What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 965: A Break After Bug Killing
Previously on What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?...
We returned back to the ship after turning the head of the ant Queen in at the military base.
We also marked out which nest it was that we cleared for them so they knew which one exactly was now safe from bugs.
When our ship returned to the planet’s orbit, I realised that there seemed to be more ships now, though they did not look like military ships so I could only assume they were Mercenaries.
I guess people caught wind of this great money making opportunity and rushed here to join in on the bug extermination as well.
Well... I’ve already gotten the rewards for clearing two bug nests and there’s more than eighty of them left so they can go ahead and clear out some of them if they want as well.
For us, we decided to take another break after going through those bugs, feeling that we at least earned some time off from fighting bugs after clearing two nests where no one else has cleared any yet.
Nerissa was still with us and she definitely would rather stay with us than to go on the planet by herself so we brought her along with us.
The habitat station we went to the last time was definitely not a place for us to relax, given that it served mainly as a residential station with barely any amenities.
We went a little further which took us a day to travel until we reached a particularly large trade station that was floating at the edge of an asteroid field.
As we approached the station, I raised an eyebrow at the sight of the mass of ships that seemed to be gathered around said station.
"This seems to be a pretty popular place huh?" I remarked.
Lea turned to me from the weapons console, "This is not normal, Mistress... This is just a trade station that is centered in the crossroads of several systems but it is still located on the outer fringes of the Outer Colonies. It should not have this many people visiting it under normal circumstances."
I gestured at the mass of ships that were gathered around the station, "So why do we have so many ships here? Is there some kind of event going on in the station or something? An idol? Or someone famous?"
Ries tapped on her own personal terminal with furrowed brows, "Mmm... I don’t think so? From what I can see, there’s no news about anyone famous coming to this area..."
I shrugged, "Maybe it’s just a trade boom around this area or something. Guess we can’t dock directly at the station either... Can we hail the station?"
Yumiko turned to me, "Already attempting to hail them, Mistress... Ah, Trade Station, this is the Iridescence, requesting docking permissions."
All of us watched Yumiko as she listened to the station’s response to our docking request before her brows furrowed slightly.
"We’re Mercenaries, yes... What rank? Our Captain is a Platinum rank... Why is this information necessary? Hmm... Captain Tera of the Teran Mercenary Company. Yes... Hmm... Understood."
She ended the call before turning back to me, "We’ve been granted permission to dock on one of their docking arms, Mistress. No need to use the boarding ship to get to the station."
I raised an eyebrow at her, "I’m surprised they have a docking spot open... Are all of these ships gathered around the station not here to dock with it?"
"They are, Mistress. But I believe they are giving you preferential treatment because of who you are."
I sucked in a breath, "Who I am? Did they... Is information about me being a Psionic or something already leaked to the public?"
Amber giggled, "Ehehehe~ I’m pretty sure it’s just because you’re a Platinum rank Merc, Tera~ That already puts you at a special position as compared to the normal Merc. Additionally... I’m pretty sure they asked for your name to check your feats and I’m sure they wouldn’t want to mess with a person who managed to solo a Pirate Lord~"
That happened so long ago though... But I guess I’ll just take the privilege. Not needing to bother with a boarding ship is so much better than needing to wait around and ride a ship to the station alongside some strangers.
Renata moved our ship to the docking arm and latched our ship with it, powering down our engines as we secured the ship to the station.
I gave the order to disembark and prepared to have at least a few days of relaxation here.
My girls went to prepare their own things while I headed to the armoury to grab my stuff, my clothes shifting into my usual suit that I would wear outdoors thanks to Renata, negating the need for me to change my clothes in my room.
As I approached the door to the armoury, I found Nerissa standing outside her room.
"H... Hey, Captain."
"It feels weird hearing you call me that. You’re a guest so no need to be so formal."
"I’m... I’m kind of imposing on you right now after all... And you even gave me that money which I definitely don’t deserve..."
"I told you to just treat it as hush money. So if you’re trying to give it back to me again, I can only assume that you intend to reveal my secret to others."
She quickly shook her head, "No! I will never!"
I shrugged, "Then you can keep it. In fact, on later jobs, I might need to rely on you again to use the dogs to clear out more nests."
She hesitated for a moment before nodding, "I understand. Please leave it to me."
Yeah, even though I have the Bio-Weapons license now, I don’t want people to see me being able to command an army of dogs despite me not being from any Biotamer family.
If word of that were to get out, there would definitely be a lot of attention on me and I’d rather not have that kind of attention chasing after me.
That’s why I intend for her to take all the attention in my stead so I don’t have to.
But if there’s any benefits like letting me dock on the station instead of using a boarding ship, I’ll definitely take that~
"Anyway, you gonna follow us to the station or..." I asked, gesturing in the direction of the cargo bay.
She shook her head, "I’ll be fine on my own... I don’t want to impose on you any further than I already have, after all."
I nodded and decided not to argue, leaving her to deal with her own things while I went to the armoury to gear up.
With my shotgun, pistol and my halberd secured, I went ahead to wait for my girls at the docking hatch where I found Freyja looking up at me with an expectant look on her face.
I pursed my lips, "We’re not going hunting today, Freyja..."
She didn’t seem to care and walked over to start pawing at my leg, clearly indicating that she wanted to follow me along.
I was just about to tell her that I couldn’t bring her since there would be other people in the station, only to pause and consider why I couldn’t bring her.
The whole reason why I had to keep her a secret was because I didn’t have a Bio-Weapons license before this... But now I actually have a Bio-Weapons license so I’m actually allowed to bring the dog around in public... Right?
...
Right?
I mean... I actually don’t see people doing that before... Even the ones that had dogs kept them contained somewhere or they were used in a sort of combat scenario like that time we were stopped for a military inspection.
So... Am I even allowed to walk my dog in public?
While I was thinking about that, Vier appeared wearing her usual white dress with her boobs practically spilling out of it and approached me with a sway of her hips, only stopping when she realised that Freyja was seated in front of me.
She didn’t look too bothered and nodded at me, "Tera. Seems like I’m the first one here."
"Mmm... Just checking, Vier... Since I have a Bio-Weapons license... Am I allowed to bring my dog out into the station and have it walk with me?"
She blinked at me for a few moments before she let out a breath, "You can, Tera... They will just be treated as a dangerous weapon so some places might restrict you from bringing it in... Others might even not allow you inside at all. And any problems caused by your dog will be tied to you so you could lose your license and even be charged for a crime if the dog has done something like killing someone unprovoked."
"Is that why most people don’t bring their dogs around outside?"
She shot me a smile, "Most people don’t have the kind of control you have over dogs, Tera. I’m sure you will be fine with it."
Ah... Ok.
In that case, I guess I’m bringing Freyja out for a walk in the station~
