black rain.

Despite their weakness, the distraction worked. The Leviathan Giant Whale continued its Whale Spring Spurt, taking down several more Imperial airships.

The battle reached a bloody equilibrium.

While the Leviathan Giant Whale bombarded the fleet, the Dragon Riders decimated the enemy’s aerial units. Yet, Rein sensed that this assault was far from over.

Suddenly, everything changed!
