Void Evolution System Chapter 1896 Aftermath [4]

Previously on Void Evolution System...
The world around Damien twisted as he recognized the futility of his efforts to protect the Sacred Abyss from destruction, revealing that his very existence incited change in the cosmos. Stripped of hope for normalcy, he resolved to step away from his loved ones to prevent their suffering. With a heavy heart, he connected the Heavenly World and the Sanctuary into a united True Void Universe, creating a solemn monument for those lost in the great war. As he embraced his overwhelming power, he prepared to rewrite the past from a unique vantage point, hoping to reshape his destiny within the Void's endless complexity.

Upon his initial arrival in the Void, Damien had performed a similar feat. By manipulating the timeline, he had solidified the journey he had already traversed, leading him to wonder who had been guiding his footsteps the entire time.

The answer required no further search, for he himself was the architect of his own fate.

Damien could now perceive even that specific moment. Should he desire it, he possessed the power to change it. With all restrictions vanished, he could rewrite anything and everything, altering his entire path into something unrecognizable.

His past was now subject to his own whims. This absolute control was exactly what the Dark God had been striving to achieve.

‘However, he never would have reached his objectives.’

Although Damien had no intention of trying, he could feel deep within his soul that resurrecting the Worldwalker was a lost cause. By sacrificing himself to become one with the Void, the Worldwalker had transformed into mere energy and essence. He no longer existed and, fundamentally, could not exist. Such was the permanent toll paid to ensure the survival of his people.

Damien had no interest in bringing anyone back from the dead. Instead, he simply intended to repeat his previous actions.

He became the guiding presence in his own history. Standing above Dante and his former self, he acted as the ultimate catalyst for his own success.

Making such a change was, in any other context, a literal impossibility. Damien was essentially locking in his destiny. Now, regardless of the circumstances, he was fated to reach the state of Absolute. No force or entity could obstruct his progress.

In this realm where time held no meaning, he even bolstered his own past comprehension of the Void, ensuring he could rescue the cosmos before their total annihilation.

It seemed slightly unfair to the Dark God, who was destined to fail from the very start. Now that Damien had arrived at this point, it was as if he were bound to be here since the day of his birth. He had become a truly immortalized existence.

What else remained to be altered?

‘I generally strive to remain selfless, avoiding the temptation to selfishly manipulate events for my own gain, but…’

The lives of others? He considered it, yet he remained uncertain if he truly wished to interfere.

At most, he was prepared to smooth the road for his wives and companions, helping them reach their own milestones more easily.

‘I usually maintain an attitude of selflessness in that I will not selfishly influence matters for my own benefit, however…’

His actions no longer carried consequences. Perhaps it was biased to grant this special treatment only to those close to him, but it was his prerogative.

He had struggled all the way here so they could enjoy the lives they desired. He would not allow himself to drift into indifference and abandon them now.

Having settled those matters, he once again set aside the tapestry of life. His focus shifted back to the Void itself as he prepared for his primary undertaking.

Closing his eyes, he concentrated. The Void pulled back around him, creating a vast distance between himself and the cosmos he observed.

From his new vantage point, the laws governing the Void began to coalesce and find order.

The concepts of Existence and Nonexistence took center stage. Initially appearing in their rawest forms, they began to manifest as the specific concepts Damien had spent so much effort refining as his influence radiated through the Void.

With those two pillars established, his work could truly begin.

A radiant light ignited within the Void. This massive sphere of energy erupted, turning immaterial. Its core was formed of pure essence, while the reach of its energy defined its new boundaries.

A subtle division occurred as the energy transformed into the dimensions of space and time. Creation and Destruction gave their consent before weaving the very fabric of reality within that new spacetime domain.

With a simple wave of his hand, he accelerated the flow of time, allowing eons to pass in an instant. Worlds and entire universes were born and teemed with life. This cosmos established its own "history," one that had no direct connection to Damien.

A brand new cosmos was taking shape within the Void. It was a realm unlike any other, being the only one in existence intentionally crafted by a single entity.

Naturally, it was built according to that being's specific tastes.

The laws of this new cosmos were designed so its inhabitants could perceive Damien. It allowed him to exist within it without his presence causing reality to unravel.

He entered this cosmos and selected a world—one strikingly reminiscent of Earth—to serve as his new home.

With that finished, only one task remained.

A massive stir certainly erupted throughout the cosmos following Damien’s departure.

The disappearance of his presence was felt by many, yet it didn't feel like a death. Though they did not panic, they were struck with awe as they witnessed the transformations occurring around them.

The changes Damien had enacted were manifesting instantly. The revitalized state of the True Void Universe was a magnificent sight, though most people credited the phenomenon to the strange energy waves lingering from the great war.

Only a select few realized this was Damien’s doing, and those few were filled with concern.

They could only hope he wasn't pushing himself too hard to wield power at such an inconceivable level. They knew he had ascended to a height they couldn't reach, but did that change their bond?

They longed to see him and to celebrate the lives they had finally secured for themselves.

It was to these individuals that the invitation arrived.

Appearing as a notification window much like those from the system, they were presented with a question and a simple choice.

[Damien Void is inviting you to a new world. Would you like to go?]

Despite the simplicity of the text, the full context was etched into their minds the moment they read it.

Damien could no longer remain in this reality, necessitating a move elsewhere. He wanted them to join him, but the decision was entirely theirs.

There was no coercion. Ultimately, the new world would be linked to the True Void Universe, allowing anyone who stayed behind to visit whenever they wished. Damien was the only one who could not return.

Even so, the choice was an easy one for most.

Hundreds of fingers reached out to tap the option that said, "Yes."

Unsurprisingly, his wives were among the first.

Unlike the others, when they arrived in the new world, they found themselves standing before a house.

It wasn't overly grand or particularly small. The most accurate word for it was "ordinary."

It looked like the home of a typical upper-middle-class family.

Waiting in front of it was the man they had come to find.

Everything had finally concluded.

Their old stories were reaching their final chapters.

Wasn't it time at last to begin fulfilling the promises they had made to one another?

Damien hadn't known peace for a very long time, having denied himself many things while waiting for this exact moment.

Now that it had arrived, he was ready to make good on those desires.

"We have all the time in the world now, so…"

He beamed at them with a smile.

They looked back at him with a mix of emotions. Rose and Elena returned his smile, Ruyue watched him with tender eyes, and Iris rolled her eyes with a look that failed to hide her immense joy. No matter what they had been doing or what they had planned, it could all be put on hold.

They were together again, and just as Damien said, time was no longer an issue.

So…

"...those promises we made, let's fulfill them. All of them, one at a time."
