Yuki expresses concern about the protagonist's involvement with Vieretha Iceborne, a figure known for her reclusive and potentially dangerous nature. Despite Yuki's warnings, the protagonist reveals he had dinner with Vieretha and was even offered a hotel room. Yuki then receives an urgent message, prompting a change in plans as the beast meant for Kaito's office has arrived.

I remained at the designated rendezvous point, anticipating the smuggler’s arrival with the crate containing Yuki's smuggled canine companion.

The objective was to secure the package, infiltrate Kaito’s office, and unleash the dog to eliminate him.

While the animal wreaked havoc within the building, our team would be alerted to move in, neutralize the threat, and restore order.

Naturally, contingency plans were essential, as the operation’s success was not guaranteed, and several alternatives existed should complications arise.

Doubts lingered regarding the dog's obedience and its potential failure to assassinate Kaito.

Furthermore, Kaito might not be present in his office, or he could possess a canine countermeasure capable of confronting the assassin dog.

A single misstep could prove catastrophic, painting a significant target on our backs and definitively branding us as criminals in Kaito’s eyes should the scheme unravel.

I raised my arm, checking my Codex, and frowned as I realized we were already thirty minutes past the scheduled meeting time.

My gaze swept across the vacant hallway within what was reportedly a storage facility from the station’s early construction phases, now disused.

Its adjacency to a docking port made it an ideal clandestine location for smugglers to offload their illicit cargo, evading security measures.

However, at this precise moment, I was the sole occupant, with no sign of the promised cargo.

Just as I began to suspect the smuggler had been apprehended, a faint hissing emanated from the airlock, and the door slid open.

A figure emerged, a man with a cybernetic left leg and right arm, and a cybernetic eyepiece replacing his left eye.

Trailing behind him was a bulky container, being autonomously dragged by a drone, which undoubtedly housed the canine intended for elimination.

The smuggler’s lone visible eye narrowed as he spotted me, and he advanced, his cybernetic arm held behind his back, concealed from view.

I surmised he was concealing a weapon within it, adopting a precautionary stance should I prove to be an adversary.

As the smuggler drew nearer, I recited the passphrase Yuki had previously provided.

"Do you happen to have a lot of hair?"

A flicker of relief crossed the smuggler’s features. "Yes. I keep them all inside this box."

With mutual acknowledgment secured, the smuggler stepped aside, allowing his drone to position the container before me, followed by a gruff utterance.

"I’ve no idea what this is, nor do I care to know… But I felt compelled to mention that whatever’s inside doesn’t seem particularly pleased with its confinement. For the past few days, there’s been considerable banging emanating from within."

I offered a reassuring nod. "I’ll manage it, rest assured."

He responded with a shrug. "As I said, none of my concern. My sole interest is compensation."

Without a word, I produced a Credit Chip provided by Yuki and presented it to him.

He accepted it with his organic hand, then inserted it into his cybernetic appendage. His mechanical eye briefly illuminated, after which he gave a nod of confirmation.

"All appears to be in order. Inform your employer that I’m amenable to future collaborations."

He then departed with his drones, vanishing through the airlock, leaving me alone with the formidable container.

Right… My immediate priority is to ascertain if I possess control over whatever resides within.

My solitude here is intentional; the girls could become entangled should my command over the entity prove insufficient.

In such an event, I could employ my Psionic abilities for restraint while Renata provides protection, shielding my companions from any rogue aggression.

Approaching the container’s door, I initiated the unlocking procedure via a console that materialized as I neared.

I tapped the screen to commence the sequence, and the main hatch emitted a hiss, slowly beginning to swing inward with a distinctly ominous grinding sound.

Retreating a few paces, I tensed myself, observing the opening widen until it was sufficiently large for a person to pass through.

The container's interior remained obscured by a profound lack of light, revealing only an impenetrable inky blackness.

Activating the flashlight function on my Codex, my gaze fell upon a colossal creature, nearly matching my own stature…

And it’s so incredibly fluffy!!! Oh my gosh!! It’s a fluffy dog!!

While its exact breed eluded me, with much of its form still concealed within the container, I could clearly discern its exceptionally fluffy dark brown and orange fur.

Ahem… Let me attempt this…

Extending my hand, I beckoned gently, "Come here~"

The massive canine stirred, its silent movement towards me a stark contrast to its imposing stature.

As it reached the container's opening, my first impression was that of a Tibetan Mastiff, due to its sheer size. Its broad shoulders stood level with my chest, rivaling the dimensions of a small horse.

However, a subtle difference from the Tibetan Mastiffs I recalled quickly registered, indicating this was likely a mixed breed.

Pondering for a moment, I deduced the probable mix: a Caucasian Ovcharka bred with a Tibetan Mastiff.

The dog cocked its head, observing me with eyes that held a surprising depth of intelligence.

I couldn't resist the impulse...

"Paw!" I commanded, raising my palm towards the colossal creature.

Without a second's hesitation, the dog lifted a massive paw, placing it gently into my waiting hand.

Ahhh!! So adorable!! Oh my heavens!! This magnificent beast is unbelievably cute!! I can do this, right? It won't mind, will it?

Unable to contain myself, I embraced the giant furball, showering it with pats and running my hands through its luxuriously soft coat.

Ahhhh~ So incredibly soft!! Utterly charming!!

The dog remained still, making no move to resist, content to allow my petting to continue.

It's just soooo fluffy!

Seizing the opportunity, I confirmed its gender, discovering it was a female.

"Who's a good girl? Who's a good girl?" I cooed, my hands still busy stroking her fur.

Honestly, I didn't anticipate a response, but the dog looked around the room, as if searching for another person I might be addressing.

Upon realizing I was the only one present, it lifted a paw, pointing it towards itself.

"Ahahaha! That's right! You are a good girl!! Such a good girl!!" I chuckled, gently patting her head.

This time, the dog responded with an endearing whine as I patted her, its tail giving a happy thump-thump against the floor.

Just then, a chime from my Codex announced an incoming call. Tapping it to accept, a holographic projection of Amber appeared, her face etched with worry.

"Tera? Is everything alright? You haven't checked back in for a while..."

I waved dismissively, "Don't fret, the smuggler was simply delayed. I've already received the package. Behold!"

I turned, presenting the enormous dog sitting placidly before the container, completely motionless.

A sharp gasp emanated from Amber's side of the call before she managed to speak, "That... What is that creature? Why is it so colossal?!"

That's exactly what I--

Ahem...

"It's a breed known as the Caucasian Ovcharka Tibetan Mastiff mix, Amber~ This is their typical size~ Well, perhaps it's even larger in this form."

"I... I see... Um... Given our tight schedule... You should be heading towards that individual's office now, correct?"

I nodded in agreement, "Precisely. As soon as I've confirmed a few details with the dog, I'll proceed there for infiltration."

"Hmm... In that case, we can simply rendezvous at the office~ I'll be waiting, Tera!"

The call ended abruptly, leaving me once again in the quiet presence of the gigantic dog.

Right... It seems I need to guide this canine companion to the target's location.

Ahem... My apologies, dear doggie, but you'll need to occupy another container for the time being.
