What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 936: Trying To Find The Mental Shield
Previously on What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?...
I was honestly expecting something to happen with all the dogs running around the ship, but surprisingly, nothing really happened.
The dogs were all really well behaved and only relieved themselves in the exact place I told them to so we didn’t even need to worry about them dirtying the ship.
And they were all really entertained by me taking some time out of the day to just play with them with throwing sticks too.
Speaking of throwing sticks... Nerissa also joined me in the stick throwing and it seems like the dogs also enjoyed playing that with her, though they always returned the stick she threw to me instead of her which... She doesn’t really seem to mind anyway.
I would just get the stick from the dog that got it, give the dog a pat, and then pass the stick to her to throw again.
It was honestly pretty cute.
On that note, Mara and Amber also tried helping me improve my control over my Psionic powers by trying to teach me how to lower my mental shields so that I could use the VR Capsule.
I seem to have a rather hard time doing that for some reason since they keep telling me that I should sense some kind of mental barrier around my brain and I should just try and focus on making it disappear.
The only problem was that I can’t sense this mental barrier that they were talking about so I couldn’t even do what they were telling me to do.
Still, Ries was still hard at work trying to replicate whatever worked on the Exo-Knight to work on the VR Capsule as well. The main problem, as I heard from her, was a matter of power supply since the unit seemed to be getting power directly from the new power source material, Stallium, to power it up.
Unfortunately, we don’t exactly have any Stallium lying around and the market for it is currently completely dominated by the Exo-Knight industries where people outside of it would probably not be able to get their hands on any of them outside of black markets.
We could, of course, probably approach Rosalia or Friederike for some but I don’t think it’s really that important to go that far.
And I guess Vier could also help us procure some if we really wanted it but Ries only saw that as a challenge to try and optimise it without making use of the material so we didn’t resort to that either.
Still... I try my best to learn from Amber and Mara on how to control my Psionic powers anyway just to get better at it. Even if there’s the fact that they were teaching me while they had something thrusting in and out from between their legs and distracting me with their orgasms from time to time...
And I’m currently stuck in one such lesson right now, where they have decided to make use of the empty bedrooms to turn it into my classroom.
I sucked in a breath, trying my best to tune out the sensation of my tentacles still doing their work of pleasing my girls while I focused on my mind.
"Imagine you are standing in a dark room. That usually helps," Amber suggested from the side helpfully.
Mara turned to her, "That’s what she’s already doing, Amber..."
"I’m just reminding her!"
"Very helpful, Amber..."
I did as Amber reminded me and focused on imagining myself standing inside a dark room, something that both of them had already told me at the start of this lesson.
As the room comes into focus within my mind, I could feel myself floating within it and I could feel like there was something floating within that void as well.
I kind of instinctively knew it was most likely the source or some kind of representation of my powers and I could feel the Psionic energy that was floating out of it.
According to them, I should at least feel there was some kind of shield around that but I don’t seem to be able to feel it.
Mara’s explanation was that I was probably still not Psionically perceptive enough to be able to sense the shield itself while Amber was saying that I was probably looking at the wrong place.
I tried to look around the black void and I honestly don’t see anywhere else that I could be looking for that shield so I don’t know what else to do.
I moved around the thing I believe was the source of my power to inspect it.
Well... Even though I say I moved... I’m more like panning an invisible camera around the thing since I wasn’t really physically moving myself.
I tried to find the shield in question but aside from the Psionic energy coming from it, there really wasn’t anything else I could find that was around it.
To make sure, I even reached out to try and touch the source and when I plunged my consciousness into it, I could feel the wellspring of Psionic energy flowing into me and bathing me like I had just slipped into a bath that was full of it.
The fact that I could touch it like this... It either means the shield was not there at all or I can bypass the shield freely to begin with which doesn’t exactly help me try to find the shield.
I opened my eyes again and the two girls could already tell it was a failure right away.
"No good?" Amber asked.
I shook my head, "I really can’t find anything like that at all..."
Mara shook her head, "It’s alright, Captain. Normally, Psionics would spend their entire childhood learning how to use their powers to be even capable of what you can do right now. You can take your time to learn. Let’s continue the practice."
I nodded my head and let myself float off the bed while concentrating on the ball bearings that Mara had laid out on a tray in front of me.
My goal was to maintain my concentration in continuing to use my tentacles, make myself levitate, and then lift as many metal balls as I could and move them around me.
It’s something that apparently Psionics trying to strengthen themselves would do, aside from using the Psionic Crystals of course.
Using Psionic Crystals are basically equivalent to taking steroids without, allegedly, any downsides aside from how rare they are.
Meanwhile, what I’m doing is something like going to the gym to train yourself but in the Psionic sense.
Well.. Obviously the tentacle part was just something extra but there was no way my girls would accept me stopping the tentacles in favour of just doing this.
I managed to lift up about half of the ball bearings which was five more than what I managed to do yesterday, moving them to float around me in an orbit.
Mara noted the increase immediately, "You’re already improving at a rate that is considered inhuman, Captain..."
Amber chuckled, "Which is ironic because we now know that this talent comes from the fact that you are a full human, so this is technically what is the expected talent."
Mara shook her head, "I believe Captain herself would also be considered exceptional even amongst unmodified humans. I have scrolled through the archives and I have not seen mention of any Psionics that could reach her talent in such a short amount of time after awakening."
Amber shrugged, "I mean... Back before humans started modifying themselves? I think the Psionics were in a civil war right? So the really talented ones might have died or were just never talked about because of that."
"I doubt that was the case. I truly think Captain is someone extraordinary."
"Mmm... Yeah, Tera is pretty awesome, ehehehe~ Mmm... She’s doing so well already."
"Indeed. I believe I might need to prepare more of these ball bearings soon. I’m sure she will be able to lift them all by the end of today."
"Oh~ How confident. I think so too~"
I had to grit my teeth to focus on my powers to hide my embarrassment at hearing them praise me so openly like that.
I managed to hold my concentration and direct the ball bearings to spin around me one more time before depositing them back in the tray again and lowering myself onto the bed.
I gave my two lovers a pointed look, "You two are really too much sometimes."
Mara ignored my comment and nodded at me, "Try again."
I did as she asked and closed my eyes once more, putting me in the void again.
I was once again placed in front of my source of power and I frowned at it, trying to see if there was anything different around it but found nothing.
Hmm... This is really weird now... I could definitely feel the power getting denser so I must be getting stronger but why can’t I sense the shield at all?
Just how much stronger do I need to grow before I can sense it?
